Helllllo everyone,

Sorry for the delay between events, i've been trying to come up with something new that is fun, fair and gives everyone a chance to play. Sometimes it takes a little time. Well since Kittie decided to take my place and run a gameplay event (<3 Kittie) I figured why not take her place and do a streets/writing/rp event outa spite!

So with all that said let me introduce you to the premise of "A Midsummer Night's Dream"

Over the period of the next 3 weeks there will be between 3 to 5 writing prompts based on classical lit pieces. Your goal as a participant whether working alone or together is to come up with story(ies) that encapsulate the original soul of the classical piece but set in our current Mafia world (using current characters, players, situations and happenings) as the backdrop. Each participant will be judged based on their own contributions to any story in the event they participate on. Bonus points may be awarded for successful collabs with other writers where you do not disturb their theme or flow.  

The actual scoring scheme will come in the next 48 hours so please do not post anything until you have had a look but please feel free to start plotting ideas out for your first theme "A Midsummer Night's Dream"

Finally as always, ANY participation no matter how little will net you a reward so please play even if you have negative confidence in your own abilities. As always there will be some bonuses for skill but the main measure is EFFORT. You may be the worst writter but if you put in the most work you will come away with huge prizes.

The scoring system finally:

My version:

Base Score: 50
Length Penalty: -1 for every 5 words under 250
Length Bonus +1 for every 10 over 250 (max +20)
Grammar/Spelling: -1 per mistake
Judge Bonus: 3 judges each can award between 0 and +10 points (each judge)
Mafia theme: up to -20 if the mafia theming is unclear
Classic lit theme: up to -20 if the classical lits theme is unclear
Collab score: between -10 and +10 depending on the quality of your work in the flow of the collabed 

the judges will be 3 (or more) random other staff members more than likely, but who will not be revealed. (if more then 3 judges are used you will get the combined total of the 3 highest scores given) 

I will myself be judging the collab scores.

Each score is on a per post system. Meaning if you make 5 threads and 20 replies you will have 25 total scores.

I also asked someone else to write another version of this in hopes that if there is any confusion reading both versions together will clear it up. 

Submissions will be graded on the following criteria:

• Starting Score: All submissions will start with 50 points.
• Length Penalty: -1 point for every 5 words under 250 words.
• Length Bonus: +1 point for every 10 words over 250 words, with a maximum of 20 bonus points.
• Grammar/Spelling Penalty: -1 point per grammar or spelling mistake.
• Theming Penalty: Up to -20 points if the story’s 1920s to 1950s mafia theme is unclear or historically inaccurate.
• Style Penalty: Up to -20 points if the story lacks a "classic literature" style regarding the theme of the classical literature prompt.
• Three independent judges will award between +0 and +10 points based on their enjoyment and satisfaction of the story.
• Collaborating with other stories can earn you between +10 and -10 points depending on how you hold to the theme of the original story. Replies to your own story will not be considered. Deviations from the original plot that derail will be heavily penalized.
• You can earn points on collaborations only, and must not necessarily create your own story.
  
  
  
  
  
  Help me understand how the collab points will be awarded:

Here is a senario:

You User X post a thread about M&M's
you make 2 replies to yourself furthering your M&M plot point - this nets you 0 collab points because you are talking to yourself

User K comes into your post and makes a reply exclusively about chicken - This will be a heavy negative because it has none of the points to do with M&Ms but will not be a full -10 because it is atleast still food. Likelt a -8 or -9 though

You choose to reply and continue the story one of a few things could happen:

You (User X or any other user that is not K) choose to outright ignore the chicken - This will be more than likely in the -2 - +2 range because you are fufilling the original plot lines and story but you are outright rejecting a collab effort so you will get both positives and negatives that will mostly cancel out.

You (Any user that isnt user K) decide to roll with it and work the chicken into the original story -  This will be big pluses. You may have had 0 intent for the chicken and may dislike it but working the chicken into the original plot line is a big + for collab points.

You (any user but k) get upset by the chickens and lose sight of your story going ona  rant about how they are out of place or making your original story now only about chicken - Major negative points.
