Backstory: Quite some time ago I used to create profile pictures for this game using a combination of Jasc Paintshop Pro (animation shop for gifs), and Photoshop. Back in those days it was pretty easy to download a patched/cracked version and not have to get the wallet out. Nowadays however I am a MacBook user (boooo) and though I'm not adverse to paying for software, I really don't want to sign up to a hefty subscription like what Adobe offer, just so I can bust out a profile pic or two every now and then... So what I'd like to know is if any of you can point me in the right direction to getting a decent editing suite onto my MacBook so I can get back to making pictures. Must have layering, and text adding capabilities, etc and either be free or have a non-ridiculous one-off cost. Any help would be much appreciated! |

GIMP is almost as good as Photoshop, free and I use it for my suit making along with other online sites to assist. |

Photopea and Pixlr are great alternatives to Photoshop but they're web-based not software. I recommend Photopea over Pixlr for animating! |

I side aswell with GIMP. It might be not as good as Photoshop (though I never used Photoshop), but it's free and it should have most of its features. I think the biggest difference when using these programs is... being able to use them. Having the knowledge and skill. If you have the skill, I'm sure you can do great with GIMP. |

I have a subscription with Adobe so I'm pretty set, but Jurian mentioning Photope and Pixlr is absolutely correct for both animating and general picture editing software. Pixlr is simpler and more concise while Photopea is basically, literally, off-brand photoshop. Highly recommend them both for anyone working on photos who doesn't want to pay the Adobe price subscription. |

Yeah I have to say in a pinch that GIMP has always been a great go-to option. Tons of features and it's free. Although Photopea is a great one for a web-based option. |

| I downloaded the app Adobe Express, which is made for making little posters and things. But you can actually use it to make half decent pics of you play around a little bit. It’s a pretty good tool for knocking out half decent pics if you don’t know what you’re doing with more complicated software. | |

Well, Tutte, that's great but Photoshop and it's iterations are produced by Adobe, which is NOT part of the Microsoft corporation. It is in fact, owned by Adobe Inc. an American computer software company. Unfortunately for Apple users, Jobs never bought into running Adobe software, just as he never bought into to making Flash available on MAC's. Rumour has it, the very first tweet when he died, read the following: "Can we have flash now?"

And their developers Read whats written. They had many developers doing programs to THERe their platforms so the truth stay in that lines to even if you always try to read between the lines. And never ever were those programs finished to 100% |
