As only a handful of people know, my dad is TheAccountant. He got me started in this game and it's something we do together. I, personally, am impressed by this community for welcoming him in so warmly despite his disability. If you have interacted with TheAccountant, or Bwana, or Hatari, or Vincent_V, you know that he's one of the more unique members of our MR Family. He's legally blind. This is a diagnosis that we as a family have been adjusting to for the last 3-4 years. It takes a lot of adjustments, but we all make the most of it. I am most amazed at the strength my dad has shown in the face of such difficulties. As such, my brother and I have wanted to give back to him. He's always been there for us. Something he's always wanted to do was travel and see various places throughout the world. With his sight leaving, the urgency of those dreams has increased. My brother and I created a GoFundMe and want to get it out there to everyone we can. With Squishy's permission, I am posting the link to the fundraiser here. I have personally met this family and they have welcomed me into their home. I can easily say that they would give anyone the shirt off their back. While it's not much, I hope my small contribution can help forge a good memory. As a side note, a hooker with psoriasis makes for a great tactile memory - I strongly recommend the red light district in Holland. |
