So I was walking down the street the other day when I saw a new face. Somebody new to this world of ours? I thought so I saw he hadn't made contact with anybody. So I welcomed him. "Hello and Welcome!" I said. He replied "Please die immediately with much pain and suffering." Here I am trying to help somebody that may not be familiar with our life of crime, and he says this to me, a made man in La Cosa Nostra. I was just wondering where the respect is nowadays? I always thought when you were trying to make a name for yourself in This Thing of Ours, you should be respectful to the people who have lead a successful life of crime. Just was wondering what you folks think about this. Have you been disrespected by somebody trying to enter the LCN? Please share. |

| You could look at it another way, I suppose. This guy jumps off the boat, and within five minutes has some strange man run up to him with an outstretched hand. Wouldn't you be a little leary? I would jump back quickly and ask who's this fruitcake? Get away from me! | |

| Nobody in our life likes being approached by strangers. How was he to know who you were? Maybe he though you were a fed. Maybe you've fucked over a member of his family before. | |

I think we have all suffered from this kind of response somewhere down the line, unforunately it comes with the territory. You have to understand these people have just stepped off the boat and have no knowledge of our world, yes they may have chosen to get on the boat and try it out but I wouldn't expect 100% of them to be fully respectful. You mailed a minority of our new comers that fall into the non respectful category. I dont even let it bother me. |

Is it really? Do you have statistical data of 100 new people to show that that's what they usually do first, or are you just stating it as a fact? Alot of people do their communicating in the coffee shops, you know. Here's another one for you. The first thing they usually do is squat down, flap their elbows, and quack like a duck. See, I can do it too. Doesn't make it true, though. |

| Whether or not it is a good thing is a matter of opinion. Personally, I think it's obnoxious and annoying. Even if I was new, I wouldn't need someone jumping me five minutes off the boat. I wouldn't need someone jumping me at all, for that matter. However, I realize that it's the order of the day to coddle and hand hold, so continue on. Just don't pester me with it. | |

I think the major issue here is not what you want or appreciate Rufus. Halligan is a Made Man. His Boss felt enough confidence in him to give him his button. With that rank a certain amount of respect is demanded from the comunity. Recent iniatives surrounding the Made Man rank have been aimed at putting the honor back in the title. Whether you appreciate the efforts of the man or not, as a civilian you have no right in my eyes to blatantly disrespect the title of Made Man as you have. People have gotten killed for much, much, less. |

| Rufus, I can honestly say that I've welcomed/offered help to 20 or so new members, and every one of them thanked me for it. Do you see Mr_Rogers_Lovechild, I don't want to take credit for his success, as he is a terrific gangste, but I like to think I kind of helped him get there, as I helped him out at the beginning. | |

I completely agree with you, Lovechild. I'm sure I will meet with a bullet for my blatant disrespect, and I deserve it. My deserving it does not make what I said wrong, though. I thought I would come and look into the world my forefathers visited to see if anything was different. Your viewpoints on respect are refreshing, but the continuing habit of foresaking organized crime activity for charitable practices is disappointing. |

| Rufus, what Halligan is doing is fine. If he helps 19 civilians turn into little gangsters and mildly annoy one person that had relatives in the mafia world then that is surly a far better thing for this crime ridden world than if he didnt and these people found comfortable office jobs or tried to run friut stalls. | |

| Perhaps, which is why I said "continue one". However, we have already seen that Halligan likes to assert things as fact that are not necessarily so. I might ask, where are these 20 Gangsters he helped? I only see 30-some mobsters on the street at the moment, in the middle of the day. If he has brought in so much fresh blood, I would think there would be a bit more than half the former population running around. | |

| I dont think it matters whether he annoyed you or not. You shouldnt disrespect anyone in such a matter, nevermind a Made Man and for you to admit your family has been here is even greater disgust considering you should already know you should respect people. We dont want your sort of bloodline around here. | |
