| Corrupt Officers/Street Presence -Wanna Live? | Started by: HighSociety on Nov 20, '11 05:47 |

High Society, feeling as though some folks don't visit the streets as much as they should, hoped his next message might ring a bit louder this time to Leaders and Members alike.
Within the last 24-36 Hours, i have already seen 5-10 people fall at the hands of these new Corrupt Officers. Wasted Time and Wasted Talent, cast aside and for what, a whim? People get curious about something new in our Society and try to kill it. This brings to light two disturbing facts always present and seldom learned from.
1) "It's new, so we can kill it right"? NO! YOU CANT! Case in Point, The deaths mentioned above!
2) "Read The Streets? Why Would I?" Because then you would know that they and all their friends will hunt you down and kill your stubborn ass!
Now, with that said, Yes, you can kill Corrupt Officers, but if you kill/shoot at Officer 1, Officer's 2-10, will come find you! Just because something is new, doesn't mean it has to be dead. Bloody Hell, find out what it is and be smart about it! If after you read The OOC Thread, seen here http://mafiareturns.com/comm/thread/204361 You still want to play gunslinger, knock yourself out. But i'd wager those who've fallen so far didn't wait to read what they were and just shot. This is a death not needed. We all spend our precious time working hard here and we should be rewarded for it. But like anything else here, Callous Disregard( my new favorite phrase ) is often met with an untimely death. Take a step back, put the safety on and go rob a purse. Durden and his gang will be back and you will have plenty to shoot at.
To That End, Reading up on the goings on of this place, in any Alley, Can Save Your Life; Protection Lists, Corrupt Officers, Not Peeing on HelpDesk's Shoes, etc...
These streets have many uses, from tellings tales of times past to notifications of the worlds events. Changes from squishy gods to Editorials from Mr Pickles. This stuff is often valuable in some part and is there for you to catch up. It is your place for updates, conversation, chances for poker, and also Longevity ( i.e. Reading Before Shooting )
So Take A Moment, Read a bit, and maybe live to see tomorrow, when Mr Corrupt and his pals, will make you money, instead of bury you!
Thanks For Reading. You're On Your Way! High Society smiles and steps down from his box of soap |

Scout twirls around his trusty, though slightly dented metal bat with a decal of "Red" blast upon the broad end of the bat. He nods his head a bit, throwing up a ball to crack it across the street, sailing into an abandon building. |

FattysFats turns up from nowhere, as always, Bruce and George are a couple of steps behind. Geprge is showing off his new diamond incrusted leash and pink cat coat. Clearly the proceeds from 2 guys 1 cat have started to roll in.
HighSociety, firstly, if you do not mind me saying, you would like ultra cute if you wear a little eyeliner. Not too much. Just a tab. It would really accentuate your beautiful eyes. Anyone, I completely agree. It seems we live in a world where if you are unsure about something, you kill it. See something you havent seen before? Kill it. We were all told about the dangers of theses Officers. In the coffee shops. In OOC Avenue. Hell, some even wore really ugly pieces of cardboard saying 'Do not shoot at me, ALL of my friends will shoot you back.' They could've at least sown it into the back of their uniforms. Bruce tried it with his uniform when he handcuffed me once, and it looked real cute on his back.
Knowledge is king. Those that lack knowledge end up dead. |

I don't necessarily think that it was a lack of knowledge that left a few people to kill some of these dirty cops. On the contrary it's simply a case of temptation of a free kill getting the better of some of our fellow mafiosi. |

Every moment of resistance to temptation is a victory. Guess these gents didn't win much at all. A hard lesson, but well learned by those who follow, as long as they to take a moment to perk up and listen to the world around them |

You see, for us to know exactly what was going on in this "Society" we needed "High"Society to tell us exactly what was going on! :P |

True enough words HighSociety, but the real test comes when you come face to face with temptation. That's what seperates the boys from the men.
And really I would say that those "gents" did win something albeit a small prize, a free kill, with little real retaliation from their victims corrupt colleagues. Also I would question whether there was actually anything to perk their ears up to, people were not prohibited from attempting to wack some of these fellows they were instead simply warned of some of the ramifications that may come about if they did try it on with these government agents.
Can't really slant someone for playing it a bit risky can you? |

I would tend to agree with what High Society has brought up. |

A riveting debate, HighSociety, and one that I'm delighted to contribute to.
These Corrupt Officers are a new phenomenon within our world, and for my part, I believe that while you make a valid point about ignorance of the facts, MajorTom has also noted something else of worth.
I don't doubt for a moment that some of those who recently died (RIP) had taken the time to inform themselves on what the presence of Corrupt Officers involved. They had at least a fair idea of what the risks were, but regardless they decided to test the waters and dip their toe into the unknown. They took the risk, and in my eyes this is an intrinsically mafiosi thing to do. We each have our own 'style', our own modus operandi as it were, and this recent spate of deaths simply served to prove that while some of us choose to sit aloof and learn all we can before taking risks, others are content to jump in for the sake of a kill. Granted, that attempted kill isn't of much benefit when you're swimming with the fishes, but it is an attempt no less.
I do also concur with your statement that some probably didn't do their homework on the New Breed, and as a result were probably quite stunned when the black walls of Death came closing in. A lesson learned, I would like to think.
It will be some time before we are all truly familiar with the capabilities of these Corrupt Officers; this is a case of trial and error, and I would point out that those who have died have actually gained those remaining a little more insight into how to handle temptation when it stares us in the face (OOC: in my opinion, unless you are confident your gun is fit to take out Chuck Norris, don't friggin' shoot). I wouldn't ever slate anyone who chooses to take that gamble - they do so with their lives in their own hands and that much they definitely do know.
As for me, I'm not a gambling woman, so I strongly doubt that I would be happy to pull the trigger knowing that my chances of survival may be slim. |

Ahahahahahahaha!
Irony! It's back again!
Question - if they're not reading the streets, is it likely that they will hear (see) your sage advice?
But, very good advice re: the officers. I find that if I let them be, they let me be. Seems best that way. |
