The wind blew fiercely as it always does in Chicago. The Windy City is an apt name most days and especially on this day of days... the brutal cold winds scoured BigEasys back, his thoughts were only a distraction, nothing pleasant nor fond... as he slipped in and out of conscious thought he dreamed of a distant place were a life could be made anew. This city had nothing left for him, nothing more than bad memories and a sour taste in his mouth when he thinks about it. He felt at peace throughout his entire body when his thoughts were of warmth, thoughts of life and of the future. The sour taste faded while his thoughts, full of hope, spread beyond his mind enveloping his entire body in warmth. He smiled as he stood up, walking through the wind as if it wasn't even there. Nothing about this city would bother him anymore and moving past seemed something he had already done, not something he would have to deal with again. He walked around the corner and sat at the first bench he could find. The longer he sat the less familiar the city streets were. Nothing felt the same. Nothing felt like home. He knew this would be his last day in this city and he couldn't stand to wait another moment...with that thought he got up and began to run to the airport. He ran two and a half miles without stopping just to find that all flights were sold out, he'd have to take something private. He used all the money he inherited from his recently deceased father and booked that private flight home...Las Vegas. As he rode on the private flight his thoughts raced with ideas for his now bright future. |
