Caitlin had a good life with her mother, Leona, but now she was gone.  She always told her that this day would come but she never knew it would come on her 18th birthday.  They were so happy.  Her mother was so proud of her.  She was about to finish school in just a few months and her mother wanted to take her shopping for a brand new car.  They had looked at so many but that shiny red apple mustang was what she had always wanted and when she saw it, her mother knew that was the car.  She went inside to hand the money to the salesman who knew not to do anything shady with her because he knew who she was.  Everyone on the streets knew her.  She was moving up in the family so they knew not to mess with her as Hiro made sure of that.  She always called him Uncle Hiro.  As she was coming out of the car dealership, she had the biggest smile on her face as she looked at me.  She hugged me tight and then handed me the keys.

Suddenly she got a phone call and she screamed, "No not Hiro..."  She held her mom close.  "What's wrong Mom?"  She looked at me with tears rolling down her face, "Your uncle was gunned down.  It's not safe here.  We've got to go.  NOW". She nodded.  "Okay Mom, let's go."

They got into the brand new car her mom just bought her and raced down the streets of Chicago and there was gun fire everywhere.  Her mom told her to make a quick right and to head to the safe house.  She had played there everyday when she was growing up so she knew exactly where it was.  She parked the car and they saw the door was ajar.  She saw her mom grab her gun and said, "Wait in your car."  Caitlin protested, "But Mom no I want to be with you...."  Her mom gave her that look and she knew she had to listen.  She kissed her cheek and whispered, "I love you.  If I don't come out that door and you hear gun shots, do NOT come after me.  You have to live and keep our legacy alive.  Go to Las Vegas, you'll be safe there.  I want you to work for Isabella and no one else.  Tell her who you are if she approaches you and I'm sure she will watch over you until you prove yourself.  Do everything I've taught you, my child, and you will be okay.  I promise you."  

I just cried and her mother wiped her tears, "None of that now Caitlin.  Remember everything I'm telling you and all that I have taught you.  I have to go now to check on the family."  Her mother squeezed her hand and pulled out her gun and stealthily went inside.  She waited what seemed like forever and suddenly heard gun shots going back and forth.  She grabbed the gun from the glove compartment and pointed it at the door waiting for someone to come out.  She knew deep in her soul her mother was dead.  A man who was deeply wounded in the chest ran out and Caitlin fired the gun straight at his head and he went down.  She looked up and grinned, "That was for you Mom."

She got in her car quickly and got out of there quickly heading to Las Vegas as her mother instructed her to.  School was over, now she had to grow up quickly.  She knew once she fired that gun, her life was everything her mom had been teaching her and now she had to prove it.
