Viva Las Vegan Started by: Hobbs on Sep 17, '22 10:34

It has been remarked that the many cities of this Mafia life are stagnating. Inactives are routinely shamed. My best friend @Soasbowski is busy writing memoirs about the 1930s labor movement. Many here lack a purpose in life. I myself have drifted in recent weeks, struggling to find something to wake up for. Thankfully, I have finally seen the light. I have found a way to save the planet and make a boatload of money in the process. Viva Las Vegas. No.. Viva Las Vegan. The future is here. Your city needs you. Nay, the planet needs you."

Hobbs proudly unveiled a 'Meat is Murder' banner and waited for the cheers of the crowd to rise.

"I am here today to announce that Summerlin, Las Vegas, is now a fully Vegan district with all the associated rules of such a thing. Naturally there will be a seven day transition period for people to get on board and close down any meat or dairy business, but a week today it will be very much 'down with that sort of thing' with Vegan Prohibition in full effect. I have already been on contact with my good friend Justice, and he has agreed to amend the 18th amendment and introduce the amended-amendment Hobbstead Act."

Hobbs paused, he was sure people would be wondering what turned Hobbs to the light.

"People are probably wondering what turned me towards salvation. But first let me address a certain stigma. People think Vegans only ever talk about being Vegan. I refute that. Let me instead tell you about the time I saved Mafia Basketball and helped reforge and reform its image. I remember waking up the morning of Headcoach's death, eating avacado on toast that I downed with a kale rich smoothie, I said to myself "If Headcoach was ever to die from too much red meat and ale that I, Hobbs, would live forever due to my healthy vegetable rich lifestyle.". Coach perished, along with his entire city, whereas I, survived. Is that not example enough? It's a philosophy that has kept me safe when other Godfather's have been murdered in their bed by rogues."

Obligatory pause to say RIP to Giorgio Esposito, twigs and Gnoch

"Some notable characters in Las Vegas are not quite fully on board the Vegan train. I present you the wall of shame:

Outkast: "Vegans are slowly killing themselves due to a lack of vitamin D which  no plant on this planet can substitute for the amount in red meat"

Isabella: "This lettuce died just so you could live."

Void: "Is spaghetti vegan? I hate spaghetti"

Spacepole: "I'm 16 stone. You don't get that big being a vegan"

"In time they will learn. They will succumb to the temptation to live a pure and noble lifestyle. For now we can all point and laugh at their ignorance.

Hobbs stopped for one final point

"I just want to reassure eversayone that in the coming days I will NOT be out here interrupting any and all discussions to talk about being Vegan or the Vegan lifestyle. My delicious looking friend SassyPeach will be out here to collect donations to the cause on my behalf. Please give generously.

Outkast steps to the podium for a brief minute.

Hobbs has a secret imaginary friend named Calvin and I believe his influence is ruining the balance in LV. I mean one minute it's vegetables and the next it's the world. This man must be force fed red meat.

Harvey was seeing an opertunity. The Mafia had made a fortune running alcohol in the 20s and 30s with the Volstead act, here was a chance to do the same with meat, leather and baked goods in Vegas under the Hobbstead act. His first reaction had been to challenge the legality of controlling people's diet as itself unconstitutional, but then again Justice was easily bought, and Hobbs had deep pockets. It wasn't his own money that made them deep, but the death of his friends like Head Coach that had made them deep. Everyone knew that Hobbs couldn't make money if his life depended on it, his ability to adapt to change was slower than continental drift, but he had a team of schyster Attorneys willing to change the will's of his friends upon their deaths to make Hobbs the main beneficiary. He had to admit that it was kind of poetic, Hobbs, the man who fought to prevent the development of Basketball as a major league sport becoming its main proponent.

Time, therefore, to travel to Vegas and open a Parts store... an animal parts store. He wondered what Cobb would think of a business opertunity such as this, Isabella would certainly be on board.

It was refreshing to see Hobbs' corpulent face again after what can only be described as a temporary lapse in his public appearances. Void had been vaguely aware that Hobbs had been lost in introspection, trying to figure out what the meaning of life was, why he got up in the morning, and where to spend his free time now that the 12th Street Public Toilets were forever closed.

What Void had not expected however, was to find his mortal frenemy suddenly advocating for a meat-free lifestyle. Hobbs was probably the person he had least expected to do so.

"Hobbs, what is this madness? How can the person who once loved to gorge himself on succulent horse steaks suddenly reject meat altogether? What's happened to you? How much avocado and soy is coursing through your veins right now? Be honest!"

Void held out his right arm, after which his trusty companion Carrot landed on it, looking as grumpy as ever. "HOBBS SOY, HOBBS SOY" it screeched. Void affectionately scratched its feathered chin and handed Carrot some peanuts. "Yes Carrot, I completely agree." He turned back to Hobbs.

"Is this because you feel guilt for all those ALLEGED horses that were ALLEGEDLY slaughtered to make that ALLEGEDLY delicious horse stew in the Three Star Hotel? Has the guilt become too much to bear? Do you still hear the gallopping of all those noble creatures that perished in your sleep at night? Is that it?"

"As you can see this raises a lot of questions for me personally. I am not fully convinced yet that this isn't just another scheme to befuddle the masses. Though on the other hand I could very much picture you going on some sort of Vegan Inquisition, brocoli scepter in hand and cauliflower mitre placed upon your MASSIVE head. I just hope that this time nobody (nor any businesses) will end up getting burnt at a stake."

"Now please excuse me while I go eat a hamburger at the local cafe."

After finishing up her steak and eggs Isabella was notified with the alarming news that Hobb has once again escaped quarantine. Before she contacted the HR department of the healthcare facility treating him, she thought best to notify the community that Hobbs is in fact highly contagious with a virus he caught consuming plant-based foods.

He will stand here before you and advocate this diet, but he neglected to inform you that plant-based foods are far more likely to contain harmful bacteria. Hense why he was recently quarantined. In addition to his physical ailments, he is also under psychiatric observation. His faculties are in question. Whether this can be linked to this meatless diet is under study. In the meanwhile, should you run into Hobbs run in the other direction and contact Daiquiri.

It was quiet day in the office for Daiquiri, or so she thought. She was quite content with her feet up on her desk reading her mails, when she heard Void running through the headquarters. "Hobbs gone to the streets, Hobbs in the streets. I've just heard!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, as he ran around like a headless chicken. It made Daiquiri drop her feet to the ground from her desk to stand up and to make her way to the hallway, only to see Void still running up and down the corridor. "STOP!" she yelled at him, making Void stand to attention. "Have you been on the Coco Pops again?" she snapped at Void, who replied "No! Mr Wish cooked me an English breakfast. Sausages, Bacon, Black Pudding and all the trimmings. Imagine what it be like with no meat?", he finished up saying, as he began to rise up into a panic again. With a confused look upon her face, Daiquiri got Void to calm down and to explain everything properly back in her office.

After some chatting amongst themselves a decision was made, "I need to go find out some more, Void. But first, do go put some clothes on and please do not let me catch you running around in just underpants again!" Daiquiri told him, as she watched him once again run off to get himself sorted.

A few hours went by and Daiquiri had not heard news back from Void at all. Curiosity got the better of her, as she put on her coat to then take a walk to the streets. As she arrived, she over heard Void shouting at Hobbs that he was off to a cafe for a hamburger. She could tell it must've been a heated conversation, as she made her way over to talk to the King of Summerlin.

Daiquiri was both horrified and relieved at the same time as Hobbs filled her in about his notice to the masses. She was very relieved that he has learnt his lessoon from previous times to not talk for the entire city of Las Vegas. But also horrified and worried for the residents of Summerlin, to no longer have a choice on what they decide to eat.

"Hobbs, Have you ever wondered why your arms are thin like a piece of string?" she began to enquire. Hobbs looked at her, like it was the first interaction they ever had. "Do you want a bit of Celery, Le Celery-the-great?" Hobbs asked her. She couldn't help but notice that the celery stick was looking more like a tree log in his hands than a thin bit of salad. It just proved he was seriously missing out on foods that would fatten him up, to make him look more lean. "Whats wrong Hobbs? Is it money? Can you not afford meat and other goodies for your district? Do you need an intervention to occur?" she began to ask as she watched him tidy up all his fruit and vegetables in order of colour. He didn't seem to hear her. "Very well Hobbs!" Daiquiri finished up saying as she made her way to make a stand.

"Ladies and Gents, I commend the Godfather of Summerlin for standing by his principles, which is fine. But this message is more towards the residents of Summerlin. Should you need some 'good stuff' to eat, then please contact Wish of The Forest headquarters in The Strip. I am sure he will be happy to knock you up a good Bacon and Sausage rolls, to fill your belly up with. We just ask that you do the dishes in return!" she finished up saying as she made her way back around the crowds to gather opinions.

"I thank you all for your positive and unanimous support of my new lifestyle. There comes a time in every King's life when he must put down the turkey leg, and instead hold a loft a powerful tree of broccoli instead. Nothing says I'm a hugely manly man like carrying a loft a huge tree of Broccoli. Daiquiri, I take on board your advise but I must reject and refute it. You see, I am a man in peak physical condition. I'm a man who can lift a floret in one hand, gobble a load of nuts and milk a bean for my afternoon coffee. You don't get that kind of ingenuity feasting on chicken nuggets or kapsalon. Meat is murder. Meat is slowing you down."

Hobbs paused and looked at the poor malnourished form of Elkmik roaming the Las Vegas Forest. A Wolf was there too, no doubt eyeing up it's supper.

"In your city you have the hunter and the hunted. Allow me to bring Elkmik to Summerlin where he can be safe from all harm. No longer milked, but left to live in peace and propserity as part of a growing district of success."

You see, already we see new life flow into the city. I have to commend Harvey_Specter for coming here and opening up an Auto-Parts business. I've not been there myself as I personally find cars distasteful and bad for the planet, but I respect a man who openly proclaims he's not in an animal slaughtering business."

Hobbs was feeling like a loud proud Vegan. He took a bite of a delicious vegan apple and sighed enjoying the flavour. Pre-veganism he'd no doubt be gobbling a sausage like Isabella or Geralt did in their Paradisian HQ.

"Void, as you state, those are all alleged offences that I seriously dispiute. Clearly the old Chicago regime were murdered for the horse atrocities they committed so I consider the matter closed. Some have suggested that I have gone Vegan in part due to the irrefutable supply chain shortages of horse meat, but I once must again deny all those allegations. Was an (alleged) horse burger the best burger I've ever had? Quite possibly. Did the Summerlin Hotel & Casino serve a mystery meat stew that you were very fond of? Definitely feasible. The truth is we may never know what sent me down this path to enlightenment. All we can be is thankful for it."

Hobbs, if you were made out of lentil and quinoa instead of gamey meat, I would take a big bite out of you. I 2ould cook you up in a delicious ratatouille. I would smother you in miso and toss you in with some noodles. I am, and have always been, a proud Vegan. Your latest and most delicious effigy of Void, constructed out of eggplant and cauliflower, was a barbeque for the soul. Hail Satan, brother.

As she began to wander around the crowds she heard Hobbs begin to speak up again. She stood where she was to listen in. She mumbled to herself, "Oh Hobbs tut tut" as she then made her way over to him, once again.

"Noone is against you choosing your lifestyle, I came here to offer support to those who don't swing that way too. I think you have too much cauliflower in your ears to listen well! If you want to sit and nibble on sunflower seeds, do it. If you want to nibble on the best pumpkin seeds you can find, do it! Just don't expect everyone else to want to do the same!" she paused for a moment before she continued. "As for the Wolves of The Forest, not once have I ever seen them get hostile towards elkmik!"

She stopped ranting for a minute as she spotted in the distance a hot dog cart had parked up. One could not resist the aromas that were coming in their direction, the fried onions, the hot dogs cooking and the smell of the beefiest of beefburgers grilling too. She couldn't quite make out who was serving, but the sound of the man's voice calling the masses to get some food was surely familiar to her. She couldn't help it, her attention was no longer on Hobbs as she started to slowly walk towards where the food was cooking.
