Okay this might sound weird but when I was a kid I really enjoyed the Fallout video games. The old big band music they used that was sugar sweet in a depressing hell hole of a world, was just perfect. Listening to a 1940's upbeat tune while exploring an abandoned, dilapidated subway system will always be something near and dear to my heart.

This was from 2002 before it became mainstream 2 years later.

When my borderline-millenial self was young my musical tastes were (and I guess still are) mostly completely ruined shaped by the high-bpm drum-and-bass like tunes you'd find in stuff like Unreal Tournament and its many many clones.

All depends what kind of mood I'm in to be honest.. I can listen to system of a down...and then bash out the beatles right after... I have a wide range of taste :)

every single music aired on MTV from 2005-2008 lolol man mtv was deffo part of my childhood music universe, i mean, the best musics out there (if we not consider the oldies) are from that particular moment in time, dang i miss mtv!

Can't say I grew up with them, but Rolling Stones are still up and kicking. There has been recently a concert not far from here, and they filled up the stadium. Not even my favourites, but they're legends.

My first favourite song ever was Wake Me up before you Go Go by WHAM! also really loved Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel, thought the intro sounded like a horse running so called it the horsey song

Growing up in London in the 70's, the music of choice was limited to the national radio stations occasionally local radio.

The channels were quite heavilly censored too

So as a kid I grew up loving the 2 tone movement.

then I went to tea with my mate of jamaican descent and his mom had tuned into a station with trojan factory ska and my life was changed forever.

this is the first tune I heard that got me hooked and I can literally still smell the Jerk chicken and mutton curry.
