An Intimidating Breakfast Started by: Mr_Intimidating on Apr 20, '24 06:31

In a quiet corner a short walk off the Streets stood a quaint little café. It was double fronted, with plate glass windows set within timber frames, which were slightly worn with the paintwork beginning to flake away. The name above the door said 'Goddess Tea House', written in gold leaf lettering. A little bell was set above the door, which jingled daintily when it was opened, letting the aroma of freshly baked pastries and cheerful chatter leak out.

Amidst this cozy atmosphere stood Mr_Intimidating, a man so terrifying that even his mere shadow sent shivers down spines like a 60 day old Wise Guy who hadn't completed a shot report in over a week. He approached the counter with the menace of a spider abseiling from a ceiling towards its prey, and the conversation in the room spluttered to a halt, his mammoth frame both drawing the eye and causing rapid looks in other directions in equal measure reminiscent of Honesty's joke hall of fame but without the pity or vicarious embarrassment.

The barista, a young woman with a nervous laughter plastered to her facs, felt a bead of sweat form on her brow as she met Mr_Intimidating's intense gaze. "I shall require…” Mr_Intimidating announced, his voice naturally carrying the room, “a cinnamon roll,” he finished with a raised eyebrow daring anyone to challenge his request. This man didn't want a cinnamon roll, he needed a cinnamon roll and everyone, from the barista quivering at the counter to Mrs Norris in the front window clutching her coffee cup so tightly it was searing into her palms, knew it.

The barista, trembling ever so slightly, hastily grabbed a cinnamon roll from the display case before fumbling it into a pile of pastries. She let out a terrified squeak and began stammering an apology, trying to fish it back out, smearing chocolate across the glass in her rush not to disappoint Mr_Intimidating. She glanced frantically at her colleagues, who exchanged bewildered looks, silently questioning the absurdity of the situation unfolding before them and praying they weren't going to die in this dumb cafe with stupid old Mrs Norris stinking of piss as the last thing they ever smelt.

Mr_Intimidating, oblivious to the chaos he had caused, stood firm, his presence dominating the counter like PhillipMarleau in the cereal aisle, brooding silently. As the barista finally handed him the cinnamon roll, she let out a chuckle of equal parts fear and relief. With a nod of gratitude, Mr_Intimidating accepted the cinnamon roll and glanced down at her name badge. "Thanks, Jill", he said putting a couple of bucks on the counter, causing her to flinch violently. Her name was actually Sarah but in that moment she was Jill down to her core and Jill hesitantly forced a hand forward to take the money.

With that he made his exit, leaving behind a café in disarray and a group of bewildered patrons in his wake. He took a bite of the cinnamon roll and pondered his next move. Lunch, probably.
