The man walks down the sidewalk pondering life's events and his plans for himself in the future of the Mafia life he is about to lead. Then suddenly, beneath his feel he hears a squich and slips with his right foot and almost stumbled to the ground. Once he regains balance he grabs the mailbox in front of him and looks at the bottom of his shoe 'Oh for fuck's sake, why don't people clean up after their fucking animals' He screams as he wipes the extra off on the curb ' That really busts my bubble, and you know what else busts my bubble? Senseless street activity. Now I know there is currently a High demand of street presence and activity, but can we as Literate mafioso come up with stuff better than, "OMG I peed my Pants" and getting a larger crowd than those who actually put effort into there statements and speeches. I know times change, but is there not anything more to come up with than the crap we have recently? Lack of subjects you say? I don't think that's the issue, for in the coffee shops there are continuing interesting conversations that can be held in the streets, there are also numberous complaints and remarks which make me think to myself, If you can't openly state your displeasures who will they be heard or even have a chance to be looked over for possibly improvements. If it doesn't change at least you get an idea and some knowledge that may put you at ease with the issue at hand, whatever that may be. ' Takes a large inhale of his freshly lit cigar ' Now I know the coffee shops have been debated before, nothing will change about that. They've always and will always be around. Just continue with business as normal, if you disagree with coffee shops then even more of a reason for you to be vocal in the streets with subject's at least worth reading with all your free time. Since everyone thinks there isn't enough to be vocal about in the streets, from here on out, every day I will find something interesting in the streets to be heard. I encourage others to do the same, those such as Sprozza, Flyingpig, Tita, Sal_Giaquinto, just to name a few, all earned the name and fame through street presence and actions. Not because of Coffee Shops. These are strictly my opinion and my opinion only. I just feel there could me more made of the streets then the current status they are in. If you put someone in a black and white room for long enough they lose the ability to see color. The streets like everything ebbs and flows it has it's down times where Mafioso's are quiet and hard at work, where controversy and outrage is the name of the game and everyone is screaming wildly. I have heard many tears over the past few days over the life of the streets and how they are a disgrace. I know you have been conditioned by hordes of hate spewing no marks in the coffee shops. That no matter what the state of things, be it good or bad, they are bad, and CP are to blame. My ancestors told me great stories of hundreds of speeches going on all the time, at the same time throughout the history of our world things have gone through quiet times. Many much much quieter than now. I look at the streets now and I see tremendous improvement from how things were, a month ago, 3 months ago even. Open your eyes and take a look around, just because you don't like what people are saying doesn't mean you are surrounded by silence. If you are too ignorant to notice that people are making an effort, then you have no place here. I implore you to look at the number of speeches made. I implore you to visit the business districts in many of the cities and you will find them busier than they have been since the times of Anita and Scotland. There will always be things to cry over if you look hard enough. I wonder if you even looked at the streets before saying what you have said here. Or was this an old speech you had lying around and felt the need for a bit of public speaking? Either way, I am happy with the progress the streets are making. I encourage everyone to be more active in them. Remember tears are reserved for coffee shops, join the likes of BillyTheTankBathtub in divinelunacy if you wish to bitch. We are above such things. |

I'm sorry sir, but all I'm doing is stating an opinion. Would be nice to hear constructive speeches, I'm not saying all of them are horrible, neither am I whining. Was simply trying to encourage those who don't speak, the title was to draw attention to get viewers such as people have recently. No reason to get defensive and attack me. I apologize if it came off wrong, it was intended for the better not too cause drama. In no way was that implied. For once CP wasn't mentioned in a thread, yet it was an automatic response that I was blaming them. All I'm saying is there can me more interesting speeches, and I'll be placing an effort to do just that. That is all. ~Grumpy |

You are correct sir, I do here that complaint a lot, although thankfully I don't allow myself to be influenced by conversations that don't directly involve myself. I wasn't trying to imply it was an issue with leadership by any means. I hope it doesn't seem that way. |

Actually I think grumpy has a very good and valid point. The streets maybe active, but just with the wrong kind of activity. I see this almost everyday, and willing to admit I have played a role in it. The streets are here to conduct business. (not in the way of bars or loan offices) but the bussiness of running "Cosa Nostra". In my eyes I see alot of bussiness that needs to be done. That is not up to me and belongs in another rant all together. Now I have always enjoyed the occatonal street party, marrage, or radio show. But lately I have seen alot of ... well... bull shit. Like take for instance the whole dating service thing. I merely started my whole rant just to show everyone how much of an ass they are making themselfs out to be, by acting like the biggest one of them all. All that kind of rubbish belongs in the bars if you ask me. I think what is causing all this is that people feel they have no choise but too be seen, in order to get high in the ranks. Some don't know how to handle this so they say or do whatever they feel is right to them, even if it isn't what the streets are meant for. You can't blame someone for trying to be notice, if being notice is what is being required of them. |

I was actually thinking of making a similar point not too long ago, but found it to be counter-productive. However, since the conversation has already been started... I personally prefer quality over quantity, however nice it may be to see the streets so active. But maybe it's better this way. Perhaps people need to first build up the confidence to actually speak on the streets before they're able to develop speeches of great quality. |

This place never changes, we have seen a large increase in street activity over the past few weeks. Some very good and thought out (The day in the life series) and others that just plain suck (come shoot me or I will retire) and every thing in between from radio shows, newspapers and the leaders of the cities informing the masses. And now we have rants again abount quality over quantity. I for one is long away from any english studies and I grow in these parts by watching and reading what other say. If you don't like the quality then please show us a good original piece that every one here will enjoy. |

| Well it was brought up for the sole purpose to encourage those to come out and put effort into their work. That granted we do want quantity, but put some effort and not make a clueless post. Although I must admit, in a way it is our faults for responding so quickly and in quantity too those posts that could have definitely used some more work. I love the quantity don't get me wrong, it's just the quantity of threads that were just thrown out there. It's nice to view everyone's opinion on the matter though. | |

I have a question for the barrow. Why are all your posts lately just one line? Surely that is not very productive to create an active street. Just an observation. I also think that more street threads, fun ones, instead of bitching ones, would bring more people out. I don't think bitching helps anything, neither does blaming people for random acts. I myself find it easier to write in the streets, as there I can state my ideas without a gagillion people trying to shout over me, as is sometimes the case in the coffeeshops, especially when there is a huge event that has happened. |

Well, I personally enjoy the "Day in the Life" stories. (Especially _Rhuarc_'s). So, more writing like that, maybe like drive-by every now and then. You-know, like how the streets would be if this was 1930's mafia. I'm pretty sure mafiosos weren't talking about "How to Marry a Goomba" and stuff like that.
