The Ligambi Whiskey Started by: Gianni_Ligambi on Sep 01, '24 15:10

Gianni was no stranger to the life of crime. His bloodline traced back to multiple prominent figures in La Cosa Nostra. Being the younger brother of Joseph_Ligambi, He knew that this life could be tough at times and one of his many vices to combat the toll this lifestyle had taken upon him was a good stiff drink. Gianni knew whiskey very well, he was not like many other individuals looking to mix fruity cocktails with umbrellas and fairy dumb shit like that. No, he felt like that drinking those little fruity drinks were best left to the house wives, no member of La Cosa Nostra should indulge himself in a drink that has a fucking umbrella sticking out of it. “Keep it simple” is what my Father always said. “Simple works”.

He had not been in Michigan very long, but the time he had spent there, he wandered aimlessly down around the infamous downtown Motor City business district, trying to find a place that kept it simple and did not try to go over the top with all these fruity drink combinations. What he found out was that everyone was selling out, nobody wants to stick to the old school. Everyone is looking for something new to bring in more business. Gianni couldn't, wouldn't and absolutely did not give a fuck about that, he knew what he had to do.

He made arrangements to buy a corner property that was under foreclosure right off the strip in downtown Detroit, which sits smack dab in the middle of Wayne County. It was here where he would start his work. Over time the place came together quite nicely, great atmosphere, not too simplistic, but just comfortable enough to not care about anything else. A place where you can come, relax and have a nice stiff drink while you get away from your everyday life for a while.

Sandy finds herself particularly stressed after a long day of work. She'd been hustling and bustling, robbed the post office a few times, sold a shedload of drugs and even cased the art gallery. It had been a rather hectic day.

"Perhaps a nice drink, to unwind." She thought.

"But where could I find somewhere serving my favourite, Grapefruit Negroni with a big umbrella. Or maybe a Bahama Mama."

Right on the corner of town, Sandy spots a new establishment - looking the dogs bollocks! She ventures in to take a look.

Every eye in the place turns to stare at her as she walked in. She knew she would not be getting one of her favourite cocktails in this bar. Sandy brushed off the onlookers glares and headed straight up to the bar.

"I guess I'll take a double of your finest whiskey please, Mr.Ligambi."

Gianni_Ligambi looked her up and down, quickly and firmly replying to her,

"We don't serve squirrels, fuck off."

Hirostev heard about a new bar that recently opened up where they advertised a wide selection of good ole' fashioned whiskey.

Hirostev sits down and the bartender asks, "What'll it be for you?"

"Make it a double and keep the bottle nearby," Hirostev said. "It's been quite a day".

The bartender pours the double and keeps the bottle nearby.

Angelo was stressed after a long week of smuggling drugs up from Columbia into Detroit and weapons into Canada. He needed a drink. He heard that there was a new bar that opened up called The Ligambi Whiskey that served the best whisky. He headed there for a drink with his crew.

He walked in and said to the bartender, "Give me a double of your finest Canadian whisky". When he got it, he paid and went to sit in the corner booth with his crew to discuss business.

Chuck Bass had seen his fair share of business dealings, but Detroit felt different. The city's gritty underbelly seemed to ooze through the cracked pavement, seeping into every interaction, every handshake. His day had been filled with danger and uncertainty, negotiations that could turn on a dime, rivals lurking in every shadow. As the sun dipped low, he sought solace, a drink strong enough to wash the taste of tension from his mouth. He knew exactly where he was headed: a place that had caught his attention earlier, a corner property right off the strip. Gianni Ligambi's bar.

The place was tucked away on a quiet block in downtown Detroit, far enough from the noise to feel like an escape, but close enough to be convenient. The atmosphere inside was just what Chuck needed, subtle yet refined. The dim lighting cast long shadows, and the wooden floors creaked underfoot, but it wasn’t the sort of place that demanded attention. It was simple, yet perfect. A space where the chaos of the outside world seemed distant, replaced by the smooth hum of conversation and the clink of glasses. A place to lose yourself for a while. Chuck found a seat at the bar, his mind still buzzing from the day, but the familiarity of the space soothed him.

Gianni, the man behind the establishment, slid a glass of whiskey across the counter. His eyes were sharp, but there was a warmth to his demeanor, a contrast to the cold streets of Detroit. "You look like you need that," Gianni said, his voice low, almost knowing. Chuck picked up the glass, the amber liquid catching the light as he took a slow sip. It burned just the way it should…. smooth, but with a kick. As the tension from the day melted away with each swallow, Chuck realized that in this world, where power and danger intersected at every turn, finding a place like this is a quiet refuge and a rare luxury. Here, for just a moment, Chuck could breathe.

Carlo stepped into The Ligambi Whiskey, taking a slow look around the place. It had a certain charm, no frills, no gimmicks, just good whiskey and the kind of atmosphere that spoke to men who appreciated the simple things. The kind of place his old man would approve of.

Sliding into a seat at the bar, he gave a nod to the bartender. "Whiskey. Neat," he said, his voice steady, eyes scanning the room. "Heard this place doesn’t mess around with the fruity bullshit."

The bartender smirked knowingly and poured him a glass, Carlo lifted the glass, took a slow sip, and let a satisfied grin cross his face.

"Yeah," he muttered to himself. "This’ll do just fine."

The streets of downtown Detroit were still alive, even as the sun dipped below the skyline, casting long shadows over Wayne County’s business district. Tony Soprano had been handling business all day, and now? Now, it was time for a drink.

He stepped out of his black Packard, straightening his coat before pushing open the heavy wooden door of The Ligambi Whiskey. The scent of aged oak, cigar smoke, and good liquor filled the air, a welcome change from the grime of the city outside.

The place was exactly what it should be—no frills, no gimmicks, no bullshit. Just a proper whiskey joint. No fruity cocktails, no little umbrellas, no half-assed bartenders trying to impress you with some flashy nonsense. This was a bar for men who wanted their drinks straight, just like their business.

Tony made his way to the mahogany counter, nodding at the bartender.

"Whiskey. Neat."

The bartender—a guy who knew better than to make small talk unless asked—poured a healthy glass of dark amber liquid and slid it across the bar.

Tony picked it up, swirling it slightly, watching the way the light caught the liquid. He took a slow sip, letting the burn settle in his chest before exhaling. This was the kind of drink that reminded you that life, for all its chaos, had its simple pleasures.

For a while, he just sat there, nursing his drink, listening to the quiet hum of conversation around him. A few wiseguys were in the corner, talking business in hushed tones, but Tony wasn’t here for that. Not tonight.

Tonight, he just wanted to enjoy a drink.

And at The Ligambi Whiskey, a place built for men who understood the value of keeping it simple, that was exactly what he got.
