Blue Heaven Started by: Corky on Nov 06, '23 02:33

Life had finally calmed down for Corky.  There were no wars to fight, the cops had finally backed off, and she wasn't worried about Tyler Durden and his gang.  The Godmother walked to one of her favorite places in Detroit, surprised it took her as long as it did to finally make it back to her favorite haunt.  She stood with her hand on the door to the old Chopper Club, looking at her hand on the handle, she wondered if any familiar faces would be left.   She had no idea if it would be easier or harder to do what she wanted if there were any left, but she made her way inside.

Her warm brown eyes scanned over the establishment, very little had changed since the last time she was in the club.  The people who were hosts, all seemed new to her.  She sighed in relief, she'd hate for those she was fond of to think she'd only came back to steal their home from them.   When her eyes fell on the gruff old bartender, a genuine smile spread across her face as she made her way straight to bar.

"Hey there Old Man...." Corky said as she took a seat at an empty stool.  "Beer, whatever's on tap is fine."

Marcus blinked twice at the Godmother. "Well shit.  We heard there was a Corky that took over Detroit.  Never thought it'd be YOU, we had you figured for dead..."

"Nah, they didn't quite get me..." Corky was interrupted, and a loud crack silenced the bar as Lily spun Detroit's leader around and smacked her across the face.

"HOW FUCKING DARE YOU!"  Lily yelled at Corky.  "Just walk back in here like nothing ever happened. You waltz in after Ethan died, get people to care and then up and vanish.  Poor Jesse followed you here trying to make a name for himself... now he's gone too.  Daisy is left to try and run this by herself... and you're just walking back in here like nothing happened."

Corky held up a hand telling the men with her to stand down.  "Lily...." Corky's voice was somber.  She felt bad for her friend, and past lover. "I think we should talk, come on.  I won't ask you to work for free, I'll pay for your time.  The usual booth is open."

The hostess agreed to the Godmother's proposal, and Corky took her beer and the two sat and talked about everything that had happened. Corky was in shock that her protégé from New York and followed her footsteps, but immensely proud that he too rose the rank of Godfather in Los Angels.  When she found out the woman running the books for the club was struggling a little while, Corky asked to speak to Daisy.

"Listen Daisy.... nothing will change for you or the Hosts and Hostesses'  here.   The hotel part will stay the same,  you all keep living here, hourly and overnight rooms still there too.  The only things that will change, are the name and I'll pay for everyone to have a week or two off work while we refurbish some of the rooms and the bar.  You keep running and managing things here.  No worries on the bills, I'll make sure it all gets covered. What do you say?"  Corky suggested to the petite blonde.

Daisy squinted at Corky, she wasn't sure what to make of the Godmother. "Lily, you know this woman?  She good to her word?"

"I can tell you what tattoos she has and where they are on her body..." Lily smirked, a look which Corky returned with a wink. "I can tell you she's good to her word for giving you a good time..."

"...Lily... please." Daisy sighed.

"Look Dais.  She runs the damn city, and is offering to help keep the place afloat, solely because she has a fondness for the place... and some of us.  I wouldn't doubt her word."  Lily said frankly.  "So let us have our two paid weeks off, and just unwind and enjoy ourselves."

And with that, the Godmother of Detroit became a silent partner of the Club, renaming the establishment Blue Heaven. After two weeks, re-opened with a new ad being sent around to news papers.

Joker got word of a new joint that just opened up called Blue Heaven.  He was told they had good music, food, booze and entertainment. He agreed to go and put on his best outfit and went to the establishment.  He walked in and the women in their looked at him he looked a bit off as he took a seat at a table, his hair was green, suit jacket and pants purple.  He had a yellow shirt with a pink red flower in the lapel.  He had a roll of cash and was peeling a onion as he ordered food and drinks for himself.  He saw the owner walking around she moved with grace and spoke with elegance he nodded as he saw how everyone respected her.

His food arrived with his long island ice tea.  Joker smiled as he sipped it slowly and listen to the music.  He wasn't worried about security because the owner was someone you didn't want to create noise for.  The local cops knew that they only came when she called and to stay away until she did.  TBJ was at peace and relaxing while in the establishment.  The music was nice as the women walked around talking to the men and the men walking around with the women.  TBJ smiled and laughed not needing paid escorts.  He liked talking to anyone that wanted to talk and enjoy his company.

BigEasy was dodging his own guards tonight so he snuck in the back. He walked up the bar and placed ten thousand in one hundred dollar bills down. He waited for the barkeep to notice and when he did BigEasy smiled and waved him over.

"There's double that in it for you if you just keep my drink full for the next two hours. Once I can't walk make sure I get home safe. Agreed?"

The barkeep nods, smiles, and fills his cup.

"Who runs the day to day of this place? Who can I talk to about a small business opportunity?"

He was looking directly at and thought he was speaking to the barkeep. He just walked away and didn't respond. Once the barkeep was on this end of the bar again BigEasy spoke sternly.

"Whose in charge?"

The barkeep smiled and leaned over, "We agreed on full glasses and home safe, nothing else." He went back to taking care of other customers and BigEasy laughed out loud and commented to himself, "They trained them well. Now I really need to meet the owner".

Detroit...  This wasn't a foreign place to one russet furred creature...  But it had been quite a while since he had climbed into the belly of one of those huge metal birds but once again a wanderlust had taken one small fox.  Well...  Not quite so small was he anymore!  He had been but a young pup the last time his paws brought him to these streets but now there before you stood a strapping young fox...  Sleek of fur and mischievously glittering of eye.  He had found a new home on the streets of Detroit even if it was just for a season.  But who knows?  Maybe he'd prolong his stay.  So far he had found a number of friendly faces and even though he felt an odd lost sensation being without his partner in crime, he figured he might would stay a while.  The jerky was good, the company was delightful.

The more he wandered, the more memories of this place began to wash over him.  They were good...  Mostly.  But also painful.  People didn't live forever...  This much he had learned.  People caused pain...  People caused confusion...  But people were also good.  In any case, Little Man continued to wander his old haunts until one particular place caught his eye.  A soft yip was given as he surveyed the front of the newly branded 'Blue Heaven.'  The sign was lovely, although he had no clue as to the markings on it.  New and spruced up, but the old scents were there...  He knew this place...  He knew what lay inside.  So it was that instinctively he found a convenient pair of shoes that entered the establishment and expertly weaved around them to enter ahead of them.  Eyes took in the scene before him.  Nose twitched with an enthusiasm that made his whole form quiver a tad.  This was home...  Well one of those places he called home.  Moving in like he owned the place, Little Man nosed an ankle here, ducked under a tablecloth there...  Just poking his nose into everything as he explored the place.  It wasn't new but there were still new smells mingled among the familiar.  Many new smells...  There weren't many people that he remembered left here...  A sad reinforcement of the violence surrounding the two leggeds.

Bushy tail flicked excitedly as one particular smell caught his attention.  Male...  Feline...  A sudden yip yip was released as he recognized that scent in an instant.  This odd bark drew the attention of more than one person in the bar.  A fox?  What in the heck was a fox doing in here?  Didn't they have codes that ordered against that?  Should they call the exterminator?  The zoo?  Who do you call when a fox wanders into your establishment?  Well frankly Little Man didn't seem to care.  He had one goal...  But he wasn't the only one.  As he wandered out from under one of the tables, a loud shrill screech sounded out.  It wasn't a screech of fear, anger, or any that would have been more normal at the sight of a fox, but one of pure joy and excitement.  This cry heralded the flying attack of a familiar ball of fur.  Patches...  The playmate he had grown so attached to as a young fox soon landed square on his back.  Another series of excitable yips sounded out as he took off before rolling to dislodge the feline and engaging in a rapid and fairly violent play bout.  Knocking into chairs and legs...  Table and human...  The pair of them romped heedless of the fact that they were causing upheaval in a quite nice establishment.  "What in the world is going on in here?!"  A commanding voice rang out through the bar area as Lily made herself known.  "Patches!  Patches what has gotten into you-  Is that a fox?"  Confusion rang out but even as she asked she knew the answer...  It came in verbal form as the grumpy older Bartender excused himself from his conversation.  "Haven't seen him around in a while...  And to think I finally got the tooth marks sanded out of that table leg."  The gruff voice of Marcus wasn't fooling anyone...  The small hint of fondness was there if you listened.  Lily shook her head a bit as she earned an slightly confused look from Daisy.  "That's not...  Is it?  Good grief he got big."  Lily merely laughed a little and nodded.  "That he did.  Go on you two.  Get!"  And at least for now, the reunited pair zoomed off, up the stairs toward a less populated area to continue their rambunctious play.

Corky walked out of the office, taking in a deep breath and surveying the establishment.  She quite enjoyed being a silent partner in the business.  She didn't have to handle anything, but making sure money was where it was supposed to be, and the bank never questioned the size of the deposits.    When Corky visited, she usually just acted like a normal patron.  She'd buy her drinks, pay for whatever company she fancied, even it was usually Lily.  Occasionally Corky found herself enjoying the company of a overly feisty red-head named Rose.   With all the flower based names at Blue Heaven the Godmother couldn't help but wonder if she should have just renamed the place "The Flower Pot."   Then she wondered if she should have a special with all three, and just call it "The Bouquet."

'Thoughts for another time...' she thought as she sat down at her usual booth, right as a huge commotion shook the establishment.  Corky looked up from her beer just in time to see a huge ball of white, and was that red?  She thought.   There was a pause in the ruckus that LittleMan and his best feline friend were causing.  The Godmother couldn't believe her eyes, of everyone she'd lost.  She never expected the vulpine friend she'd made to be one of the survivors.   She called Lily over.

"Corks, what ya need love.  Ya knows I'm working, but I'm free this evening.  It'd be just for fun this time...." Lily winked at Blue Heaven's silent partner.

An approving smirk passed across Corky's lips. "I'll be happy to take you up on that.  But, I called you over here, because, I gotta know.  Was that fox, was that Little Man? I mean what other fox would wander in here to play with Patches?"

"Indeedy it was."  Lily tossed Corky a bag of beef jerky. "Go say hi, they took of up stairs. I was going to when I got the chance, but you can go now."

"Thanks. Lil."  Corky said as she got up, and walked as quickly as she could towards the stairs.

All she had to do was follow the sounds of yips, cat squeaks, and fox laughter to the third floor of the establishment.  She sat down, and called out in a quiet moment.  "Patches!  Little Man!"   She wasn't sure of the fox would even remember her, but she hoped he did.

There was enough crashing from upstairs that it was likely to draw quite a bit of attention.  If someone with even a sliver of imagination didn't know what was going on up there, then they'd likely really wonder.  Mostly crashing befit of the two animals, but also the high pitched fox laughter and joyful screeches were paramount in the sounds coming from up the stairs.  No one seemed real eager to go up and check on the situation, but those that remembered the fox knew that it wasn't likely to be anything harmful...  Except perhaps to property.  In any case, the two were having the grandest of times romping about until finally all their current chaotic energy was spent.

After a good few minutes, the pair broke apart their playful fray to lay merely inches apart.  Patches contentedly washed his tongue along his fur just giving himself a good washing, while LittleMan lay there panting softly.  Finally silence had fallen upon their company until footsteps were noted coming up the stairs.  Patches' ears perked up and LittleMan looked toward the door, his nose twitching erratically.  Smells told him far more than his eyes could after all.  Those footsteps...  Sound also played a big part in it.  When he was small, he could fairly reliably ascertain who was about to walk into the room just by the sound of their footsteps.  But any more he wasn't quite as keen.  That only heightened his curiosity as to who was coming up to likely check on the damages...  Or perhaps just come say hello?  The two legged ones were good about that.  LittleMan never understood why many of them loved the foxes so...  Moreso his sister than himself, but he knew he too had been adored.  Patches didn't seem fussed in the least.  All the people here were his anyway, even the ones who didn't know it yet.

But so it was that LittleMan's focus was intently fixated upon the door as the footsteps completed their approach and a woman came to the door.  Nose still taking in the situation, LittleMan felt a tension line his frame briefly.  After the death of his dear Azeri, his sister and he had gone to live akin to the life foxes typically would live...  Sure they had stayed near people, but he hadn't spent much time in their midst for quite a while...  At least long enough for the wild wariness to sink in.  Moving to his paws, he would move a few feet off giving a soft whine as he sought an escape.  Very quickly, though, he shook off this instant feeling of uncertainty as he gave the woman another look...  Another sniff...  Patches moved fluidly to his paws, padding over and lightly rubbing against Corky's calves in greeting.  She was his human whether she'd been around much or not.  As she spoke his name...  A name all but left to the winds, LittleMan perked up his oversized ears looking to her.  He focused fully upon her and her scent clicked.  Friend...  Family...  A gleeful cacophony of yips would be released as he all but flung himself at the woman.  He nosed her legs in excitement as he greeted her with much more warmth and eagerness than he had formerly shown.  But once the chaos had died down in his eyes just a touch, he began to nose her pockets, his paws braced upon her leg...  And they said it was the elephants that never forgot...

He entered the Blue Heaven again, he was clean from head to toe, he had a bank roll in his pocket.  He ordered a vodka and cranberry as he thought about how she tried to play him.  He smiled as he told her that there would be no more shopping sprees or late night creeps, no more VIP's no more dough.  How they couldn't even kick it no mo.  He had the clothes he bought her donated to the salvation army.  Her accounts emptied and the car taken and a grayhound bus ticket was waiting for her at the bus station back to Tennessee.   She would have to walk to the station.

His drink went down smooth as he had her replacement arriving within an hour.  This one had a crush on him since they were kids and he valued her opinion she was a smart cookie.  He wondered why he wasted so much time with the wrong ones when he had the right one standing there under his nose.  The music got him to thinking and the drinks had him singing softly he was enjoying the evironment.  He told the bartender to tell Corky that this was a great place she had.

MikhiMusso was new in town, and he had to get busy. He had no time to waste and business moves had to be made, sooner than later. He had copped a spot in the city to get started, just a little somethin he called home for now. An upgrade would definitely be in line moving forward. He makes his way out into the city just taking it all in for a moment, checking the scene staying with a swivel head. Looking at the goings on, this business venture could make out good. He spots the first location that catches his eyes. Blue Heaven was the first spot that had a little bounce to it. Mikhi puts his joint out and enters the establishment. He walks in and removes his fedora. He pauses at the door and scans the scene carefully, with the bounce of the music, his foot taps to the beat. Looking over the scene he spots the bar and makes his way over.

“ Hello, A shot of cognac please, and can I smoke in here?”

He says as he waits for his drink and a response. The tender served Mikhi his drink and passed him an ashtray. He thanks the tender as he makes his way to be seated.

Viridia walked into the club with her hands in the pockets of her jeans. Trying to feel more comfortable, she forced them out- but had been subconsciously tucked into the pockets of her jackets soon after. Lots of people were spread out around the bar talking, flirting, drinking, and spending time with some of the hired company.

Amira had been training her for a little while now, and Viridia was a little scared to even ask about what sort of training would take place tonight.

Then again, Viridia had been the one who'd begged to accompany her here, so she supposed she couldn't complain regardless of what the evening had in store for her. She slipped into a corner booth and smirked when the waitress approached her first.

"Uh- I'll let someone else order for me. Thanks."
