Corleone and The Joker Collaborate

Joker was in Chicago in the International Brotherhood of Teamster union Loan office.  He was in charge of approving certain loans when a young man walked in looking to borrow fifteen grand.  The loan office brought the application to The Joker.  Looking over the document Joker asked Sarah if this was a joke.  Sarah hunched her shoulders and walked out.  Joker walked into the lobby and called for Mr. Corleone.   When they were in Joker’s office Joker sat down behind his desk and asked Mr. Corleone to have a seat.

He told Mr. Corleone that  the IBT Saving and Loans are for card carrying union truck drivers.  Now when they loan money to outsiders its for big business loans like building a new Casino, A hotel or Apartment, a construction company that does big business.  Those loans start at a half million with a million in collateral.

Joker went on to say you're looking for fifteen grand. That's a small personal loan you can get at a regular bank.   Now I can help you with that but I gotta charge you interest, if you're interested in that.   The man nodded and then lit a cigar leaning back in the chair.  Joker explained that he would have to run a background check and speak with his boss.  The man nodded as if that wasn’t an issue.  Joker asked the man what was the loan for and when Corleone said payroll for some dock workers to unload a shipment.

Joker looked at the man and asked where he was from, the man said LA.  Joker then asks why was in Chicago trying to get a loan.   The man said that he was told by Henry Tucker that he needed to go to the IBT to get a loan.  Joker laughed and asked if Henry was out in the lobby.  Corleone said no.

Joker knew Henry and then understood that this wasn’t a legitimate business loan and then leaned back in his chair.  I need to see your operation.  The money you need for a month isn’t something I want on paper and before I kick out my hard earned cash I need to see what you showed Henry.  You see Henry and I go back. We've done some business together and he knows me well.  If he sent you to me as a favor that means your business is risky but profitable.  I need friends in LA.  I got a few contacts but you can never have enough friends you know what I mean.  Joker stands up and walks over to a cabinet across from them both and pulls out two glasses and pours them both a drink of whiskey.  Then he hands one to Corleone and takes the other for himself.

The two men meet again in LA.  The operation was solid from the looks of things.  Corleone was buying 240 kilos of opium to make two hundred kilos of medical grade cocaine.  Medical grade was safer for the customers and a faster but shorter high.  Once produced it didn’t need to be cut, it was ready to go and maintained a six percent purity for a strong touch.  It wasn’t an easy job to do but the man had all the equipment and the right cook to convert it.

Opium was much cheaper and the loss in the conversion and time didn’t save when buying pure cocaine but when you have to chop it there was an expense and then rolling out to the streets you could kill your customers faster.    So it was a matter of time. What did you have time for? The overall saving was ten to fifteen percent.  Which was the points Mr. Corleone offered to the Joker at the start.  Joker knew then that Corleone was a quiet and sharp man.  Joker gave the man the money needed with the understanding that in thirty days the man would give the Joker twenty grand back, however, after thirty one days the loan balloons to thirty grand with a five hundred dollar vig each week.

Corvo looked over his operation in deep thought. That small loan that he got from Joker at the International Brotherhood of Teamster union Loan office in Chicago somehow turned into a large operation out of one of his spare warehouses in LA. Now he was in charge of turning 240 kilos of opium to make two hundred kilos of medical grade cocaine. He had an army of formers cops, ex-miliary as his security for his operation which was needed as this was a high risk, high reward type of job. He had tons of enemies that were looking for ways to silence him.

He watched as the raw opium goes through the production process and the final product being made into the well-known substance the streets know as cocaine. Corvo had the perfect customer in mind for 200 kilos of cocaine. A terror group/militia run by a corrupt warlord that has a fondness for fast money, beautiful women and lots of illicit drugs. He had set up the meet a few weeks ago and now the warlord and his entourage was sitting in his office guarded/watched over by his security team.

He turned and headed back to his office and sat down at his desk facing his client.

"Mr.Abalah, good to meet you. I have here 200 kilos of medical grade cocaine ready to sell. I will give it to you at $1,200,000 for the batch. That is at a discount of $6000 per kilo. The average street price right now is $7000. You get a deal due to the volume. I expect the first $600,000 today and the rest on delivery. Do we have a deal?"

Mr.Abalah looked at Corvo and said, "Yes we do." He beckoned to his men to bring forth six cases with $100,000 each in them. "Here is that $600,000."

"Perfect, remember the last $600,000 on delivery or you won't like the consequences. Good day." Corvo said as his men escorted the group out.

He looked at his second in command and said, "Wire $35,000 to Joker with a note saying here is your $20,000 with something extra for the trust you gave me."

The second in command nodded and left.

Corvo leaned back in chair and lit a cigar. "Let's see if this guy keeps up his end of the bargain or there will be consequences."

Corvo was sitting in his office going over the monthly reports on the cocaine operation as well as his other ventures when the phone on his desk rang.

"Hello" he said as he picked it up.

"Boss, we have bad news" his second in command Domenic said.

"What is it? Spit it out!" Corvo responded.

"The delivery of the cocaine was delivered on schedule but Mr.Abalah has refused to pay the remainder of our fee." Domenic said.

"WHAT! THAT NO GOOD, TWO FACED WARLORD THINKS HE CAN GET AWAY WITH NOT PAYING ME WHAT WE AGREED ON!!" Corvo roared into the phone.

"Yes" Domenic replied calmly, well used to his boss's anger.

"This disrespect cannot be tolerated. Prepare two squadrons of men and reinforce security at all our operations. Find out how many men he has and what hardware. We need to know what we are getting into. I need to call Joker." Corvo replied.

"Understood" Dom said as he hung up.

Corvo hung up and called Joker in Chicago. "Hey Joker, we got a problem. Mr.Abalah has refused to pay the balance on delivery. How about you join us in teaching him a lesson on why disrespecting us like this is bad for his health?"

Joker was in his office when Whispers walked in and handed him the money from the loan that Joker gave to Mr. Corleone.   Joker looked at Whispers as Whisper told him it was thirty five grand, Joker shook his head and said that was a quick return.  That guy pays his debts, that's for sure.   Joker wished he could have bought into Corleone production racket but he understood why he couldn’t get in on it.

Two days later while in the Office the phone rang and it was Corvo-Corleone.  He was upset the first shipment was made and sold but the man skipped town without kicking up the rest of the money.  The product was given as Corleone gave the man his trust.  Joker asked what his plan was.  Corleone said he wanted to go collect but he needed the Joker's help.  Joker smiled and switched the phone receiver to his left ear and asked what type of help and what was in it for him.

Corleone explained that the guy has a few good hitters and his right hand which was more than likely with the product.  The man said he would pay the Joker a hundred grand, Joker declined he had money so killing wasn’t worth the risk of losing his own men and running the risk of offending the risk of getting involved with whomever this guy was working with.  The risk was higher than that reward and the Joker loved playing the odds when the gains were more in his favor.

Corleone asked what was he looking to get for the price of the help. Joker said a third of the racket if he was to provide protection and or collection duties.  Corleone offered ten and The Joker said no that was a nice offer but a bit low when he could also provide ready cash.  Corleone went up to fifteen and the Joker went down to twenty five.  Corleone said fifthteen and when his help is needed to protect or collect and some of his contacts and Judges when called on.  Joker agreed to the collection and protection and Judges for the operation when needed.  However he warned Corleone that the politicians will not want to have anything to do with the narcotics.  The Commission put a levy down that it can’t be sold to women or children and never near schools.

Joker wanted the name of who he was to see.  Corleone gave him one name Tommy Batts he was one of the hitters who loved fast women and drinking.  Joker returned to La with Doc, Nails and Freddie.  Corleone provided them with one of his guys, Sonny Barloney, Sonny knew the spots where Batts loved to socialize and have drinks. His favorite spot is where they went first and there he was.   Batts was sitting alone and the bar was closing.  Joker and his guys were outside smoking cigarettes and talking when Batts walked out,  Nails hit Batts on the back of his head with a flapjack and Whispers and Joker caught Batts before he hit the ground.  They took him to Corleone warehouse.  Corleone was there with a smile, they strung Batts up to a pole and Corleone men beat Batts for information.  Batts didn’t say shit Nails even worked on him and they still couldn’t get the man to talk.

Joker asked Sonny if he knows anyone that this guy hangs out with and Sonny gave them Batt’s girlfriends name.  Joker said let's go get her.  They went to her apartment, it was a run down tenement.  Joker and Sonny went in, Nail and Freddie stayed in the hallway.  She gave them the names of Batts pals and their addresses and Batt’s little black book.  To their surprise it was the names of the other two hitters.   They went to the next location. It was the home of Hans Mcgee. He was in his home sleeping when Freddie picked the lock and they all walked in.  McGee was a big tough guy and gave a damn good fist fight.

It took them ten minutes of tossling to get him down so they could question him.  Joker Liked Batts and now he had respect for McGee  also but after forty-five minutes of beating his unconscious and bringing him back they realized that McGee wasn’t giving them anything either.  It was now 6am and the sun was coming up.  So they stayed there until the sun sat.  McGee was tied to a chair with a gag in his mouth.

That night Joker began questioning him again but he failed and Joker not wanting to kill McGee but did it anyway.  Joker let McGee bleed out still tied to his chair and now unconscious they went to the next name.  This time they agreed to talk him to Corleone warehouse.  This was an easy snatch and grab Conner McDaniels was short and thin and they grabbed him as someone called him out by name as he started walking out of the building.  Nails asked him if he was Conner McDaniels and the man said yeah what's it to you then Sonny flashed his pistol and Freddie hit him with a flapjack and they carried him to the cars and drove off to the warehouse.

Joker said this guy better talk or they are out of luck.    Joker started questioning him and Conner said that the truck with the product was still in LA on queens and 10th street last he knew.  Corleone nodded and said he had a plan and would handle the rest.  Joker nodded and said it took four days to get a fucking address this was a lot of work but nothing like he expected.

Report Post Tip

Corvo-Corleone sat in his car watching the warehouse at queens and 10th street in LA where the truck with the rest of the drugs was stashed. One of men had gotten a job as a low level guard there last week and was slowly feeding him information on the rotation of guards, how much cash was stored and who was in charge. As he watched the warehouse, there was a surprise visitor. The top boss himself Mr.Abalah himself showed up with an additional 15 men to reinforce the warehouse.

Mr.Abalah was yelling at his men saying some guy from Chicago was taking out his lieutenants left and right and now is targeting him. Corvo smiled to himself. This guy had no idea who he was dealing with. He called Domenic who was stationed two blocks over. Dom bring 3 squads of men. This will be a tough fight. Get snipers on the rooftops and start picking off as many men as possible. The rest of us are going through the front. There is no back exit just a dead end alley. Dom replied done.

Corvo saw his men pull up down the street and head towards the entrance. Its time he though as headed to the truck of his vehicle where his personal armory was stored. He opened it and took out his Winchester Model 1894 and slug it on his back. His main weapon was his thompson machine gun and of course his two cold 1911s with extended magazines in his jacket holsters. He kept a bowie knife strapped behind his back for close combat.

His men started the assault by quietly taking out the two guards out front and his snipers got to work clearing the area outside the warehouse while his personal guards and himself heading towards the front entrance.

The fight into the warehouse was swift yet brutal. The guards never saw it coming. After what felt like hours but was only 20 min he men had cleared all resistance and cornered Mr.Abalah in the warehouse office by himself. The rest of his men were killed. Corvo directed a few men to take the truck that surprisingly wasn't damaged and some others to load the boxes of cash into the van and take both back to their warehouse to be counted.

Corvo walked into the office while his guards stayed outside. Mr.Abalah used his last bullet to fire at him and missed hitting the wall to the right of his head. The guards almost shot him in response before Corvo stopped them.

Mr.Abalah that wasn't very nice. You brought this onto yourself. I told you that I expected payment on delivery when we delivered the last of the drugs but you thought you could stiff me? Look where that brought you. Your whole operation destroyed in less than a week. All your men dead and I have recovered the drugs and all the cash in this warehouse. Now its time to teach you a lesson why you shouldn't ignore my warnings. He told two of men to tie Mr.Abalah to a chair which they did.

Corvo took out his brass knuckles and got to work beating him over and over again. After a while he took his knife and cut off all the fingers on both hands and finally took a baseball bat and broke both legs and arms multiple times. Covered in blood but satisfied, he handed the bat to Domenic who handed Corvo a cloth to wipe his face.

Take him down to the fish depot warehouse on the west side. Feed him to the fishes. He has outlived his usefulness. Dom nodded and took a few men with him.

Corvo told the rest of his men to torch the place once everything was cleaned out and headed back to warehouse.

He cleaned up and met with Joker in his office. It is done. Mr.Abalah is dead and his operation destroyed. As promised you get 15% of the collection and protection rackets with some of his contacts and Judges when called on. Joker nodded and shook Corvo's hand and left with Doc, Nails and Freddie to head back to Chicago. Its a pleasure doing business with you Corvo-Corleone he said as he walked out. Corvo-Corleone responded you as well as he lit a cigar and took a deep pull.
