What to do on a cloudy, rainy day. | Started by: nightrider on Nov 29, '11 20:52 |
My fellow mafioso, we have ourselves an epidemic about to hit our fair streets. No it is not the black plague or polio, but something far worse.
This disease I speak of is called boredom!
My friends, some of you might say such a disease does not exist. However, I can prove that such a disease exists, because I have contracted it this very morning! Now, many people might say, "nightrider, I saw you dealing hashish in the back alley last night, how are you bed-stricken today?"
I do not know how I got this disease either, but it might have something to do with the weather. See, I hail from Chicago. The Windy City.
I awoke in a cold shiver (it might have something to do with the rundown hut I'm staying at since Pharol hasn't cleared out a room for me in the HQ yet) and I looked out the cracks in the ceiling to see an overcast sky above me. I knew that this would be a day that I would have to message the post office clerk and let him know that he wouldn't be robbed today because I was staying in my bed.
I don't know what has come over me! I have heard that it is always sunny in Philadelphia, but my heart lies here in Chicago. This weather cannot force me to stay inside forever; I need to be out at the racetrack or slinging drugs in the alleys!
But since I must stay inside this hut for a few days, I must come up with something to do! I have already plotted some robberies and came up with some business plans to open a new speakeasy. Hmm, maybe staying inside isn't all that bad!
My fellow mafioso, I need more ideas before I die of this illness! Please help me out!

Buy an umbrella put away the sunblock and think happy thoughts. Should you find yourself on lock down for the boss the best way to deal with it is find yourself a good read, some good eats, and lots of your favorite booze.
You could always call in a favor to a friend and find yourself some company ... but that can get expensive and boring too after awhile.
What I like to do, find a coffee shop a bar or a good street corner and camp out there instead, but remember bring your umbrella for the rain. |

By tomorrow there should be quite a bit of snow. the wind is whipping down The Lake. Maybe snowshoeing will be the next order of business. or perhaps sledding or ice fishing |

Fingolfin, I'm afraid that if I start a fire in this hut I might not see tomorrow. Our boss needs to clean out his butterfly collection at the HQ so I have a room to stay in. However, the whiskey idea seems tempting, I just might have to crack open a nice lager. Maybe you can join me later tonight?
Jam, I actually might be in favor of some snow. Sure I like robbing liquor stores and hustling at cards, but sometimes I wish I could earn an honest living. Maybe a local tavern will hire me to clear off the snow in front of their business, so pretty boys like AnthonySalerno won't complain that their leather shoes got ruined. |

I'll have you know... I've been working on getting all those butterflies for longer than you've been in the Mafia! They're gentle creatures, so you have to be gentle when moving them around. Plus, your room will smell fantastic once they're out. |

Rathbone walks by and sees nightrider speaking with a few others.
If you're from the Windy City, then you may alredy know about The House That Bearderus Built Casino. That always keeps me entertained on a rainy day, plus you never know...it could be your lucky day. |

A lesser known, but equally as enjoyable custom in Chicago is junk kicking ThomasHarrow. I suggest you give this city past time a try before you leave the windy city! |

I've heard there may be a new peach hotspot called The Bearded Lady opening soon, if you're around for it. Very European.

Rathbone, I spent a few hours at the casino the other day and the roulette wheel was not very kind to me. Maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day.
Hawk, I feel that we should have a day dedicated to junk kicking/punching/dropkicking/karate chopping ThomasHarrow. I suggest maybe strapping him to a lightpole and putting him on display at noon tomorrow? |

I'm afraid, Sirs, that you cannot have Mr Harrow without my permission. |

I nominate nightrider as the man of the day. His incredible idea is most worthwhile |

or maybe we can tie ThomasHarrow to a tree, rip his shirt open and lather his chest with honey so the deers can get to him. (yes, a mobster can like the movie Heavyweights) |

I am feeling much better today. Pharol decided to throw a party last night at the HQ and it was definitely a good time. He even got rid of the butterfly collection for me!
Inferno, I hope you are back to stealing purses today. The streets wouldn't be the same without a bunch of hoodlums running around with purses; the ladies just don't understand that it is the newest fashion statement. But I would like to extend some appreciation towards you about your comments on family.
Sometimes when we feel like we might come down with the plague they call "boredom", the people that can cure it are oftentimes the members in our family. Whether it is a simple letter or a game of cards, family is always there to be with. |
