Uncle Joe and the missing HQ keys Started by: Joseph_Ligambi on May 18, '24 03:55

It had been a few days since Uncle Joe had finished setting up his HQ in Salumeria Biellese with his Underboss, KennyRusso and Consiglieri Calogero_Vizzini. They had gotten everything squared away just how Joe wanted and were all eager to be back in action together after so many years. When Uncle Joe went to return to Salumeria Biellese he couldn't find his keys. He rummaged through his pants pockets and overcoat vigorously. Uncle Joe was older now and his memory failed him from time to time, his heavy marijuana use didn't help things. He found himself standing there locked out of his HQ wondering where he had misplaced his keys. He thought about how he had ended that night with Kenny and Calogero and retraced his steps in his mind. It was unlike Joe to misplace things. He thought about how he had visited his friend, Spike the day after setting up shop. Uncle Joe had spent the day with his friend drinking and laughing, reminiscing about how Spike had tricked Joe into getting his initials tattooed on his posterior during a wild night of partying many years ago. After Joe and Spike parted ways he made his way over to the local pork store in Brooklyn where he loved to sample the various offerings. Full, Uncle Joe headed home where he would remain the coming days. Cut to the present standing there in front of Salumeria Biellese, it finally dawned on Joe what he had done with the keys. He had given his only key to Calogero to make a copy for Kenny and himself. As it turned out Calogero was never able to make the copies as he had to go on the lamb over some heat he gained with a couple local FIB agents. With Calogero missing in action, Uncle Joe had no way of knowing where his HQ keys were or if Calogero had fled with them. Joe was locked out with no idea when he would see Calogero again. Uncle Joe and KennyRusso would have to wait until they heard from their partner Calogero or until he decided it was safe to show his face in the neighborhood again. Furious and embarrassed, Uncle Joe made his way back to DangerCloses HQ where he would look to hang out and get high, whilst waiting for the return of Calogero.

It's alright Joseph_Ligambi. Don't fret. People make mistakes, and there are always second chances to remedy them... Maybe not always, but in this case, there's nothing permanent. Hush sweet wrinkly child.

I guess the main lesson of this story is that even great leaders, especially older leaders, tend to shit their pants sometimes, and you're one of them, joining the ranks of all the greats. We will get you diapers so that you won't soil the red carpets in your future.

Hearing his close friend Spike's sweet words made feeble old Uncle Joe feel slightly better. He got confused sometimes, not everything was as crystal clear as it used to be, including his underwear. Joe had received word that from Calogero that he in fact did not have the keys to the HQ but rather he left them in Salumeria Biellese when Uncle Joe closed up shop for the night. That meant that Uncle Joe had locked himself out. The local locksmith would take some time to recreate such a delicate key. Uncle Joe would have to wait until the new key was finished before he could reenter his HQ. He had been passing the days rambling on in the streets like a crazy old man.

The Godmother of Queens patted Uncle Joe on the back.

"I can relate.  Sinner misplaced my keys one night after an all night party of booze and drugs.  I found them a couple of months later and now we are the queen jewel of New York.  This setback will only help us to bring these dull streets back to life.  You will see.  We New Yorkers will always stick together come hell or high water."

Uncle Joe felt better from the display of compassion and unity Godmother Teyla showed him. A lot had changed during Joe's time away and he was glad to still see people who didn't judge but rather understood shit happens. Uncle Joe was old and had indeed shared in much shit happening. He had been involved in many unfortunate shit shows over the years, but weathered them all none the less, and this was but another.

Joe was sure he would be up and running again in no time, he bounced back regularly and for good reason. He was proven, despite what some may think. He had accomplished many great things in his long career as a mafioso and would continue to do so.

Uncle Joe thanked Teyla for her kind and reinvigorating words. Joe had been a longtime supporter of her esteemed bloodline as she too had been through some shit. The two had even waded through it together.
