Finally, a reason behind the war? Started by: ChuckTesta on Nov 06, '11 21:24

Is this politics?

NOPE

No answers are required, my friendddd...Explanations after wars should be taking as goodwill by the leaders, not protocol!

There are no rules in the mafia. People seem to forget that time to time...

YouAreHere, you've obviously got a bee in your bonnet and it is doing work on your ass right now. I don't know what a "ROFL" is, but I do know what Omerta is. Omerta in it's basic definition means a 'code of silence'. Taking it a step further, it can actually be presented to imply 'the categorical prohibition of cooperation with state authorities or reliance on its services, even when one has been victim of a crime'. We keep silence against those OUTSIDE of the business. Not those within. I was not informed as to why my Father died. There was no notes left, no whispers passed along. He paid his dues, he worked hard, and in turn was killed for believing in a leader he was better off not believing in, because at the end of the day the leader didn't care enough to explain why their family was dying.

You speak of Omerta, the concept of 'code of silene' and you aren't in my family, nor any of the leaders for that matter, and you demand to know about their innerworkings. If the information should be classified, that's breaking Omerta. As to your leader not telling you why, I find that to speak for itself. Either you trusted someone who didn't care to know and should follow suit, or you weren't trusted enough to be told.

YouAreHere, you speak as if you are an experienced member of this world. What you are not saying, however, speaks volumes. You have obviously never had a successful run at the top structure of this world. You have obviously never been embroiled in the politics that run and ruin the upper structure of the Mafia. Words are the difference between life and death, and those who say differently are just as inexperienced as you are. Those who belittle one based on rank has obviously never seen an outspoken man go from thug to the best hit man this world has seen. Or best leader. Or best Godfather. Or best business owner. Words are everything in our world.

I never claimed to be experienced, and what haven't I said? I don't know why your father died and not because I can't find out, but because I respect my GodMother's decicions because I know she will do what's best for the city. As for having never seen the top of this thing's structure, it changes with each new member at the top, so please tell me why I should trust you, someone who clearly doesn't know any of the leaders on a personal level. Words are just words, and actions will ALWAYS speak louder than words. Alliances are extremely important and maintained by words, but at the end of the day the best wordsmiths needs guns backing him to get anything done on a massive level. I also would like to say that I have no respect for thugs and gangsters... who come to the streets and whine about why their fathers died. You forgot the 'and come to the streets and whine about why their fathers died' which is an easy mistake to make I guess, even though you're supposedly so much smarter than little naive me. I also never claimed to be the best at anything, but unlike you I've put in an effort and go to bed knowing that I've got a clear conscience every night. I've done what's best for my city, except for the couple of times I lose respect for people whining in the streets and let them know it.

I have changed with the times more than many have. I have accepted regime changes as steadily as I have my paycheck from the post office and old ladies' purses. Being told to 'shut up' may make me silent for a day, but it will not stop those who have to remain silent for a lifetime. We killed the strongest tyrants this world has seen in Roman and Premeir for keeping the masses silent. Do you, on your comfy golden podium in your Godfather's crew, feel that you will remain safe just as long by telling us to 'shut up'?

You are complaining about your father's death, you clearly haven't moved on, you don't even have a family. I'm not telling you to shut up because I think I'm untouchable, as a matter of fact I think I should be killed by my Godmother for less reason because I'm in her crew. As a matter of fact, the first time my bloodline was given power by Alabama, he forced himself down from his position for having an embarrassing outburst in the streets. That's an example of one of those action thingy's speaking louder than words. I'm telling you to shut up because your whining and not DOING anything.

My 'whining' may be embarrassing, but I only have myself on the line. You, who was quick to a temper tantrum when you thought I was insulting your precious lifestyle, are embarrassing not only yourself, but your leader and your entire city. Brava. In your position your actions should never bring shame to the family, but the fact that you have become unnerved over my mere words, which you claimed were 'just words', speaks much more than the action you crave.

That's right, you only have yourself on the line. Congratulations, you risked nothing. My quick temper tantrum is because you gangsters and thugs who are complaining complain the leaders are bullying you when they do give you an answer, so I decided I would step in. I'm in no position to push anything, despite being in a GodMother crew. So yes, I wasn't 'unnerved' (that's happened before and it was actually embarassing) but I did disrespect you. You being someone who came to the streets with the intent of disrespecting the current leaders. How will I ever live with the guilt of 'bullying' you. Oh and I'm made because of my actions, not my words, again something you probably don't understand but that's not my problem.

I never expected anyone to hold hands after a regime change. You are spending more time having a fantasy conversation with my taxidermy animals than you are actually debating with me. I pity the fool that allows you into their crew. And allows you Made Man at that.

Your whining about a war shortly after a regime change, that shows you didn't expect and prepare for it. A couple members of our family know I was a wee bit paranoid some nights when other cities had multiple leaders on because I had a feeling there would be another war. And I love that my conversation is a fantasy even though you're responding, I have one hell of an imagination if it can force you to respond. You also know nothing about me because I only let those on a need to know basis know about my business. Congratulations, you've proved that my attempts to remain anonymous worked. Thank you for your time, I'd say it's been a pleasure but it wasn't.

Mister Abdul, you are correct. Reasons for wars are meant as goodwill from the leaders, not as protocol. Should anyone accept this as a valid reason?

NOPE!

The leaders extended goodwill to us after removing the foolish former regime. They extended goodwill to us FIVE times in FIVE separate speeches. Were we the public wrong to expect the same courtesy this time? NOPE! In fact I feel the lack of reasoning from the leaders is almost suspicious. They were more than happy to share their views on why Roman and Premeir should be removed. Now they have nothing to say, which implies there was no reasoning behind this latest war. Is that what the leaders want the world to believe? That everyone's bloodline lost a long toiling member over nothing? Even if there wasn't a reason the leaders need to soothe the fears of the new young mobsters. If we are to believe that we are going to lose members of our family tree every week, eventually many will stop returning. Less people on the streets means less people in crews, which means less members for families that need the income those numbers provide. It's a slippery slope. Because not ONE leader can extend a professional courtesy, because we are all professionals here I'd hope, they in turn will suffer down the road from lack of income. Kiss your dreams of large headquarters and plentiful employed bodyguards goodbye, leaders. Those days will be long over if you cannot get off of your thrones long enough to give the public something.

YouAreHere, I'm genuinely starting to feel sorry for you. I don't have the energy to continue to argue with you over moot points that have nothing to do with my original speech. Fine, I am a gangster, my words mean nothing. Words in general mean nothing. Your world must be very small to believe that all you have to do is a be a good little boy and knock over the post offices again and again to get anywhere. Guns are important, sure, but some of the most successful leaders this world has seen has had nothing more than their ability to speak. No one remembers the guns. I don't even remember who shot whom from all the wars past. I can, however, recall a majority of men and women who made this world exciting using their words.

Take recent events for instance. Chuckle spearheaded a campaign against Roman and Premeir. He did not have the biggest gun. In fact, all of the biggest guns already existed in the world and had done nothing. Until he used his WORDS to convince people the world would be better without them, no one was going to do anything. He did this knowing he wasn't the strongest mobster, he did this knowing the outcome could go horribly wrong. He did it with words. If you still honestly believe words mean nothing than please, share that with the leaders that are currently trying to build a belief of freedom of speech in our world. You are working against them if you believe words mean nothing. If you believe that you know more than the leaders, then continue beating down anyone that speaks out about anything. You'll get the silence you crave soon enough.

If you took the time and gave a thought to anyone outside yourself or your immediate family you would realize there is an entire population of mobsters all working for the same thing. Money and recognition. The world we wanted to create with the tyrants gone was one where we could all work together without fear of being stifled. A world where leaders could run their own cities as they see fit without fear of being told 'no'. Our world is built on communication. How do you suggest the leaders do this without communicating?

I have not complained or whined about how my Father died. I know how he died. He was shot. I am doing something. I am making a speech so that people can be represented. Is everyone so very naive to think that I am the only one who thinks this way? I am pointing out that the leaders of this world, this world that was to be so different than the one that Roman and Premeir ran, are heading down the same path. In the transcripts of the meetings between the leaders I referenced earlier someone had said, "we do not want to be the monsters we just killed".

Then why are you acting like them? Secrecy and lies. Closed doors and tight lips. That is how the empire before was ruined. It will ruin this one as well.

I am not complaining that I am being bullied by leaders. I am complaining quite the opposite. I am complaining that none of the leaders are even PRESENT. At this point I would love for one of the leaders to even sneeze on me. At least it would show they acknowledge that someone other than themselves exist.

I was prepared for regime changes. We all were, and had been for months. We knew the Roman Empire lasted too long. Again, it is not them that I am complaining about. I am again just trying to show the current leaders that they are running things in a much different manner than they had originally portrayed. If they had not said a single word after taking down Roman and Premeir I expect people would have been angry for days. Instead we were given a taste of what our world could be like. Several cities working together. An influx of activity in the streets. The promise of a golden era. That taste was taken away when those leaders turned on one another and instead of keeping up appearances decided to lock themselves into their HQs. The silence was harsh. Much more harsh knowing that we had been lied to. They lied to get us on their side, and now instead of maintaining the lie to keep us happy they have shown their true colors. They tipped their hand too soon.

YouAreHere, I see you have responded to other, similar speeches in the streets in a calm and rational manner. What about my speech prevents you from providing the same thought to my original message? You have deviated down a road toward a debate that neither of us will win. We can continue to make slights against one another but that does not fix things. Perhaps if we took the time to come up with a solution for how the world should be run, we could make a difference. I merely offer advice to the leaders. History has not traveled far. Take a look through the records of our world's past. A good leader has always been defined as one that, love or hate their decisions, you can respect. How can we respect leaders when they have become larger versions of the NPMs many so despise? They make money and they don't communicate. I see no difference between the two at this point.

At the end of the day, it is a very scary, scary sign that none of the leaders care about this world or the majority of the population within it. Only one leader has bothered to reply to my speech, and he spouted off the tag line to my taxidermy business. I passionately believe in this world and have for many generations. I'm not looking for a fight. I'm looking for a simple explanation to a war. This should be the easiest part of being a leader. How hard is it to make people like you, to keep you around another night? If the leaders here can't simply make a small two minute speech, how can we even expect them to make the hard decisions? How can we expect them to value our work? How can we expect them to protect our cities? How can we expect them to keep us alive?

The answer is simple... they can't. They can't keep us alive, they don't value us. This past war is a large testament to that fact. Until someone says differently, it's just me, Chuck Testa, praying for someone to fix what the leaders have broke.

Chuckle used a hell of a lot more than words to do what he did, he used words to express his plan, but he wasn't just selling words. He was selling a plan, a common goal, and a ridiculous amount of his time thinking and planning. Not only that, he may not have had the biggest gun, but he probably wouldn't have been able to do it without those members with guns. I don't want silence, I want you to speak with respect. I refuse to speak to you like an equal because you try to look down on those above me, ridiculously disrespectful. Anyone who does that deserves a spot in the obituaries. I care a lot about other cities, before the end of Roman and Premier, I was having words with Kuklinski. A number of people (who will remain anonymous) spoke in other speeches to attract people's attention to better topics and all but one of them were from different cities. Some of them are now in DT, whether or not I helped convince them to come or not is something you would have to ask them, but at the very least its a possibility. (Kuklinski if you read this yes I was doing it intentionally and of course I knew you'd figure it out). If that's not enough for you, a DT CL died in the war because I felt we should pro a CL from another city who was actively shooting.

When the new leaders agreed to 'not be like the monsters before them,' they meant openly banning people from all cities and preventing people from speaking at all. Neither is happening and they just got done with a war, sorry if it takes a while to organize a speech. If you would've come out and spoken respectfully I would acknowledge that you have a point, but you didn't and I won't. I won't in the future to prove that there are consequences for acting ridiculous because you don't care about this member of your bloodline. I will for future members of your bloodline, like I will for almost anyone. The leaders aren't 'showing their true colors,' they're doing what they think is best for their cities and you are in no position to judge because you don't know any of the decicions they make and problems they face on a daily basis. The leaders are 'NPM's to you because you are lazy. You don't go to IRC avenue and introduce yourself. Alabama has literally invited all members to ask any questions ever if presented in a polite manner, yet you'd rather focus on a short period of time where the godmother doesn't come to the streets. Threads / Posts: 10 / 486. If 486 posts isn't a street presence, what the hell is? Not only that, most of them are well thought out. You are whining, otherwise your stupid because you didn't even pretend to show respect and this type of thread appears after every war.

Oh and a CL did sneeze on you, Cadoras, and you disrespected him. Big shock on your reaction. I'd like to make this clear, if your next of kin decides to bring this up again RESPECTFULLY, I'll try to participate respectfully, but you have forfeigted that right.

Report Post Tip

It is a shame that you didn't devote the same time and effort to the opening of this speech as you did to many of the subsequent responses, which were, by and large, pretty insightful.

It is easy to dismiss a discussion if it is coming from a Thug or a nobody, but this is only really a valid tactic when they are speculating about things they have no knowledge of or reason to know about. When they actually make a logical and sound argument, dismissing it out of hand just makes you look afraid or unable to respond in kind. I'm not advocating that every leader should feel obligated to answer to every Thug on every occasion, but whilst it might not be conventional, if one has a valid point or concern, I'll take the time to answer them.

The most important issue was one that FattyFats actually raised, being that the majority of the people at the top of this are dead and it does make it rather difficult to come out to explain your reasons for something when you are a corpse. Is everyone dead? No. There are some of the decision makers around who decided not to grace you with their reasons. Would I do the same in their shoes? Probably not, but they have their own style and this is it. We all know the options at our disposal if we don't like the business practices of people around here and nothing except our own inability to do so is stopping us from removing them.

JesseJames, as you can imagine, is a busy man at the moment restructuring a city and recovering from the monumental contribution he made to the most important aspect of the war, actually winning it. Whilst there are fewer staunch advocates for the need of leadership in the street than I, I would always sacrifice that for being victorious. However, I would speculate that he will likely make his way to the Streets at his first opportunity and if that isn't satisfactory for you after over 30 straight hours hunting some considerably stealthy bastards, I'll have to refer you to the aforementioned options.

You seem to be focusing upon the fact that there were five separate topics regarding the previous war, but of those five, who actually delved into their reasons for the war? I could only find four myself (although I may have overlooked one) and of those, it was only Chuckle who actually explained at length why things came to pass from his perspective. Given that the authors of the other 3 and Chuckle himself are dead, is it any real surprise that they didn't maintain this pattern, given their pretty high profile deaths? And, given that they also didn't elaborate on their reasons then, why would they suddenly elaborate on their reasons now? I don't think it is a case that you've been deceived, I think it is more a case of you choosing to believe something that was never purported to be true.

Are words important? Absolutely. A leader needs to hone a reputation if he expects people to follow him long term and a leader's street presence gives an indication to the public at large how he represents himself, how capable he is and how well he is likely to operate in the future. People who dismiss this important requirement are not going to be a success for very long and likely to be forgotten just as fast. There are exceptions to that, but not many and it will be increasingly important for any future Bosses of Chicago to make a name for themselves in the streets.

Equally, do I think that you're taken the lack of words in the immediate aftermath of a huge conflict as too dire a sign? Absolutely. The leaders had already scheduled a meeting for yesterday evening after which time they were more likely to be in a position to have all of their own ducks lined up and speak from a position of knowledge. That has contributed to the delay in some leaders speaking without a doubt.

The new regime is only just finding its feet and already you're desperately trying to trip it up. These things take time and a war encompassing the whole nation is likely to set it back a good few paces. Despite the negatives of so many capable people going in the ground, this situation has presented us with an opportunity to fashion new rules and new policies, whilst the majority of our members are young and thus not set in their ways, giving them chance to grow up with them and become used to them as they progress.

I still firmly believe that this can be a time where we seek to improve standards within our families, our cities and our community. It is easy to point the finger now, because the transparency that AlabamaWorley spoke about necessitates a certain amount of spring cleaning first. Nothing can happen over night and I know that The Cheese Syndicate has some interesting ideas in the works. I know that Stallion in New York has a strong vision for his city. I know AlabamaWorley has things she is orchestrating in Detroit and I know that the wind of change is also swirling around St Louis.

Unfortunately, none of these things can be put into place immediately, but the groundwork is always being laid. JesseJames and I are hard at work in Cheesy Towers forging a future for Chicago that Monet and PizzaTheHut are implementing at a street level. Everyone in Chicago understands their value. It was this value that caused The Cheese Syndicate to take control of Chicago in the first place, as too much emphasis was being placed on other cities and their well being, whilst forsaking our own. We can keep you alive, we can protect our city and you can bet that every family within our city can and will be proud of themselves and what they stand for.
