After a very successful sign up period, fs was excited to begin working on the match-ups.  Lots of unproven talent out there, so it would be difficult to come up with the best matches.  He locked himself in his office for hours, only unlocking it to make a coffee run occasionally.  After about a day he came out with a new stack of papers to distribute.

He set out on the same path he had made a few days prior.  He pulled down the signup sheets and replaced them with the round 1 match-ups.  He then stepped forward to the box that was still on the street.

Alright folks, well we had a fantastic turn out for sign ups.  It's definitely nice to see you guys are interested, but maybe a bit worrying how many of you are wanting to fight ha.  I have decided that going forward we'll work on some sort of ranking system, but for this round match-ups were filled around your standing in the streets.  So, without further ado, here's the first round of match-ups:

Keep in mind this is a bracket format, with a single elimination.  If you lose you're out.  Best of luck to all the fighters.  We'll see you in the arena tomorrow!

"Unlucky Cheetara I hope you have your affairs in order. I am going to assault you worse Tutte assaults the English language. Signing up to face my might, will be a worse decision than Iluminatiated's war on Basketball Detroit or paying a distant relative of the Kuku line $8M to stop killing his family members"

JohnKukhamIV nods his head.

"Let it be known as soon as I beat all these goobers the prize money will be spent on funding a sex orgy utopia of a city as requested by Conceptualist (GRHS)"

Polio sees he's been put up against the mighty SilentAssassin

Shall we have a little wager my friend, winner takes all.

Polio checks his little wallet

I propose $1 million to be paid by the loser, to the winner?

Ian comes to check the match-ups and finds that his opponent for the first round is The Falling Dutchman. 

"Who's that?" He wonders as he walks down the street before disappearing into a café. 

Getting word the first round of matches were set, Ksenia waltzed over to look at the lineup. Using her finger to scroll down the list, stopping right on second line. Reading the name in front of hers, she took in a rather deep breath before muttering her competitors name under her breath. "Isabella" She took in another deep breath, this time smirking after the exhale.

It was surely going to be a task going up against someone of her stature but Ksenia always liked a challenge. Though was it really going to be a challenge? Probably not... and it was something the world was about to find this out. The thought of it made her chuckle, poor Isabella didn't know what she was getting into. She didn't want to completely take this fight for granted but her confidence level was rather high.

Pulling her finger off the paper, Ksenia turned about. She needed to hit the gym up one more time, tweak a few things, just to really make sure she was ready. Game planning it all in her head, Ksenia headed off the get in that last bit of training.

Paul swaggers forward smiling.

“Well, Well, Well SassyPeach. Sniffler is a little busy training and is a little too polite to well let’s say bring a little sass to the occasion. So, I’m here to take his place. You see SassyPeach since the announcement of the bout, Sniffler and I have been inundated with messages of support. To those people we say we hear you, we hear your hopes and prayers. We will do our best against the odds. Sniffler is an anteater of the people”.

Paul waved to SnifflersMom. A rather alluring anteater dressed in a red dress and for some reason wearing a bleached blonde wig. Who knew what was going through this anteater’s head as she winked at Paul. She had rather striking eyelashes.  Paul shook himself back to reality.

“SassyPeach, king of New York, the great redeemer. Don’t get me wrong, I respect you, hell I might even like you. But the messages got to make you wonder if you are the top dog in the street standings in this fight. Best of luck Sassy, it’s going to be one hell of a fight. One final warning, you are going to need a little more than sass when you step into the ring with Sniffer the Aristocratic Anteater and Pride of Philadelphia”.

Wellerman was eager to see who he was fighting against in the opening round of the competition. He had spent 2 and half hours of the last 24 vigorously training and felt confident in his ability to win. As he slowly looked over the sign-up sheets, the fact that he couldn’t read a single word of it never betrayed him. He tapped on a random name in the list as if he had discovered something and quickly scanned the area to see if anyone was looking at him. Nobody suspects a thing.  

Just then he heard someone asking about his moniker, The Falling Dutchman. Wellerman wasn’t Dutch and he didn’t even have a proclivity for falling down. But it sure did sound cool over an intercom and nobody else ever cared to look into it. 

It sounded like IANYU was going to be his first opponent of the competition. Wellerman scoffed. A failed professional kayaker, a failed artist and soon to be a failed boxer no doubt. Oh, well. Sometimes people only learn through lessons. Wellerman hated having to be the one to shatter IANYU’s perfect dream, but only one of them would be walking out of that ring a winner.

Isa received word early in the morning who she would be going up against in the Golden Gloves match. It did not really matter much who her opponent was because Isa knew she was more than fit enough to take on anyone. The only problem she had was she had never boxed a day in her life. Quite naturally a sense of intimidation entered her mind when she signed up. The match was set, and this would not stop her from entering the arena with Ksenia. 

She knew nothing about her opponent and there was really nothing she needed to know. Stature was of no concern. Afterall this was pretty much down to the wire of two woman entering the ring and in order for there to be a winner there had to be a loser. Isa was not one for talking smack. She preferred action over words. 

She hopped on her bike and entered the gym. She just needed the punching bag for about an hour. Upon her arrival she found SassyPeach drenched in sweat as he was jumping rope. 

While hitting the bag with all Isa had in her she started practicing the moves of the famous undefeated Rocky Marciano. This is the boxer her papa favored. She looked up and whispered, "Papa I am going to make you proud."
