Luna, eldest child of four born to father Miguel and mother Yuna. She was born overseas in her home country Philippines but when she was very young she moved to the US of A, New York to be exact, in a cozy mansion guarded by iron gates. Beyond was a gravel driveway, a bit of a nightmare at first, but soon led to the grand entrance which was home to Rose of Sharon bushes and Camellia flowers. The house itself was luxurious by rich people's standards- herself and her siblings each had their own room, and there was also the living room, dining room, two guest rooms, and one other room where her father held business meetings. She would always remember as a child that the house always smelt like whiskey and cigarettes, but over time she got used to it. She had a large swimming pool to distract herself with plus a tall willow tree right outside her bedroom, which she had grown to love over the years. Whenever she had any personal issues going on in her life she would sit under it. Besides being the boss of a local mafia gang, Luna's dad was the owner of three other companies- a construction company, newspaper joint, and a pizza restaurant. To Luna and her other siblings, he was their hero, a Jack of all trades. His obsession was fast cars as and always owned the newest models, imported. The garage literally looked like a car dealership with all the cars perfectly polished and displayed. Of course her dad's biggest strength was also his biggest weakness - his ego. He was never satisfied with what he had - he wanted more. Unfortunately, that's exactly how he died. His greed got the best of him.
Her mother didn't seem to be coping very well after the passing of her dad. She looked to be motionless in bed, like she was waiting to roll over and die and be with Miguel. Her mother's death came as no surprise, but it still broke Luna's heart in pieces. Luna sat there next to the hospital bed that laid her dying mother as she held her delicate pale fingers. She'd hold her hand, stare into her eyes, and try to find the smile she'd been longing to see since her dad died. "The world is yours, my little Luna… always remember that." She would say, looking down at Luna with her warm eyes. Many years later, Luna and her siblings were all grown up, and every year on both their parents' death anniversaries they made it a tradition to meet at the family home in New York. Everyone had their own life and families to protect, but they honored their parents no matter what. Even years after their passing, the pain was still there… they just learnt to live with it. It was kind of abandoned now too- only the hired maids and gardeners came by once a week to maintain the house.
"Hey sis," Miko smoothly kissed Luna's cheek before stepping in. That was her brother- a ruthless and extremely successful businessman but he had a soft spot for his big sister Luna. She became like his second mother, especially after their mum passed away. An hour later Ani and Jax presented themselves. Ani was a creative architect living comfortably in a single-bed apartment only a few minutes away from the family home. She couldn't get herself to move too far away. And she didn't grow up to be super rich like her big sis Luna or hot-shot Miko, but she was happy with what she had. She was the simplest of them all, and had a heart of gold. Jax on the other hand was more or less the asshole of the pack. He played the casino tables and the ladies. Yeah… that kind of guy. He was also very over-protective of his siblings, much like Miko, both taking after their dad. "For our parents," they held up their wine glasses over the dinner table. Luna was teary-eyed. Miko placed his hand over hers. "Luna, you okay?" She sniffed, fighting back the tears and tried to play it off. She wanted to stay strong for her siblings. "I'm fine, just remembering all the good memories we shared with our parents. Anyways I'm happy we all could make it. Here's to our loving and caring parents." Luna took a sip, smiling warmly afterwards. Despite their kindness though, Luna was grateful that she was also raised by strict parents who taught her about manners no matter who you were speaking to and that not everything would be spoon-fed to her. She and her other siblings had to say grace before their meals and when they were done, were instructed to clean and put the dishes away.
After dinner with her siblings, they all sat around the fireplace. A heart-to-heart conversation soon followed.
"When are you going to settle down, Lun? Have a couple of kids." Miko stared at the flames numbly, before turning to her with a raised eyebrow.
Luna returned the same curious facial expression. "What do you mean Miko? It's not my time yet. Still have so much I want to do, to see, and experience. I'm only just getting started," she smiled mischievously.
Speaking of new experiences, she was in the hands of crew leader Vidal now.
With no actual experience being in a mafia gang, she was the real rookie. But nevertheless she got recruited- was it her last name that got her in? Or did she truly have the drive to rise up the ranks of the mafia? Luna liked to think the latter was true, but whatever helped her sleep at night. She started from the bottom, but she knew there was going to be no shortcuts. And Luna worked, even weekends, trying to build her savings and make meaningful relationships. She tried her best to show her potential, remembering the words her mother once said to her…
