My lovely girlfriend wants to go to this masquerade ball for New Years Eve this year. I've never been to one. What are they like? Has anyone ever been to one? Good times? Bad times?

Its only fun if you go with the intention of enjoying it. If you get caught up on other peoples experience then you'll never know your own thoughts. Forget anything you hear about it and decide afterwards for yourself whether it was fun or not.

Just my two cents. Never been to one either, but I think the idea is interesting and wouldn't knock it back if I got the opportunity to attend one with the wife.
