Just a couple forum feature additions when the new forums are created.


First off, a spoiler. Spoilers hide actual text behind them and when you click them, it un-hides the hidden text.

Example:

Spoiler (Click to View)


When clicked it would look like this if it were hiding the word "Mafia" behind it:

Spoiler {Click to Hide) <---- Notice the word view changed to hide
Mafia


(This feature is pretty common on plenty of forums)

What "Spoilers" would we come across here?

Those are used for when your talking about something and wanting people who wish not to know particular information can remain ingorant of those facts.

Usually something like this its talked about with books or movie reviews and is to not give away vital information about the ending or twists etc ...

What information do we need to hide with spoilers?

These spoilers could come into effect when RPing...

There are numerous things that "Spoilers" can be used for. Of course I can't list them all because it's almost impossible too.

Example:

When a person types a bunch of information, and then in that passage they have a part of it not being totally relevant to the entire thread, so they put it in a spoiler.

Not the best example but you get my point I hope...

I don't really see the point of this on MR. I get it can be great on other sites but as Murdoc said "What information do we need to hide with spoilers?". Also if they were RPing why would you have something irrelevant in your post? I have never seen a post in which even the littlest information has nothing to do with it.

So in short no I don't like this.

That was just an idea Gat. Spoilers could be used for numerous things. You can't pin point every way they could be used because it's 100s...

Only reason I could see this being added is for use in the OOC or Outside forums. There is no need for 'spoilers' in the streets where proper discussions or stories are told.

Making an RP interactive via. unfolding a note or opening a letter. A streets relevant example. Done.

you know, my thoughts on this are actually reasonably positive. my only suggestion would be make those tabs, hmm, customizable. so if i write someone a note, it says

{read note} or whatever i want it to say. that could be useable in the streets.

Another use for them in the streets would be to hide a line of OOC info, for example:

{Spoiler}

I won't be on for a few days, assume that my char has been knocked unconcious.

Now I know you could just mail it to whoever's involved, but if there are quite a few, that might be a bit time consuming. 

Yeah, right, cause you'd really want to advertise in the streets that you're going to be away for days >.>

Can't see the point in this. If there's a "note" then just write it in... seems like a pointless addition to have a little clickable button that makes it viewable or non-viewable.

If there are hundreds of things you can do with it... name 5. Please. Other than hiding text as well, since thats pretty useless here.

This sort of thing is used on forums where they discuss films, and dont want to ruin the story for those that haven't seen the film yet.
