| My 4yo dog just died of pneumonia | Started by: Brother on May 14, '24 22:06 |

My life has been on a downward spiral for a while now. I lost my career during my divorce, I just couldn't handle the mental and emotional strain. That was roughly 3 years ago. Two years ago my older dog died at 13 losing her was really hard but I had my young dog still and he helped me get through the divorce and the loss of my other dog. He got really sick from pneumonia. He was always a super healthy dog, this was his first time getting injured or having an illness of any kind. I think he only ever even had a single tick or two throughout his life. I did everything with him. I brought him everywhere I went and he loved it. He loved people. We would walk ever day through a park near my house and he had made many great friendships with people of all ages, most knew him by name and could call him over and he'd happily go get their affection. He died on the 13th and I'm struggling immensely with it. I just wanted to write out how I felt about it somewhere just to vent. I needed to get it off my chest and just let it go. He was such a wonderful spirit and did not deserve to die so young. He was hospitalized for 5 days before his body couldn't take it anymore. He will always be apart of me and I will forever miss him. If there is an afterlife I know for certain I will see him there. I'm sorry if this is hard for anyone to read, I hope it isn't, but I know it likely reminds you of someone special you may have lost and for that I'm deeply sorry. I just really needed to say a few things. Blue was a 4 year old Great Pyrenees, 100 Ibs of pure love. He never met a person he didn't think was his life long best friend. I got to share him with hundreds of people throughout his life and while his life was short he lived very brightly. He has allowed me to grow as a person in ways I didn't think possible and it has been the single most painful event of my life losing him. I will truly always remember and love Blue. |

Keep your head up brother and focus on the positive. Know that it is not your fault, and that after the rain there is always sunshine. We can't change what has happened but we can change our outlook towards the future! |

My heart aches for you, truly. Blue sounded like a magnificent companion, full of love and joy. Remember the light he brought into your life and let it guide you through the darkness. If there is indeed an afterlife, I'm certain he awaits you with open paws <3 Once again, my deepest condolences. |

I'm so sorry, lost a 10 year old dog a few months ago to cancer, without all of the shit you have been through it was hard. Not much anyone can say to help.... just keep busy, exercise and eat well it will come good at some point down the line. |
