| Through Hellfire Brimstone and. Las Vegas? | Started by: Kane on May 05, '22 07:29 |

The seven foot plus Kane was walking through devastated city of New York as it seemed to burn in fires that matched the horrendous fire that had engulfed his own home and scarred his now masked face. The place was a warzone buildings destroyed and corpses littered the streets around him, it felt like Kane was literally walking the streets of hell itself as he watched the city be thrashed around him.
Kane was walking by an alley when he heard a loud bang as a bullet whizzed by him, out of the alley came a man who's gun was leveled at Kane. "Who's side are you on? What money you got on you" Kane's vocal chords too damaged to speak tried to sign he had no idea about sides and showed he had no pockets, while the man unable to decipher Kane's poor sign language turned the safety on his gun off before another BANG was heard and the man in front of Kane dropped like a puppet who's strings had been cut.
Down the street came a woman holstering her weapon after ending the mans life before looking quizzically at Kane and motioning him to follow her.
As they walked down the street she introduced herself as Climax a crime boss out of Las Vegas, she watched as Kane tried to sign before getting frustrated with the events of today and just taking out a pen and paper and in very poor writing communicated with her telling her his name. She unlike many others who saw the massive man didn't seem afraid or repulsed but rather intrigued and invited him to become an associate to learn the ropes in her organization.
Pondering her proposal as he followed her through the city until they reached the airport when he finally scribbled down "You saved me, I now protect you". Climax grinned before motioning Kane onto the plane to take him back home to Las Vegas. Kane internally chuckled at the irony of him ending up in "the city of sin" somehow he felt like he would be right at home. |

As Climax sat next to the behemoth next to her on the plane (who, by the way, had to get two seats instead of just one for the extra room), she can't help but wonder about the things he's gone through. Along the edges of his masks, she could see severely scarred flesh, the type you get after a serious burn, but didn't want to pry until he was ready. Instead she felt a great wave of relief to have gotten him out of that warzone before it was too late, and that the war seemed to be wrapping up soon. They were finally in the clear, are now all they need to do is figure out what to make of the mangled pieces left behind by the gunfire and how they can use it to rebuild their city. She didn't even realise she'd dozed off before she felt Kane gently nudging her as the other passengers left their seats and started moving towards the exit. "Oh, my bad. I must have been so exhausted that I dozed off. We should probably get some rest as soon as we get back, then let's regroup in the morning." A car picked them up at the airport and the odd pair chatted a little bit about Las Vegas, passing pen and paper across from each other and giggling here and there. Kane seemed to love Sin City, his eyes bright with wonderment at the lights and his mind abuzz with questions which Climax gladly answered. It was great to have found a friend like him, but another pang of worry and curiosity poked at the woman... whatever happened to his voice? Even as they said their good nights and Climax showed Kane to his new room, she continued wondering. Before heading to bed, she made a quick call to the crew's on-call doctor and had him visit them tomorrow. The following day, Climax made her rounds in the HQ and introduced everyone to the new addition to their family, Kane. Although people were first taken aback by his appearance, everyone quickly saw what Climax saw in him: a gentle man who has the possibility to be a very fierce protector if worse comes to worst. As they all enjoyed breakfast together, a knock on the door was heard -- the doctor was here. Kane and Climax sat down with him and in great detail Kane opened up about the fire that destroyed his home, tugging at Climax's heartstrings. She looked desperately at the doctor if there was anything at all they could do for him, but he shook his head no and said that the damage done to his face and skin were far too grave to be saved. She put her head in her hands out of frustration before the doctor piped up again with some good news -- there was a procedure that could save his voice box though. There were far too many medical terms for Climax to keep up with, but it did spark a little bit of hope. "What do you say, Kane? The surgery definitely has its risks but at least it'll help you speak again. Shall we do it?" |
