To broccol-be or not to broccol-be? Started by: worm on May 15, '23 11:53

It must have been the middle of the night when the worm first awoke from the soiled slumber, the dirt pushing up from all around and completely uprooting several trees and bushes-- the loud sound of a yawn emanating through the skies for a few miles until it finally reached the bedroom of one Mister Jub The Nub. "Jub, I call upon you. Do my bidding, for the soil." it was the call that every wormlet would receive every once in a while during their tutelage under the worm himself. Those who never heard the sounds in their mind were considered the unlucky ones.

While his voice carried to Jub, the wind swept more words from him the opposite way to a small patch of dirt some two miles away from the headquarter where @KennyRusso spent his nights ever since he was no longer allowed inside the HQ walls to sleep. There was an unfortunate accident that none of them speak about to this day, but he knows what he did. "Kenny, oh Kenny, ooohhh. I'm the ghost of Christmas Past, ooohooooo. Haha, just joking. It's me, worm. Hey, I need you to pick up my grocery list later. Make sure you get the special ingredient, we'll need it for later..."

Now that everything was starting to come together, the worm fully woke up and made his way down toward what would become a makeshift town square for the day. Everyone would become witness to what could only be described as the event of the century, wherein the young Jub would finally take a bite of the wondrous green morsel that was simply called:

"Broccoli! Once Kenny gets here with it, we'll need someone to hold it firmly for all to see. There will surely be thousands in attendance to come to watch this feat of willpower that most in the mafia wouldn't be able to muster."

All that was left was to find someone to hold the broccoli for the big event, but who? Who had hands and would be willing? While he began to ponder this question, one of his members @Nord walked by and gave him a great idea. Why not him? This idea was approved by worm the second he had thought of it and now it was all set into motion.

"Nord, will you be the holy broccoli bearer? There is no honor higher."

Nord was on his way to get a morning coffee from his favourite local place when he heard worm's voice calling him. He stopped for a moment and looked around, but couldn't see worm anywhere. Then he remembered that sometimes he can just hear worm's voice in his head. He learned to accept this and not question the nature of communication within this crew.

"Holy broccoli? Yes, chef. I mean boss. Whatever you need," he muttered to himself, knowing that worm would still hear it somehow. "Let me just have my cup of joe and I'll be back with you."

Nord hurried towards the coffee place and just as he was about to enter the cafe, just as he was reaching for his wallet and thinking of the beloved smell of java, he bumped into KennyRusso. Kenny looked agitated and gave him a long speech, which Nord didn't really listen to, as all he could think about was his growing coffee deprivation. Only single words were reaching his brain: "chain of command", "delegation", "responsibilities", "commitment", "broccoli"...

"So will you do it, Nord?", Kenny was apparently expecting an answer, although Nord had no idea what it was that he was being asked to do.

"Yes, sure, Kenny. Can we just have a coffee first, please?", Nord was eyeing the coffee machine inside the cafe.

Kenny followed up with another lengthy spurt of words which made little sense. "Just get that broccoli, Nord, will ya?", he finished and walked away.

A few minutes later, as coffee was slowly spreading through his system, Nord finally understood the task he was given. And suddenly the gravity of the situation dawned on him. It was past the broccoli season. There was no way he could find broccoli anywhere at this time of the year.

"Seems like I will need a cauliflower and a bucket of green paint," he sighed as he finished his coffee.

After Kenny gave Nord the assignment to procure broccoli, he made his way out of the coffee shop and went to a construction store to buy building materials and hire some hands to help him build a sturdy stage to support JubTheNub gigantic mass. The bill for all the materials was 500$. Kenny opened his wallet and there was only 50, so he pulled his gun and shot the ceiling and threatened to next shoot the store clerk. With the power of persuasion and charisma, he managed to get a 450 discount. Kenny was a mastermind in haggling skills.

Kenny directed the hired hands towards where worm wanted to hold the event. With the telepathic link formed between worm and Kenny, he muttered the following words: "I am a fucking genius when it comes to haggling. Nord will meet you later with the request item, and I will meet you soon."

But sadly Kenny wasn't too good at the telepathic skills, worm received this message but it was broken. He actually heard: "I am fucking Nord, will meet you later" but Kenny didn't knew that.

He made his way towards worm and delivered fliers announcing the event to everyone he passed by. Arriving at the location Kenny received weird looks from worm but decided to ignore him and build the stage with the hired hands.

Jub had heard the magic words, the words he had hoped never to hear ever again after the last incident. That incident had involved a tuba, a trampoline, 3 sticks of butter, shaving foam and a hedgehog but that would be a story for another time. Probably.

Our brave man-blob showed up at the location that worm had relayed to him by smoke signal. Jub looked visibly nervous, his underchins jiggling from the trembling. Kenny was there too, giving him a beaming smile right after looking at some ducktaped-together platform made from wooden planks, another bad sign. Wretch wasn't here, that's three strikes.

"Say, worm, why did you have me come here today? Are we holding another demotion poll?"

Jeremy was walking back down the street after a night of drugs and drinking when he suddenly looked up and saw a plane with a banner with a picture of worm and a sentence that said:

The day has come when Jub will finally enjoy a good piece of broccoli, come all and see.

Jeremy couldn't believe what his eyes were seeing and so he decided to stay off cocaine for a few days.
