I can't believe what just happened.

I was walking down the street minding my own business when I heard someone call out to me. I turned to see a fat homeless man sitting on the sidewalk, his hand outstretched. "Hey, can you spare a dollar?" he asked, his voice hoarse and desperate.

Normally, I might have given him some change. But for some reason, I was feeling particularly mean-spirited today. Instead of reaching into my pocket, I decided to play a little prank. I reached in and pulled out my middle finger, holding it up to him with a grin. "Here's your dollar" I said, laughing as I walked away.

I could hear him cursing and shouting after me, but I didn't care. It felt good to be a little bit of a jerk for once. But as I continued down the street, I couldn't shake the feeling that maybe I'd gone too far. That man was homeless and struggling, and I'd just mocked him for asking for help. I realized then that my mean-spirited joke wasn't funny at all. It was just cruel. I felt ashamed of myself for what I'd done, and I vowed to do better in the future. I might not be able to solve homelessness, but I could at least try to be kinder to those who were struggling.
