The other day I was having a conversation with a fellow mobster and an interesting idea was brought up(by me).I basically said " we should be able to have duels with individuals, without the threat of war looming over our heads." I know this was something that was done in the .org days and I thought that if anything it would make this just a little more interesting. Anyway my question is: How do you think this would affect our game? Would it be negative or positive? Any thoughts? |

From what I remember of .org, it wasn't in the code that people would duel. people just would, then out it in their profile that they were dueling and let people know before hand. So its a choice for the users. Want to do it? I do not see many people stopping you. Just be aware that if your leader or their leader does not agree, it could lead to further reprisals. But at the end of the day, no one is stopping you dueling! |

Really? I thought it was encoded but I was wrong I guess. But I think that if you told your CL why your dueling(for a serious reason not just because he pickpocketed you or some other minor thing) then they wouldn't have a problem with it and every one's happy |

Pretty sure it wasn't "stopped" as such, just I guess people found other ways to resolve their issues. |

I remember duels from .org. I would duel all the time. I did it mostly for fun, we would set up dueling clubs. |

I remember a dueling tournament on .org where the CL's and others put money into a pot and the winner of the tournament (last man standing) took home the cash. If I remember right, the winner ended up dying in a war only a couple days later anyway. |

I think it shows the quality of a person when they'll willingly put a personal issue above the long-term well being of their crew and/or their city. The same would go if it would just be for shits and giggles as was said. Either way its a clear message to everyone involved and surely I'm not the only one who feels that way. |

I say as long as your CL, their CL and both the Duelists are ok with the Duel then there is no harm in Dueling. Now if you don't have permission from both CLs then your outta line. |

I agree with The King. As long as everyone knows that it is a personal duel and not an attack on that family or crew, then there is no problem. As for putting yourself over the interests of your Family, you are kind of correct. But it doesn't matter anyway, this kind of stuff would never be allowed. |

At some point in recent years, crew members began being regarded as property of the CL rather than autonomous human beings. It was at that time when things like duels and "authed shots" became unacceptable. It was way different back in the .org days. You could actually shoot a sponsored member of another crew with no more than the permission of the target (and usually something in their profile). |

It was never a coded feature of Mafia.org circa 2003/4. |

How did the fueling work? Was there some sort of 1 2 3 or was it just ok when you get this message we can start the shooting? |

In my humble opinion, people stopped dueling for the same reason they've more or less stopped rogueing. Too many bgs floating around, and too long of lifespans in general. It became too simple to say "of course I'd miss him, and he would hit me" or "of course neither of us would hit each other" or "of course whoever shoots first will win." What's the fun in dueling if there's no mystery about who lives and who dies? Not to mention, it's one thing to duel when you're talking about 10-40 days worth of work being on the line. It's another whole story when it's 50-200 days of work on the line. |

A lot of people would duel just to have a chance to increase their kill count, as well as some of the reasons mentioned above. Nowa days, we have MIA's, RIA's, NPC'S and CA's to kill. So dueling just to train/test your gun has really become obsolete. |

Last duel i remember was when Tyrion of NY duelled Dante_balboni from Chicago in the Deimne/iota era. Poor Dante never stood a chance! |
