I'm going to try a little experiment. I will be giving a reward to any new auth who has an auth thread posted by their previous crewleader (or whomever authed them) informing the site of the new upcoming auth *before* they go bold. The effort put in will dictate the reward. It seems like we have slowly backed away from what I felt was a good tradition. It's served multiple purposes, from bridging the gap from the ivory towers to the working stiffs, to lending some authority to the new CL being authed and not rogue; all the way to sending a message of "I felt this person was worthy of public acknowledgement and you'll soon see why". To claim, send a message to Squishy like this: ---------- To: Squishy subject:new crew I have just set up. I was authed by xxx to set up in xxx and here is their url xxxxxxx ----------- I look forward to the results. Thanks! |

Making auth threads required and locked by the CL pretty much put the nail in this coffin imo. Seeing double threads for every auth might get to be a bit much but hopefully we see some gems. |

The tradition has fallen by the wayside. I thought of this with a recent auth that did not last long. Down at the non-elite coffee shop we pegged that auth as the most obvious of all their placeholders. They were well over a year old, and it was evident guidance was needed and I even offered to help with the basics via mail. The response was odd to say the least. Me being who I am I felt sad for them. Anyhow their time expired viciously so the same old wash, rinse and repeat can be placed there. Maybe it is time to hold off being so generous and take a minute to take a deeper look at the toxicity. A few have been DD's for less than what is going on now. An entire city was wiped out the other day because they were busy working while having fun with the 24-hour rat race. They were not authed all that long either. I know you have an ear for ideas when it comes to change. And recently some great changes were made. Thanks. |
