| The Coronation of the new King of Summerlin | Started by: Void on Aug 26, '22 15:41 |

Flyers had been spread throughout all of Vegas about a certain important event to be celebrated at the grand church situated in the vicinity of the Three Star Hotel. Though many had suspected what was about to happen, few had expected it to be such a prestigious event in all its bravado. Those interested in witnessing the coronation had gathered inside of the church in anticipation for what was to come. It was a beautiful sunny day, and a richly adorned carriage drawn forth by a pair of horses slowly pulled up to the church. Inside of it Hobbs could be heard murmering to a mirror "Mirror mirror on the wall, is this not the most perfect city of them all?" Before he could get his answer however, a fanfare of trumpets led by Bianca errupted in song to announce his arrival. Hobbs stepped out of the carriage and went over the horses to give them a sugar lump as thanks for their service but they wouldn't look at him for some reason... Hobbs whispered something in the ear of the driver and stepped towards the church's entrance. Waiting for him there was LittleBunnyFooFoo to escort him to the altar. Normally this task would've been carried out by 'Big daddy Giorgio' or 'Uncle twigs' as Hobbs would often call them, but given the tragic events of the past weeks LittleBunnyFooFoo was happy to act as a surrogate guardian.
They strode together towards the altar where Don Daiquiri and Consigliere Treebeard were waiting for them clad in ceremonial robes with mitres fixed upon their heads (though in Treebeard's case some stray branches were sticking out). Hobbs stepped up on the altar and took a knee. Void walked up from the audience and proceeded to unroll a scroll, cleared his throat and pronounced as follows: "Hobbs! Prince of Summerlin! Recognising your valiant efforts in making Vegas and Summerlin a better and enjoyable place, your proven track-record as Prince and with the recent unfortunate demise of Giorgio-esposito, we are hereby crowning you, William Hobbs, as the new 'King of Summerlin'." "This in turn means that your new full title from this day forwards shall be 'Godfather William Hobbs, King of Summerlin, First of his name. Protector of the Streets, Investigator of dopplegangers and arson attacks. Lord-Commander of the wildly-successful Lottery Thyndicate, CEO of the Three-Star Hotel'. We shall also bestow the titles of 'Duchess of Summerlin' and 'Viscount of Summerlin' on LittleBunnyFooFoo and Spacepole respectively. May your reign be long and devoid of arson-related incidents, bababooey, amen." Void bowed towards Hobbs and gave him a pat on the back as he passed him by and left the altar, Treebeard walked up to Hobbs and fastened a cloak sporting the picture of an Otter around his back after which Daiquiri took out a magnificent crown with three stars on its rim and set it upon Hobbs' head. Hobbs stood up, new regalia in tow, and climbed on top of the comically-large throne behind him to watch over his underlings and friends as they cheered on his ascension.
The crowning was complete, now the population at large could only hope that the newly begotten power would not rise to Hobbs' head. What was to follow was a glorious feast befit for a King, followed by celebrations throughout the night. Hubbs had been employed as the jester and plenty of other entertainment had been provided for as well.
It was a good day, it was a three-star day. |

Previously before going to the church for the ceremony, the ladies of Las Vegas had taken on a salon to prepare themselves. Was plenty of chatter and many bottles of buck fizz were being drunk. It wasn't often they could just enjoy the coming of togetherness before a celebration. They all their hair done and make-up applied professionally. "Makes a change from a suit," Daiquiri said as she was placed in a nice dress, "Shame it be covered by a ceremonial robe soon" she continued to say as she poured yet another glass of fizz down. She looked around and could see Don LittleBunnyFooFoo had a lovely tiara placed on her head. She was sparkling and gorgeous. Anyone would think they were all about to go attend a wedding, not a man becoming a Godfather. But still, everyone involved knew that Don Hobbs was no ordinary man. Daiquiri couldn't help but think back at all the memories of what led up to this moment. So many antics. So much he has done for the city of Las Vegas. To the outside, he may look like a jester or some clown but when it came down to it, he was one of the sanest within the borders of the city. His heart is full of care for his people, he was an asset. It's just the outside that would think he was a little silly. Okay, he was that too, he did cause some dramas out in the streets with the old families of Detroit. But luckily it was always fixable. Luckily they gave him back just as much to keep him on his toes. Daiquiri couldn't help but feel a little sad then, she knew he of wanted them there too. Just to show what a 'throne' should look like. Unlike the filthy ones at the 12th Street Toilets. Still, today was a beginning of a new era and it was almost time to get underway. Don Bianca had made her way off towards the church. She had an important job to do. Maybe it was because she had drunk so many glasses to help her nerves. Daiquiri knew she will be fine. Don LittleBunnyFooFoo had been picked up to go be with Don Hobbs on the tour to the church and Daiquiri was being escorted to the church to get there before everyone else. She met up with her Right-Hand man Treebeard and some of the others there waiting. Her hands and herself got themselves ready into the robes and went to wait by the throne chair. Daiquiri couldn't help but feel proud to be at this moment. Sadly it was due to lost friends and the previous Godfather of Summerlin, Giorgio-Esposito, but she knew he would be so proud of him. She also felt he would be there in spirit, maybe a cat or something or a pigeon. Who knows what happens once we go? But for sure she knew he would be proud of him. Just as Godfather twigs would be of him too. A new chapter has begun in Las Vegas and the people oweret was determined to move forward to the best of their abilities. Eventually, the event was underway. The lead-up to the church has happened and Don Hobbs was going through the ceremony and amazingly taking it as seriously as it should be. Despite having to have everyone see him get helped up to his throne. He was carrying himself well. He sure was gaining a lot of titles. So many that Daiquiri knew she would struggle to remember them all. She found herself thinking that she must get her hands, Treebeard and Void, to write them all down for her. She felt the touch of Don BunnyFooFoo being made a Duchess a rather nice to hear, after all the lady has been beside Hobbs for a long time and had to endure a lot from him. Daiquiri of known she of worked above and beyond for him. It was nice to see that she too was being awarded and recognised for her work. The same goes for Don Spacepole, he had worked off his little beby with helping the city rid its invaders and stepped up to the plate when Giorgio-Esposito was taken down. The crown went on to Hobbs's head. He was pronounced Godfather. His eyes sparkled and some could say he had a little tear roll down his face of joy. He sure looked handsome. Daiquiri couldn't help but think that she should've got him to trim his hair a bit so that the crown sat more snuggly and not lop-sided on his ginger bushy hair. But she soon realised it was perfect the way it was. Soon enough, it was time for the street parades to get to the place they would celebrate with a feast fit for a king. Coming up to the present time as the banquet party got underway, Daiquiri could see everyone enjoying themselves as they ate the rich roods and drank continuously. The jesters were doing amazing work entertaining people and the music playing from the bands was superb. She knew it was time for her to say some words in the new Godfathers honour. She whispered to her left-hand hand man Void to grab the room' attention. He did, he borrowed a trumpet and tried to play the tune 'twinkle twinkle little star' from it. It worked, everyone turned and glared at him for it was dreadfully out of tune. Daquiri saw her chance and stood up to speak. "Ladies and Gentlemen. I apologise for that interruption there. I will talk to him about it later, I promise!" She paused for a moment as people began to listen in more. "We all know why we are here today. It is to celebrate the ascension of Hobbs to Godfather. Even though we have had some very busy, chaotic days lately, this is very well deserved. I know, if either of our lost Godfathers were here and able to say words now, it would be full of praise to the new Godfather of Summerlin." Again she paused for a moment to took a sip of her drink. She nodded to some waiters to start handing out glasses of champagnes to everyone. "As you can see, you are all now being given a flute of champagne. We shall soon be making a toast to Hobbs. But first, let me say some words to him" She said as she turned to face the new godfather. "Godfather Hobbs I am so proud of you. You have worked from the ground up to the position you now are in. You got there by working for it hard for our city. You are proof this is how it should be. Outsiders may look from the outside thinking they know all about us here, but they do not. Las Vegas has rewarded those who do work for it since the forever war. It has supported those willing to try to help build our city. You truly are a remarkable man. My bloodline has no history with you whatsoever and I for one, as many others here and those that we have lost are proud to have you come into our lives. Please be proud of all you have achieved." She picked up her flute of champagne and asked the room to join in with a toast. "Long live Godfather Hobbs, Long live the king!" |

Days before, Foo was sitting in her penthouse at the Three Star Motel when a telegram arrived saying Giorgio-Esposito had been killed. She quickly left to find Hobbs, thankfully safe. It wasn’t long after that twigs was also gunned down. As the face of Las Vegas changed quickly, it was decided that Hobbs would take Godfather of Summerlin when the time was right. Upon hearing this good news out of all the darkness of late, Foo began to reminisce. Hobbs’ and Foo’s bloodlines went back a long time but as the crime world split years ago, they had lost contact. It was Hobbs who had started searching for Foo and thankfully word spread and the two reunited. Hobbs was going to set up under Giorgio in Las Vegas and asked if Foo would come along. She was delighted to reconnect the bloodlines and excited to work for Hobbs, so very quickly accepted. Hobbs had always been active in the streets and enjoyed the banter with the basketball guys from Detroit. He also had his own businesses and frequented many others. The crew grew, some people left but mostly people joined and stayed. Fiercely loyal and forever grateful to Giorgio, Hobbs rose as a well known and respected Don. The Three Star Mob was as happy and strong as ever. Of course, as usual, Hobbs needed two women to keep him in line. CatoftheCanals and Foo worked together, tirelessly to keep the goofy, silly Hobbs in check. Earlier in the day, Foo had gone to the salon with the other Vegas ladies. It was a nice pampering and after the stressful days not that long ago, most needed too. She had set up a visit to the barbershop for Hobbs and some of the boys. Although he’d never let his hair be cut too short, and hence the lopsided crown later in the day, Hobbs would enjoy a shave and some downtime as well. Foo had gone shopping the day before and had gifted Hobbs some new cufflinks and a pocket watch. She gave these to him in the carriage during the tour on the way to the ceremony. Luckily Foo had foreseen Hobbs dressing in a rush and forgetting cufflinks. Her gift definitely brought him up to Godfather standards. As the pair walked towards the altar, she could sense the excitement Hobbs was feeling but also a little bit of nerves. She stood by his side while the honours were presented to him and was so proud of her boss and friend during his ceremony. Foo was expecting anything for herself and was humbled when the Duchess title was bestowed upon her. As Daiquiri finished her speech at the banquet, Foo stood with her champagne flute in hand. It was time to toast her Godfather (although, a roasting would suit him as well). “Hobbs, my boss, my friend. Not every day, in getting here, was easy. I know you’d rather be taking this title under other circumstances but we both know you’d have never left Giorgio’s side as well. You have worked hard and earned this more than anyone I know. Although you love your friendly banter and fun, you can be very serious and a strong, compassionate leader also. I am so proud of you and so glad I was able to serve by your side, as I will continue to for what I hope to be a very long time. To Godfather Hobbs!”. |

Although he had left his home city of Las Vegas, Justice was never far from the hustle and bustle of events that happened there. He had received an invite some days ago alerting him to the soon to be coming ascension of his former city brethren Hobbs. Straight away he had booked a flight and made sure his finest gown was pressed. Justice had even considered going full English judge mode and putting a wig on, but didn't fancy having an itchy head all night. The lice took care of that anyway. Touching down in Las Vegas, he made his way to his old district to pay his respects. The driver then took him to the soirée in Summerlin. A fine spread was laid out in front of him, which he delightfully helped himself to. The man of the hour looked resplendent in his garbs, a beaming smile across his face. Well earned from the effort that had gone into achieving such a position. He had seen first hand the work that Hobbs had put in to gain his new title. He crossed cities and country to better relations. He gave speeches that left the public in shock, usually not for the right reasons. But he deserved this, and Justice had come to congratulate him. After hearing others pay their respects, Justice walked up to him. Envelope in hand, he passed it to Hobbs as he patted him on the back. There was nothing in it, it was all about the illusion. It would surely get lost among all the others and Hobbs would never notice. Congratulations Godfather Hobbs, it's good to see you rising to the occasion. A well deserved promotion for a man who frequents my filthy public toilets. Maybe next time we'll clean them up for you a bit, or put a plaque in your honor or something. As Hobbs had decided to open the envelope in front of him, Justice needed a quick distraction to ensure his getaway. He pointed towards the end of the room and shouted LOOK! A RAT!. A pool of guns were suddenly drawn, and whilst attention was elsewhere, Justice slunk off into the night. |

With the official and highly formal ceremony out of the way, Void could finally kick back, relax, and enjoy the festivities. He had shed his ceremonial robes in favor of his regular sleezy-but-comfortable clothes by now instead. Seeing the new King of Summerlin gorge himself on a gravy-filled yorkshire pudding, Void went up to his frenemy and tapped him on the shoulder. Seeing him dressed in his new royal attire made Void a bit worried that the next time he'd slight his frenemy, that a guillotine might be the reward for his insolence, so Void made a note to be more careful in the future. But now was not the time for such petty worries, it was the time for celebrations instead. "Hobbs, my heartfelt congratulations on your ascension to Hobbsfatherhood, though the road has been a long and arduous one you've managed to keep your head high and march on. Not even mafia-basketball/the 12th Street Public Toilets, a whole legion of impostors, or the army of SummerlinCL could stop you in your tracks. It makes me very happy to see you succeed the late Giorgio (god rest his soul)." "Besides the frequent calls for my execution, I know that your heart's in the right place. Continue to liven up this world and the streets as you always have and I'm sure Summerlin will continue to thrive." Void held up his glass and joined Daiquiri in the toast. "Long live Godfather Hobbs, Long live the king!" |

Leonard the bellman she befriended at the hotel gave Mai an heads up about the celebration being held for Don Hobbs at the grand church situated in the vicinity of the Three Star Hotel. He had smashed up some vehicles on the car lot but had never met him personally. She thought to herself this would be a good opportunity to actually meet him. She chose to wear the beautiful lime color, off the shoulders lace dress she bought from Dress to Impress. After looking the mirror, giving a few touch ups to her makeup she made her way over to the church. What a grand celebration it was indeed. Sure was a lot of drinking going on for it to be in a church. In her journals he is perceived to be a very influential man, so she figured probably anything goes. Kind of nodding to the people as she walked in further she was so relieved to see Dons Daiquiri and Justice. She immediately walked over and greeted them. As they talked she looked around, recognized the man of the hour. She had to laugh to herself, funny how she had seen him at his casino surrounded by some of the same entourage of bodyguards. When she saw none other than his bodyguards around him she excuses herself and walked to where he was standing. At first a little intimidated by his the guards but walked right by them, up to him. Congratulations on your well-deserved success Godfather Hobbs. Obliviously your good work and perseverance have paid off. My name is Mai, it an honor to be in the mist this wonderful celebration. |

"Long live Godfather Hobbs, Long live the king! Long live Godfather Hobbs, Long live the king! Long live Godfather Hobbs, Long live the king!" the guests at the celebrations were cheering over and over again. Between every speech that was made, it made the everyone go back into the chant. All in honour of Godfather Hobbs. The celebrations was a sight to see. The energy was amazing. Daiquiri was very pleased with how it all came together for the new Godfather of Summerlin. She turned to Void to express her delight, "Truly remarkleable. I am so please it has all been a success. Noone even noticed that he had to be lifted up to his throne! What do you think?" she asked out of curiosity, before sipping yet more champagne. As she awaited Void to reply to her, she couldn't help it, mischief came over her. "Godfather Hobbs, isn't it your turn to do a speech?" she shouted over the crowds to him, with a smile. Again, she couldn't help but wondered if he could actually do something serious for a change, whilst in public. |

Just a quick pop in to say a late congratulations to Godfather Hobbs. I have never and would never say a bad word about the man and if anyone were to, I'd fight them in an instant. I would die for Hobbs. So, watch yourselves. This man is the best of us. He might not be traditionally handsome but he is as smart as a whip. He might not be tall or have good hair but he's rich and has rejected many lovers in favor of maintaining his chastity and commitment to God. I am so confident in Hobbs being the greatest non-Chairman Godfather this world has ever seen, I would like to apply a challenge put forth by the famous mafia text, Systematic Immolation of Thought:
Show me one instance of Hobbs not being the model mafioso. It's impossible. Only if something were to be presented would my allegience and worship of Hobbs ever waver. But I won't wait. Congratulations, Hobbs. I love you. I am literally in love with you. You don't have to say it back. |

Hobbs was sat waiting for the fireworks to begin. He had been promised the greatest fireworks known to man, including one that would turn itself into a humongous golden dragon. He was caught off guard when there were calls for a speech, but he had sort of prepared. He stood up and allowed those in attendance to quieten down. "Thank you for all your kind words. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Especially if you have a well publicised noodle neck. I have in my possession a story of my life. An autobiography as it were. It details my life, from my first arrival on these shores as a fresh faced rascal with a zest for life. I followed my King Giorgio Esposito into battle and from there became part of a mighty journey. I grasped the proverbial ring of power and climbed to the top. I present to you my story" Hobbs held it aloft, 'Hobbs: There and Back Again - An Unexpected Journey' "It will of course go on display in the Detroit Public Library, where it will sit proudly on shelf alongside 'Systematic Immolation of Thought' and The Spaghetti Chronicles Volume 1, author unknown." He was old, he told everyone who listened he was in the final stages of his life at the pristine age of thirty-three. His back was in pieces, his agility had long since abandoned him. Multiple attempts at "The truth is I never expected to get this far, and even this achievement is tinged with sadness as it was only possible following the death of my friend and mentor Upset that he was ending on an emotional note, Hobbs decided to ruin the tone "As celebration of my achievement, I require a sacrifice that we can burn to appease the God(father). After his kind words, I will not burn Void on this occasion, but I will need another sacrifice." |
