Making achievements better Started by: SerialStabber on Oct 17, '11 04:04

My idea is pretty basic and very simple to code. Instead of using javascript alerts use a javascript lightbox or even easier jQuery UI dialog. Also with that add buttons to share on facebook and tweet to twitter.

Pros:
More people will wonder what MR is.
Makes the site look nicer.
Doesn't block you from navigating if there are multiple achievements and don't want to close them all.

Cons:
None that I could think of.

Also this is aimed for M2

We've been toying with the idea of making achievements realtime - meaning as you complete it, it pops up and lets you know (rather than loading the achievements page and process it then). I honestly don't know what kind of effect this has on performance, but when we go to rewrite achievements for M2, we will definitely be playing around with making it look better and act better.

I personally would prefer it be an automatic thing, rather than a requirement to load the page.

Reason for that, is part of being demoted for BGs is negated by the fact that people tend to not open their achievement page until after they've been demoted, and thus then receive all their bonus XP to help them climb that ladder again.

Granted thats not a major issue, just a thought.

Personally I'd like to keep it as it is, were you have to open up them up. There are a few pro's in doing it this way, stacking them up until you reach a specific rank and attaining your xp and credits all at once, giving you the chance of gaining a few extra units and such. Also if you know you are going to be demoted it also works in the same way.

Thats part of the problem, imo.

If I may, I don't really see it as too much of a problem, simply because I have earned the right to do what I want with them and choose which way to use them to my advantage, because I have robed 1000 post offices or whatever it may be.

It works both ways if you choose to stack them then you will loose the initial gratification you would get from achieving the targets set. Just my opinion, I like to stack mine untill units get harder to achieve then open them.
