Do We Need a New Leader of the Streets?

It seems like an eternity since the Streets had a leader with the wherewithal to come out onto the Streets and discuss being the Leader of the Streets.  How can the Streets be led without a Leader?  And how can a Leader Lead without being on the Streets?

I don't think the Streets can be led without a Leader, and a Leader can't lead the Streets without being on the Streets.

I'm open to debating these salient points, but I think it's probably best for all of us is we accept the following:

There is no Leader of the Streets at the moment

There is no Leader of the Streets on the Streets (at the moment)

It's been some time since there was a Leader of the Streets

It's been some time since there was a Leader of the Streets on the Streets

It's hard to really challenge any of those assertions.  I think they're self-evident.  There was one fellow who really tried hard to give speeches on the Streets, but the only Leading he did was Leading tears out of the eyes of those who were watching him fail, fail, and fail again.  

Which brings me back to this question:

Do we *need* a Leader of the Streets? 

Perhaps the times of a singular Leader of the Streets is no longer necessary and we need to look to a more communal option. It's no surprise that Street Competitions were flourishing under the heavy-handed guidance of the Competition Commission. Much of the Competition Commission's success can be attributed to the NUMEROUS workers behind the scenes, reaching out to each and every competition host to make sure they were following proper protocol. 

At the height of it's power the Competition Commission was said to have employed THOUSANDS of agents spread out across the entire nation and they ONLY managed Street Competition. What you're asking for is a singular person to manage the entire Streets? It doesn't seem possible.

These Streets move TOO FAST for any one person to oversee everything. 

I think a better question might be, can ONE INDIVIDUAL person BE the Leader of the Streets that WE need?   

An interesting thought, Ginger.  But the Competition Commission degenerated into bloody warfare.  Do we want that?  It was like a single day in a Lincoln_Lawyer sponsored Writing Competition for a while.

I think a single person, invariably a Kuku, have managed to successfully run the Streets.  In one sense, yes, they did it on their own.  On the other hand, they had the support and love of almost the entire community.

We are seeing the tragic sight of crew leaders being ignored on the streets.  Is this what we want?  It might be warranted, it might be the natural order of things, it might be amusing, but is it what we want?

I don't really want the job of Leader of the Streets.  Heaven knows I have enough to do, but just now, it seems there isn't anyone leading, and that upsets me.  

So, what do we do here?  Should we have an election?  I think to deter time-wasters we should have a non-refundable deposit of around $100m for other candidates.

I like the idea of fair and free elections. However, I like Ginger fear that one person alone can not handle the strain and power that leader of the streets brings.

As you are no doubt aware Ronnie not all of us are born with the unique set of skills that a held by a Kuku. Perhaps we can arrange an election for a street commission. I postulate that without the competitive nature that was core to the competition commission bloodshed can be prevented. I propose that you reduce the $100m deposit or propose an alternative. The people look forward to your response and detailed proposal. Make a logical, fair and earnest proposal and I will do what I can to aid your endeavours.
