The young woman in the blue woman walked holding the heavy suitcase containing the cosmetics she had been selling for just over two months. It was the solution, no doubt, after that terrible eviction notice. She was young, beautiful, and her well-groomed appearance helped her get this job. She rarely lost her good mood. Despite her young age, she knew that life is not always easy. She was used to this. But her husband did something truly unspeakable to her! He tricked her. He made her believe he had a lot of money, pretending to be a man who owned a lot of land. In fact, that place had been rented by the Company where his father-in-law worked. For an employee party. But she had believed him to be the great "feudal lord". After all, that's what he was told.
"As far as your eyes can see... it's all mine!" - Proudly exclaimed the future husband. How naive she had been! The courtship and engagement did not last more than three months. She resigned and got married But the big “surprise” was reserved for after the honeymoon. He didn't even have a job! And now there was no way out. They turned as they could. It was a succession of discomforts that lasted seven months. And then came the eviction action after several unpaid rents. She went back to her parents' house. The husband had to do the same. They were separated for several months. But the situation wasn't good, it really wasn't. She had hurriedly married in order to be free of her father. Now she was there again...and without a decent job! The only alternative that came up was selling those cosmetics door-to-door across Brooklyn. It didn't give much. But it was enough to keep her head high in front of her austere father. That afternoon she was walking slowly, thinking about the recent hardships that insisted on growing when the big and beautiful car pulled up a few meters ahead. The window rolled down and a man smiled as he looked at the briefcase. "That must be a bit heavy for you, no?" She returned the smile despite the frustration she carried in her soul. "But I can handle it!" "Want a ride home?" You must be going home, I suppose." She looked into his face. He was friendly, smiling. Why, big deal! And she accepted. After that, now and then he would meet her on the street. Offered a ride, sometimes a coffee. It was funny how this interesting young man knew how to be everything his husband was not. It had been six months since she'd been at her parents' house and he still hadn't found another job. But this man was different, he always said the right words, he always listened, he always understood. He was charming and sensitive. And he seemed to be doing pretty well. Very well indeed, judging by the impeccably cut suits, the stylish car, and the polite, cultured conversation. And when he took her out for coffee he was always very polite. And very seductive. He seemed to guess what she wanted. Every woman dreams. How nice it would be if maybe she could forget about that ill-fated marriage and... One day he invited her to see where he lived. She had nothing to lose with that. She went. But the experience was not good. They didn't even actually get to his house. She was curious to know what it was like to be one of those places where couples go just to...be together! She accepted the proposal and Came in. But he has changed so much! Suddenly, during the act, he no longer looked like the same person. His face was strange, different, as if transfigured. And he uttered some strange words. Was he talking to her in another language?! It didn't force her into anything, but it was pretty violent. In her heart was certainty. She didn't want to see him anymore. Only that man never looked for her again either. In the same strange way that it appeared, so was its disappearance. After the guilt subsided a little, she confessed to your mother what had happened. She had seen him a few times and they had both made the decision that felt right. Confess to the priest and say a novena. After that the girl sighed with relief and considered herself forgiven. But she had not been able to count on the unforeseen. In a few weeks she found out she was pregnant.
Shortly after the incident, luck seems to be beckoning her again. The husband he got a job and she quickly returned to live with him. Even so, when the “premature” child was born he was not entirely convinced that the boy was in fact his son. The young woman couldn't leave the hospital right away because the baby was under observation for a few days after a difficult birth and a series of risks. She was concerned about the child's well-being. But then that woman walked into her room. She was dressed in a white apron and presented herself as a volunteer at the Catholic Maternity Chaplaincy. “Don't worry about your son. He's going to be just fine!” - Said the Chaplain trying to console her. "Shall we pray for your boy? You have to consecrate it to a Saint and ask him directly.” "I'm not devoted to any saint!" “My, but that can be remedied. It is very important to consecrate children as soon as they are born. And the Saints who appear in the Bible are more powerful than those who don't.” The Chaplain took a Bible and opened it in a certain place. He stretched out the page, pointing with his finger at a name. “Leviathan!” "Are we going to consecrate your son to Saint Leviathan? And then he'll be great, you'll see” And so they did. She ended up keeping that name in her head. She never even suspected that “Saint Leviathan” was not and had never been a Saint. And even less could he assume that the whole romance with that stranger had been premeditated. |
