On Saturday of last week our neighbors had a devastating house fire. We share a common wall, so a ton of water and smoke came through. Thankfully no one was hurt, but we lost our apartment overnight. The landlady told us the damage to our kitchen, floor and common wall was so bad we’d have to move immediately. we’re safe in a hotel for now and we think we have a new apartment lined up, but as teachers, summer is tight financially and we have the sudden cost of moving, deposits and so on. normally I am very much the do it all myself person, but in the 100°+ heat and with two disabled people in the house we are struggling. If you could, we have a go fund me set up for moving and resettling costs. If you can’t donate, please spread the word? I came here because MR was one of my first online families and I know you can at least keep us in your thoughts and prayers! Thank you so much!! |

Wow that is really bad. Do you not get any assistance with the hotel costs etc. because you've been forced to leave? |

Our insurance is only covering the hotel. Which I mean, is huge right now. But because the fire wasn’t our fault the insurance isn’t covering anything they don’t see as damaged or having to suddenly move. And the apartment wasn’t at fault, so they aren’t covering us either. Normally we’d pursue reimbursement from the neighbor’s insurance but *drumroll* they didn’t have any. We’d literally have to sue them and they have five kids. We’re not gonna sue. It’s sort of crappy all around. |

Oh, sorry to hear about this. Though you're nice for not suing them. It must be incredibly stressing for both your families having to move like that. |
