Fortress of Solitude Started by: Stanczyk on Jan 10, '23 19:18

It was the first visit to the new Headquarters after Hermitage recently relocated to the east coast.
The dense traffic had caused a slight delay but when Stanczyk arrived he saw that Leftalone was in already busy with a conversation involving Tessa. Stanczyk approached Leftalone and tapped him on the shoulder.

Leftalone glanced over his shoulder...

"Not right now Stanczyk, I'm busy."

Stanczyk smiled and took a few steps back. Leftalone continued his conversation with Tessa. After a few minutes of waiting Stanczyk cleared his throat. Annoyed, Leftalone looked at Stanczyk again and responded:

"You can see I'm busy, can't it be later? What's going on?"

Stanczyk presented Leftalone with his very widest smile and said:  "Hi, I'm here at your request boss"... and let out a nervous laughter.

Leftalone asked Stanczyk to take a seat at the table, nodded at one of the guys at the front door and went back into his office room with his captains.
A waiter approached Stanczyk with a drink.

After what felt like an eternity a man approached Stanczyk and quietly ask him to follow him into the boss' office.

Stanczyk became nervous and started wondering whether his jokes had gone too far? Was the boss really angry?

Arriving in the office, the door was closed behind Stanczyk and Leftalone picked up a package from the table. It was a nicely wrapped package with a large bow on top.

"Sorry about the secrecy and lack of transparency, this is serious stuff. Just open the package."

And so Stanczyk untied the bow and opened the box. He was a little bit worried that a clown would jump out, but fortunately that didn't happen. Inside the box was a key and a bill. Stanczyk looked questioningly at Leftalone.

"We're certainly not tired of your jokes yet, but it's time to move to your own headquarters and start setting up your crew."

Naturally, Stanczyk was delighted by this news and made a leap of joy in the air. Quickly he picked up the key and ran to the adjacent building where he made his headquarters.

It had been a rather whirlwind of a day... a day that she knew was coming but a day that she wasn't really ready for. The majority of it, was planned. We all knew that Leftalone was going to force out the old Manhattan Godfather and take the throne but everything after that was, for lack of better words, surprising.

As she walked into the new Godfathers Headquarter... which was the same one, just a tad smaller for some reason. Perhaps he inherited more stuff, which was why the space seemed smaller? Was rather odd, cause it was legit the same place, just smaller. It was a thought that she just couldn't wrap her head around... it must have just been something that was over her head, was best not to question it. Shaking that notion off, Miranda made her way past the string of people in line to see the Godfather.

Should she have waited in line like all the rest? Perhaps but she didn't have the time.. well she had the time, she didn't have the patience. It was something that she rather lacked in general. Though she did wait the few seconds it took for the person in the room to finish their congratulations before pushing her way in.

"Hey boss... er, Godfather... Congratulations." She spoke while standing across from him.

His response a simple smirk and a nod before himself speaking.

"Thank you! And congratulations to you as well..."

The amount of confusion, he caused with in her mind was massive. Why in the hell would he be congratulating her as well? She didn't do anything but perhaps look pretty while he was doing all the work.

"Thankssss....?" She said in a questioning type tone. Hoping that he would pick up on the way she said it.

Which he did and rather quickly, cause you know he is super smart like that. He responded with a chuckle and a nod to her left, towards a box sitting on one of his tables. It was your standard brown box, not super big but taped shut. Walking over to it, Miranda grabbed it and pulled it towards her. It wasn't very heavy but from the sounds of it contained a few loose items.

"For me?"

"Yup... I mean it is your stuff. So yeah it is for you."

Once again, the puzzled look on her face spoke for her. Was he really kicking her out? It made little to no sense to her, here she thought she had been a rather good little soldier but perhaps her views on it were a bit skewed... a bit bias.

"Uh... did I do something wrong?" Was the only thing she could muster out.

Once again he chuckled, this time it was a bit deeper than the last time.

"No! Not in the slightest, you have just been reassigned is all. Go speak to Stanczyk, he is in the building just next to us here. He will fill you in on everything else." He gestured towards the door, signifying it was now time for her to depart.

Still rather confused, she turned about and headed out the door. Stopping for a moment, turning her head and telling him congratulations once more before continuing on. Through the crowded hallway, out the door and over to the next building.

The front door was wide opened, a few people from the group were walking around and setting things up. From what she gathered, Stanczyk was now in charge of operations of this place. Which in itself wasn't much of a surprised, especially seeing his command of the personnel as she walked in his office.

Knocking on the inside of his door, Miranda watched as he turned face towards her. A smile from ear to ear upon his face.

"Miranda!!!! Just the person I was waiting for, come... come here." He waved her over.

An order that she followed.

"I was told to come see you, that you would explain everything? What's going on?"

He smiled... "Well you see all of his" He opened his arms, expressing the vast new space they were both standing in. "I've been given control of this little operations and you my dear, are gonna help me build it. You'll be my, number two..." He couldn't help but laugh at his number two comment. Which also made her chuckle. "The office right across the way is all yours, go set your stuff down, get situated and get ready to do some serious work. Cause there is a lot to do."

A rush of emotions filled her soul... The excitement for this opportunity was paramount but she held it together. This moment wasn't about her... This moment was all about Stanczyk and about the promising future they had ahead of them.

In the most composed manner she could muster up, Miranda began speaking.

"This is, awesome... congratulations on this fine establishment Stanczyk. I personally am thrilled to be on this journey with you. I feel the future is a rather bright one and I couldn't be happier to be on it with you." She gave him a subtle smile before continuing. "I'm gonna go drop this box and get to work but again congratulations."
