Busy day in Philly | Started by: Grif on Aug 27, '11 05:50 |
A rain drop lands on the tip of Grif's freckled, curvy nose. He looks up into the dark sky and gets the feeling that a storm is on the way. He makes his way through Elfreth's Alley with two of his greatest friends, Cassi and PARISo. As they continue down the familiar path, Grif let's out a sigh of relief.
I can't believe it. When I first started out in this thing of ours, I never would have expected to be where I am today. I've read journals and diaries of those before me and I remember a conversation my great great grandfather had with his Godfather. The man of my bloodline was extremely ambitious. He swore that he was going to do something great. He made a promise to his leader that he would be as successful as the man standing in front of him. His Godfather gave the man some interesting and unexpected advice. The Godfather told him to just go for the ride. Bluntly put, he said not to push for anything specifically. There's nothing wrong with striving to be the best but the unexpected surprises and twists and turns in our lives is what makes it so interesting. So let's have fun.
Grif notices that he's talking a bit much. He finds a bench on the side of the street and jumps on it.
Enough of the preachin. Let's get down to business. Today has been a great one for the city of Philadelphia. It's an amazing feeling approaching you all as a Godfather, sharing the same rank as the other city heads. To add to the excitement, I would like to take this opportunity to auth my newest Captain.
PARISo will be setting up a family of his own. The man has been with me for a long time and at first, I'll admit that I didn't like the guy. He never bathed or brushed his teeth but after whipping him into shape, I know he's going to do great things. He's definitely one of the hardest working guys I know.
That said, I would also like to take the time to appoint Cassi as the Underboss of Philadelphia. There aren't enough kind things to say about this woman. I could go on and on but I'll keep it brief. In the short time as my captain, she has brought in a decently sized following and I know she will raise them well. She stepped up to the plate when I needed her and I am forever grateful.
As he finishes his sentence, Grif feels another drop of rain fall from above. It starts to drizzle slowly and then suddenly shifts to heavy rain. Trying to talk over the noise, Grif yells.
Let's get out of this rain! Follow me. We can head to the casino around the corner. I just put on the final touches earlier today.
The group follows Grif and the others down the road and they turn to see a bright sign reading, “Philly's Grand Casino.” They run towards the building and rush inside.
This rain... terrible timing don't you think?
Grif winks at Cassi who was already busy playing Blackjack across the room. |

Grif, This family is exactly that a real family, we have watched and helped each other grow and I will always be proud to say I am part of it. This is my bloodline's proudest moment just to be here and salute you as my godfather. Philadelphia will remember this day forever, you and our city will do great not only for ourselves but for our friends in other cities. |

MikeHunt overhears the news of Mister Grif taking over the position of Godfather of Philly...
Godfather Grif, I cannot say how happy I am for this moment. My bloodline has served with you ever since it has made its return to these shores. I've only had the greatest things to say about your organization, and I continue to say the same. As Cassi has picked up more responsibility in the city, I can only hope that I help her along the way. Help her with all the trials of crime.
Pariso, its been great to have served along with you. Now I have the privledge to see you work as a Captain. Good luck my friend. To the city of Philly, its only up from here. |

After some good luck at the blackjack table, Cassi walked over towards Grif, stuffing a wad of bills into her purse. When she approached him, her smile lit up her whole face. |
