Ladies and Gentlemen, I came here today to pose a question and hope to see plenty of people get involved. Everyone has some sort of target to achieve in their near future. Whether it be as small as getting that next unit or as big as running their own city. If one doesn't have any targets well.. that's them. With recent wars takin' or sweeping away many strong leaders the world has now become a place of peace. For the moment. All thanks to the new Godfather Society. With them makin' rules not for how cities to be run but how effectively it should be run for the better of the community. For example, an excellent idea of their being a maximum four families per city instead of having like six/seven but only half full. This not only affects the idea of their being a city limit where one city has more families than the other but almost a balanced equilibrium in society. Whilst also giving meaning to auths. Now, this brings me to the situation in Las-Vegas. What situation, some may ask. But I'm talking about those that have packed up and left to set-up shop in LV. Fair-play to them and those that make successful families I and many others salute. But. With not having many BG's, let's be honest not a lot of money and told to open and run their own family. Well, that's bravery out there and I wish them all the best. It's something that I haven't seen happen in a long while or better yet ever. Now here's the question?

Here's a question for the crew-leaders and also the Godfather's who came up with the idea. If you had the chance and opportunity like this what would you do? Would you take it or patiently wait for the chance to be authed traditionally. And do you think the crew-leaders of the future should take their shot now and pack up and leave?

Many people might have the dreams of becoming CL's and I can guarantee that it's a lot more than the one person minus the three that passed away (R.I.P.). So let me ask you. You've got the chance to become a CL. You don't really have to do much other than probably paying your way out and buying a HQ. But the question is this. What made you stay? What made you not take the chance to become a CL and run your own family. Are you waiting for a traditional auth where you can have the protection of your city. The wealth of your city. The well being of your city. What is it that made you turn down the opportunity to run your own family.

I am on the fence with this one.

I say fair play to all those who decide to spread their wings and attempt to make something of themselves. It shows great initiative and willingness to better oneself. It also takes some big balls to step into the city and be prepared to lay down your life in order to take top spot.

On the other hand what have these people done to deserve this chance? Yes they have been granted their Made button their CL has shown belief in them but they don't necessarily deserve it. Above made of course literally anyone can just pack up and move to LV without a care in the world.

It is an interesting scenario but i wish everyone who tried it the best of luck.

Personally. I have a few ideas on how I would have handled the situation were I presented with that as a choice in my earlier days. Ultimately I would have taken the chance, but I would have ensured I had some plans in mind to help keep myself alive for a long time.

I think the key factor a lot of people don't consider is the fact that Vegas is currently Open until someone reaches Godfather. A lot of people seem to think that reaching Godfather is easy, trust me, its not as easy as people may think. So with that in mind, there is no reason to rush in there all guns blazing, there is plenty of time to sit down and plan your moves and ensure that you have all your boxes ticked before you pack your bags and head on down to Sin City.

We've already saw what can happen to people that are too eager for their shot. Patience is the key here, in my opinion of course.

Hound you bring up a good question and although I am not high enough ranked to go out there and take a spot in Las Vegas I can only guess a few reasons might be security.. I mean this thing just started and a decent number of people already died trying to win over the city of sin. Maybe people are out there planning things a bit better.. I mean setting up with 10 friends instead of 1, or 10 friends setting up might help sleep safe at night, but hell who knows its Las Vegas and anything can happen..minus make money. Must be a few high ranked mobsters itching for the chance, but of course a good number were lost in the previous weeks so maybe not as many as I think hell I don't know.

I've got huuge dreams, like I said in my last thread. One of them being a CL on this account. So ofcourse I considered it and was ready to pack, discussin' it with two very close friends of mine, (Magneto, Marty). However, we then thought sod it and didn't speak of it again. Why? Why the hell would you do that? I thought you had huge dreams of becoming CL's? Some of you may have asked. I'll tell you why.

Packing and leaving to set up shop in a completely new city is difficult to do. There are many things you need to consider. Money, Kills, BG's, common sense. (We can't just have any idiot set up shop and run a family). 

Let's be honest, with the recent ban of NPM's it'll mean that you have to have more money than previous CL's in order to run a family. Why? Because NPM's plays a huge role in some families in terms of finance. You need BG's to protect yourself. It's a must. Even though they said no EWP or IWP they done that for a reason. So your an easy target, if you fuck up, I mean come on, do you really think they'd let anyone become CL without some sort of security net. They could eventually buy BG's but those are the ones that are smart and visualise the future. I can guarantee that if this was introduced a month ago, LV would be the biggest city by far. No doubt. You'd also need kills. Some of you might have a canon of a gun and then again some of you might not even know that you have a gun. And if you set up shop, you'd need a pretty decent gun to protect your family with. To be honest, I wouldn't become CL unless I had atleast EWP and a beast of a gun. Why? Because not only do I want to look after myself but I want to also protect my family and city. 

1) Money - To buy out of your city/family and buy a HQ
2) BodyGuards - You need to be able to protect yourself
3) Kills - You need to be able to defend your family incase of a war, what's the point of having a family who are relying on you if you can't take out a not protected wise-guy

Sal hit it right on the nose. With out having personal protection, I would never consider becoming a CL. I always believe that if you can't defend your self, how can you ever be able to defend others? The money issue would eventually be resolve as you gain more members to create revenue from taxes. NPM's may be good money makers but they will never be able to replace the productivity of actual man power.

Though the valid point has been made about protection yet in the past we've seen many a leader start out without protection and it then becomes his families responsibility to help their leader achieve protection so that they may also be protected.

However Vegas is a special situation you're not starting out in your former leaders home city with that as a bit of protection before you reach your own, bur never the less I think a leader should have established protection before he/she strikes out on their own regardless the scenario.

I've actually had to debate about legit cities doing this past and present, I see Vegas as a fun way to make the wrong stand out even more.

I'd have to agree with most of Bama's sentiments and echo a few of my own. When we first decided to unleash the idea of letting Las Vegas open to anyone who had support from there current hierarchy, I had mixed emotions as to how it would plan out and transpire and so far things have been how I thought they would, if not slightly less chaotic.

Its pretty apparent that for most who decided to leave their current set up to try go it alone in Las Vegas underestimated the task that lay ahead and duly paid with their lives. Its hard sometimes when a Bold shaped suite is dangled in front of you to actually take a step back and see the whole picture. As the motion was designed to offer a life line in the shape of a Crew Leader that may not exist within a city that the said person resides.

Made Men of this world have been excepted into a city set up and therefore in my opinion have earned the right to set up, in normal circumstances but as well all know most of our core values have been thrown out were Las Vegas is concerned, so for me, no matter if you have earned the right, its irrelevant because of the open floor that Las Vegas presents. As long as you have a simple," Yes you can go".

Many scenarios have run through the old thinking cap in regards to how my approach would be with the Las Vegas situation, some are outlandish, some slightly more reserved but that's my point, never would I just think, "Shit, I have a chance at going bold", when in actual fact if you run in there blind and hope for the best it will not end pretty.

Personally IF I was going to do a move to Las Vegas it would not be on a whim. It would be a well thought out process. I would take a lot of contacts my line may have acquired along the way, or all of whom, have the tools to survive until I or any of the people I asked could make it to GF to solidify a place on the GF council and secure a future in Las Vegas, simply it's the most sensible and viable option, in my eyes. If I couldn't acquire this support, then I would simply not put my life on the line.

Also as Bamma said, its all about patience. Lets be realistic, we will not be seeing a GF in the city for a while unless a member who has the already required specifications decides to make a move, which is actually a very plausible option, but does take the fun out of what the city has been given. So why the massive rush to move? Surely it's the hare that wins this race.

Though in all honesty I would hope that most of you respectable men and women of mafia would consider staying with your rightful city. Continuing the path that the Godfather of the pertained city has set out for everyone who lives there. I know for some bloodlines that haven't had the chance to wear the bold suit are jumping at this oppritunity as it doesn't come around very often.

Home is where the heart is and where the focus should be, not in some wild west shoot out at the OK coral. We've had enough bloodshed as of late and I thought this was a rebuilding period?

Regardless of how many bodyguards I have or my gun strength I would stay in the crew I am loyal to and earn my way to get authed the old way. Though I can say from being the first crew leader in a long time to not be IWP(I had one bg when first authed) and had a below average gun then as long as you have the right people next to you, lots of patience, and work your ass off then it shouldn't stop from achieving greater things.

If I did go into LV as a new CL I would have a plan, people ready to back me up, I would have an ok gun and I would go in guns blazing. Each person asking to go into LV has just proven that their own personal desires are greater than their loyalty to their previous city. People like that you don't want around to stab you in the back while you are building a crew.

Well, I was asked personally, by a current CL in Vegas, to be his RHM before he went to set up. I was even told that if I wanted, I could go set up in Vegas myself. I declined both offers. Of course my Bloodline's dream has been to become a CL of their own family and it's the same with me. The reason why I decided not to go to Vegas as a RHM or CL is because I took a vow to my GodFather, my CL, and my city. When it comes to my bloodline, we put family first before anything. I honestly believe that I will do great things in this world and I wouldn't want to do it any other place then right here in St. Louis.

So that is why I am still here, in the great city of St. Louis. I love it here, sunny skies, bloody alleyways, sexy bitches, money. It's the life.
