Clouds Hang Over The Midwest Started by: PlagueDoctor on Aug 24, '22 16:17

Four months ago, Detroit and its neighbor Chicago were some if not the most powerful cities within the country.

And four months ago, they, along the general majority of the country, were obliterated within a week.

Throughout the initially slow rebuild process (not like it can be blamed, right?) faces emerged from the rubble and worked together to try and shine some light on what remained of the Midwest.

HeadCoach took light of an opportunity and turned it into an empire. And regardless of your thoughts on it all, despite the city being mostly limited to themselves, the motivation and power that rippled from its existence is still one to commend. It's not easy to rally enough continued support around a singular organization, and basketball is no easy feat to try and maintain a championship-level team with. And yet, they prevailed, regardless of if it only lasted momentarily.

Illuminatiated emerged from the depths of the unknown and took charge of what remained of The Windy City after harboring those trying to avoid the crossfire of war, including me. They rallied quite a large following and they too turned a meager startup into a bustling city. Having old connections certainly makes that easier for you, and part of me wonders whether I should have stayed along for their ride than taking the bus down to Philadelphia.

Both sides eventually reached the height of their following and initial power, and for a moment, it looked like the light might return to the two cities and have both restored to the status they once had.

And as we all know, politics and motivations aside, it only lasted momentarily once again.

One sister turned on another, and then the rest of the family came and put them in the corner.

Now that the otherwise large mass of invaders who preyed on our sleep have been thoroughly disposed of, the Midwest once again is empty. It's no longer burning, nor is it full of rubble, but the screams of the wind are deafening, and the usual sounds of the motors are nowhere to be seen. 12th Street and North Side have vanished into thin air. Are the districts under construction? Perhaps. Has the law occupied them? Maybe.

Chicago and Detroit will recover. The light will break through. Someone will sooner or later step up to the task.
