This is my story, of how and why i am here today living this life. It all started when i was a young girl, living in The Bronx, I had a drunk Father, careless Mother, and an older brother who didn't know better, Hell he didnt know a dam thing if it slapped him in the face. I was the punch bag of the family. My Father would come home from work via the Tavern, drunk. If he had a bad day (Which was most of the time) he would take it out on me, the weakest of us all. My brother would fight back and sometimes won, either that or.. dad was just too drunk to keep going and mother was too busy living the 'High Life' to care about him or us. When it came to homework after school, I wouldn't get any help as they did not have a brain cell left between them. My only safe and free time was the odd occasion when i was allowed to play with the other kids, now and again under the metro tracks we would find a dead body and poke it with sticks. Once we found a guy that had been shot in the head between the eyes, that freaked us out. One day Mom dragged me into town to do some shopping. She went into a store and left me to sit and wait outside. The bus station was across the road, i could see one coach was going to LA and another to Chicago. Contemplating an idea that just hit me, "I've had enough here" I thought. I could just catch a bus to anywhere and start a new life! but i'm just a kid, how will i survive? But the urge to go was to strong, so I ran for it, found a bus and hid in the luggage compartment. Sometime later, felt like hours, someone opened the door and found me "I'm done for" i thought, scared about was was going to happen to me, What would my parents do to me when i'm returned home? The Bus Driver shouted. "Hey! Get out of there kid! What you think your doing? HEY! GET BACK HERE" I ran for it, for as long as my legs could, I just ran and ran till he gave up chasing me. I didn't know where i was, I just knew i was hungry and scared and there was a food stall right next to a big park. They were so busy that i was not spotted taking some food and hiding in the park.
Fast forward 20 years later, its the 50's, and turns out I hadn't gone far, Central New York, the place that Sinatra so passionately sang about, The Home of Broadway Theatre. That food stall against a park? Was Central Park. I wasn't far from home but far enough, no one knew me, my parents clearly did not bother to try and find me, for that i'm pleased, I had started a new life. Ive gotten by thanks to a few local kids, who, like me, had no home, Street Kids, they showed me the way, how to survive. Today I have my own 'Family' shall we say. AlexaBliss had been the one who stuck by me all this time, slowly she took me meet Lizzie and the rest of the crew Matt Medic Saturday to name a few. But now and again I do wonder. What would have happened if i stayed? Would I have found happiness? Had that 'dream life' of being married with my own kids and a white picket fence? Would I still be alive? Is it wrong that i want to know would could have been? If i had taken a different bus? It was one of them moments that could have been made in to a movie you know?, a Sliding Doors moment shall we say. It's a Man's World but we will survive and thrive. I live in an alright apartment, I have money and a Family, I should be happy yeah? I suppose you could say, This is the life |
