Aspirations Started by: j0ngott1 on Apr 25, '08 04:21
In the light of the mid morning sun you stroll out into the streets for a gander at the days happenings. You walk past shops and people fighting. 14 Mafioso wait fixatedly outside a young offenders institute for the chance to collect the bounty on an erstwhile 'unavailable' failed criminal. Their eyes staring ravenously, not even daring to blink.

As you walk past this quite frankly, all things considered, ridiculous scene you hear a noise. Hoping for a bit of street theatre you turn the corner just in time to see a giant of a man walk out of a large dark building. Intrigued you join the steadily swelling crowd. The man starts to speak. You decide to listen for the lack of anything else to do.

In this thing of ours there are many things to aspire to. Leadership is quite obviously the most popular one. Since the introduction of the Captains to the six cities maybe a few more have set their sights on simply trying to achieve this position. Some train hard to acquire hitters skills to be useful to the family in case of war, to be feared/respected, or in an attempt to, down the line, try and take power yourself. Others may have more modest ambitions. To be well respected in the community maybe. To be known as a trusted mafioso, and one who puts family first (a highly sought after attribute by the way).

But to what end do we do this?

My family line first made it's name in the old country for being a hitter. They had tried many other positions before hand. One was a master Jail Breaker (subsequently died from wackback two days after it was brought in) one was a subcrews RHM (once mistaken by -mrevilman to be the familys RHM. Quite an interesting few days for me there.) and one had the greatest family position of all, The Hitlist Watcher (if your idea of fun is watching the hitlist for hours on end then THIS is the position for you!).

However none of these previous positions (other than that strange time with mem) ever brought us what we craved. Recognition from our peers, and a lasting legacy.

We have always wanted to be remembered in the way that many people remember past greats. Premeirs family lines past achievements as murderous hitmen, have given him an almost legendary position, along with BrianArao, in the minds of many old and young bloodlines alike. When people remember long dead crew leaders their familys have served under the same names often get mentioned (SteelDawn, Cold_Steel, MorbidAngel, IzzyCreamcheese, StanTheAmericanEagle, Ellis, UncleNicky, Oberon, Anita and lets not forget Cradle [the greatest of all dead crew leaders! What? Don't remember him? Worth a try I suppose. Had a penchant for PrettyGirls as I remember.])

My family line has always wanted to add their name to those ranks. This is mostly why, after five years in this under-world, my bloodline still remains.

We have tried different ways to achieve this Holy Grail of Achievement, as it were. They were members of many hit squads (successful and unsuccessful) and died in battle on many occasions. They were avid street speakers. They were fortunate to have successful friends who, when the opportunity arose, gave them the chance to start their own family (these successful friends then proceeded to piss about and anger the most powerful family head at the time who then shot my ancestor in a fit of pique, to get back at him. The last words my Great x100 Grandfather heard was; You kill my friend, I kill yours. Crushing.).

In the future I dare say few will remember them for their actions. They aspired high, but achieved relatively very little. Which is a shame because this is what they wanted.

Now I have brought this to the streets to ask you what it is that you believe most people aspire to.

Is it to be a great crewleader? Feared yet respected?

Is it to have a long list of 'confirmed' kills under your belt?

Is it to achieve something no one else has before you?

Or is it simply to be remembered?

And what infact, do you aspire to? (Hopefully any budding rogues in our ranks will spill their guts here, falling delightfully into my trap.)

I look forward in interest to your thoughts and responses.

The man looks to the crowd for blessed interaction.

.......
As always people, spot any mistakes, write them down... ...pop them in up your bottom.

j0ngott1, I'd like to answer this question in a kind of speed dating fashion so please bear with me.

If you were an animal, what would I be?

Hmm, good question.

Thinks about going down the Rabbit route for high sex drive ...

Well, if I were to be an animal, I'd be a Labrador.

Those who know me (the lucky few), will know that I'm not an ambitious man, I have no desire to lead, nor do I desire fame. I am more than content helping out my family in any way I can (as long as it doesn't involve feet). My family have been extremely fortunate to be given exposure to many varied positions in the family, though the high prize of hitlist watching eludes me still. I have worked on intelligence (sweet irony), ran a sub-crew, joined a hit squad (though not for years), provided my leader with protection (pro-whacks) and currently have the honor of meeting every Mademan in our world as I collect their references. I'm happy to be led and not lead, much like a Labrador, also, I'm dumb but good looking, again, like the Labrador.

I only really desire two things.

The first is purpose, I am happy knowing I have a role in this world, even if that role is not particularly glamorous and will not enter me into the history books.

And secondly, to be a cheesy git, I like getting to know people and just chatting shit. It's very rare that I will not converse with people who speak to me, I try to come up with ingenious ways to get people to message me, currently opting for a question worth $2 hears the gasps of delight, yes, $2!!

So, to summarize, I want to kill people.

If anyone is thinking of telling me Labradors aren't dumb, please treat the statement in much the same way you would when correcting j0ngott1's grammar.

Hm, I believe that almost everyone has a secret fantazy of becoming a crew-leader, yet there are far from everyone who would be able to make it as one. But I do believe that if you've come so far to make it as a CL, you already have a lot of experience and hard work in your luggage.

But I think that most of the people wanting to be CLs, they just want the power. And when they get power, they just want more. And then more and then.. well, you all know my point. (Now I'm NOT talking about a certain person, so don't get me wrong here.) The good CL's is the one who works for the family, helps their crewmembers and acting like he/she doesn't give a shit about the power. Or something like it. I hope you all get my point.

Concerning the kills, you kill for two reasons, you wanna rank, and you wanna help out your family in case of a war.

And no, I have no desire myself to become a CrewLeader.

I mean, then you have to think and use your brain, and all I can use my brain with is to play Black jack.

I think that, ultimately, every bloodline, at some point, aspires to be a boss. Many of those bloodlines eventually get a shot at it but very few make it into legendary status.

There are those of us now who still walk the streets, sit in the coffee shops occasionally and earn because it's just what we do. What else would we do if we chose to change our habits? Sure, my bloodline still loves to clean, whenever it's required, but it's no longer the 'be all and end all'. Having ten people compete for the same contract killed most of the enjoyment in that particular hobby.

Aspire to be a boss? No sirree. Tales passed down from ancestors and watching the shit that bosses have to put up with stomps on any subsequent dreams in that area.

Oh, and boss, my bloodline worked for a SamTheAmericanEagle once upon a time but I've never met this Stan guy! Was he the brother?!
Report Post Tip
Oh nice Denouement! Way to point out a flaw in my gem of a speech.

Writes down Denouements name for some boring job later.

Was Stan the name of the Eagle in The Muppet's? Or was there someone called StanTheAmericanBeagle? Either way you're peeling potatoes for a few days for that man.

Make him watch the hitlist!! I will hire 4 random hits and take them off between now and next week, if he misses any of them we get to shoot him in the foot!!
Report Post Tip
That's actually a delightful little punishment man. I may have to take that up. I could even pit three people against each other, with the one who collects the least being ultimately vanquished.

You're onto something there man. Death by hitlist.

Hey PrettyGirl, remember that time you got shot before seeing the wackback statement, yeah?

Coughing politely, DJ answers the original question, choosing each word with careful deliberation.

Evidently, I am one of the minority that do aspire to be a leader in this community. I've read about the politics, all the shit the CL takes, the crew member problems and the responsibility in my ancestor's diaries as they filled in the slanty position at Crew Leader's sides. Reading these experiences only makes me want it more, and I look forward to the day when I can lead my own family and run my own city.

I aspire to be a combination of what you state as possible aspirations. A great leader, of course. Feared but respected, definitely. A long list of confirmed kills under my belt, sure. Achieving what nobody else has before me, difficult but I aim for the highest.

Consider this a darts match j0ngott1. You aim above what you want to hit to allow for the drop. So if you aim for the top, you'll come close to what you want if you have the talent. Patience is one of the main aspects that leads to achievement of aspirations. If you're patient enough, opportunities will present themselves - you just have to be prepared to take the opportunity when it comes around.

That's my view anyway. But like I say, I'm in the apparent minority.

_Rhuarc_, hush about hitlists or I'll tell them about your episode with the whisky, dancing midgets, blancmange and broom handle. Man, those pictures still make me sick.

Boss, I'll go for the peeling potatoes.

Dons the rubber gloves and picks up his knife

Aspiring mafiaosos and mafiosas, my past has had many postions. My bloodline has worked with some of the hardest, badest, most legondary leader. Caring out all sorts of different jobs and arrends. A respectful member of the family always does what is asked of him under any circumstances. There is always an oppritunity waiting to arrise out there somewhere.

As for me, a young earner in a syndicated crime family in New York city. I will raise money, use my strong hand on some of the local businesses and do what is asked of me.

I aspire to one day to be a Made Man, this is when I can set my eyes on being a strong part of my family. I expect that nothing will be handed to me on a silver platter, but that I will work into the ground to prove that I am responsible. The oppritunity to be a real part of something special is well worth the fight, well worth proving through respect that you are someone that deserves a seat at the table with the boss.

Amber walks into the crowd, late as usual

I meant to give my views on this earlier, but the mailman never seems to leave me alone.

I think most people aspire to someday be a leader, although it's not for everyone. Or to be remembered, although some seem to prefer to be infamous over famous.

My family line has long desired to run their own family. They got their chance during the time the world kept coming to an end, every two weeks. And they loved it.

Then the world settled down, and again, my family had a chance to run a family. They hated it. No more "We're all going to die in two weeks, so let's have fun." attitude. This was for the long haul. More responsibility.

My family vowed never to try that again. My family is not cut out to be a leader, although they did learn from the experience. I enjoy the rule of worker bee. It's more my speed.

Then one day I was offered the position of RHW for Sammy, and get in from the beginning. I was flattered, but not sure if I could do it.

The job is often stressful, the mail never stops, I went from Rich to Poor in 12 easy steps, but I love every minute of it. I don't think I could be RHW for too many people, but this fits like a glove. I found my niche in life, and I'm quite happy doing what I'm doing.

Rize puts out his cigar

Then walking to where it seems he'd have the most attention
He waits for his opportunity, and begins to speak

This is a very interesting subject because it's not often that you judge yourself. Especially by what your aspirations are, but totally ignoring the fact that it's been said many times over, I'm going to be honest. I aspire to be the head of a family.

Now I understand that its not going to be a one step process, you see, that's just the light at the end of the tunnel. First I want to be a respected member of the family, Letting my earnings and willingness to put the family for all speak for it self.

Then of course me being the hard working, outspoken, sexy beast that I am I will get Made, Sub crewleader, Rhm, etc.

Now lets not forget the money, does anyone aspire to be Richer than God? I'm talking filthy rich and for no reason, I know someone out there is a greedy bastard.

I think in this world, everyone wants to be something. No one has ever said you know what im avg all around, i like that. Everyone strives to be the best at something. You either succcede at it or you let it engulf you and you fail. I think the main thing in this world is to aspire to be yourself and build upon that. It takes a lot to judge yourself, and when you do you can do great things.

Like Premeir said everyone wants to be something.

Looks at all the people wanting his autographs.. softly pushing them away so he can make a speech

It makes it tough on a leader because the above is true. Everyone wants something and there is only so much we can offer without making positions pointless. Most dream to be a leader..a man in power..but do no realize the work that goes into it but they work their ass off trying.

Others such as Premeir are known to murder. Spill blood - and remove souls from our world. We need these people and would not make it without them. Some want to be subcrew leaders, run small business's and make cash and lead a simple life.

Power is hard work - Weakness is not. Work hard in our world and you can do what you want - trust me. Make the right choices, talk the right game and run your business with respect to our great way of life and YOU sir could be the next mafioso in power.

or not.

Everyone plays their rule. Money makers make the leader stronger, killers make things exciting, Leaders of coruse lead, and cry babys give the wackers something to do :)
Report Post Tip
To be remembered you've got to excel at something. You've got to be noticed.

In my experience, the easiest way to get noticed is to kill. Any pleb with a gun can do it. My forefathers told me of tactics he used before, they were all so simple yet effective. Back in the day there was no way to tell if someone had already fired their gun before, so simply fake an attempt on your or a friend's life and you had justification for you kill. If you got a bit bored of that you could copy their handwriting in to a few mobmails. Of course, it always helped to have a leader willing to turn a blind eye and a few friends in high places. This was all just target practice of course. Even killers are only remembered for the big ones.

Some get remembered for trying to bring about good. I'll always remember Turi Giuliano. He was a peaceful man, looking to remove the bloodthirsty days and take things back to the olden days where men had honour, disputes were discussed before guns were drawn and being made really meant something.

Others have a sort of cult following. CrossDeLena and his Czylharz (spelling? I'm sure one of his minions will correct me soon enough) family. He didn't last very long or outwardly do very much compared to others, but he instilled a true sense of family that all his members will never forget.
