It was night. The rain was pouring down with what felt like rage. Thunder and lightning lit up the sky and you could see huge terrifying black clouds. Azizella stumbled hopelessly through the streets, mourning, crying and thinking about her dead mother. Soaking wet under the cold rain, she looked at people that passed by in a hurry, protected by raincoats and umbrellas, busy with their own stuff. Some of the people she recognized, she used to see them when she was a child and her mother brought them over for parties and reunions. She was just a happy, giggly child. She never experienced loss, betrayal or loneliness.

She kicked a pebble and crossed the street, thinking that those people had their own lives. Their own worries, their own agendas, their own family to protect. But its not like she wanted to be the center of the universe or make everything about her. She wanted to feel protected and loved again. Without her mother now, everything felt so hopeless, so sour, so... alone.

She stopped by a bridge and looked down. Another lightning struck the sky and she could see for a moment the murky and violent waters below. The current was fast and the river was full, deep. She climbed up on the edge of the bridge. She cried over everything good she knew in the world. She would miss her mother, she would miss her friends, she would miss that giggly, happy, loved child that one day she was. They ripped that little girl from inside her chest. There was only bitterness left.

And as another lightning cleared the sky, she jumped and for a second that felt light eternity, she was flying, remembering when once she felt stood up to, protected and happy. And then the cold hit and the blackness of the depths swallowed her entire body
