"Grin-22 exalts in winning a duel, having gone out of his way to misdirect and confuse his opponent.  Yes, he won that battle.  But it is simply the latest battle between two bloodlines that once carved up and ruled this entire society.

What am I talking about?  I'm talking about Griz, and Kris.

Some say they are a myth.  A legend.  Others say that they existed.  Whatever the truth, it is true that they bear a close resemblance to bona fide person.  It is not for me to say who they are.  But I will talk about Griz, and Kris.

Griz headed up a large crew.  In fact, he controlled a city, and was reputed to wield influence across all eight cities.  Kris was different.  He led a crew, but not well.  He had influence, but it was of a different quality to Griz's.  Griz made things happened, motivated people.  Kris cast spells of people and made them lose their minds.  Griz was the Tin-Man, Toto and basically the entire cast of the 1939 motion picture film The Wizard of Oz, whilst Kris was the Wizard.  God help you if he cast a spell on you: he would made you act out in mad ways.  He once started talking to a man named Zip Klein.  Zip started getting angry, then went on a one-man war footing.  He tried to kill Kris, but failed.  Griz shot Zip, but allowed Kris to claim the hit.  They were like that, Griz and Kris: they worked well together.

Kris's ability to drive erstwhile sane gangsters to homicidal rage was of limited utility.  Griz's ability to take over cities, marshal troops, gain loyalty, and frighten wouldbe assassins was of far more use in the organised crime game.   Despite this, if we ignore around a dozen other powerful leaders, Kris was probably the second most important, powerful, and influential person in society at that time.

Until Griz got it into his stupid head that Kris wanted his crown.  Kris, Griz thought, started to cast his spells onto him.  Griz started listening to the dozen or so other powerful leaders omitted from this story who hated and feared Kris.  "He's such a dick" some one "why can't I kill him" said another.   The calls for Kris's murder grew and grew and grew.  

Eventually, both them died in unrelated incidents.  But their sons came back, and the suspicion crew.

It is rumoured their descendants prowl Detroit, eager to facilitate each other's downfall.

And whilst they are both far below the lofty heights they once resided in, their enemies are even more diminished. 

Kris is said to desperately want to repair the friendship, but Griz sees Kris as simply a power-hungry fool.

Time will tell."
