A Financial Crisis Started by: cara on Sep 13, '24 16:53

"You... must be Cara. Hello! My name is Miss Mondeyo, the office manager here," the nice lady standing in front of Cara informed her. "Please, do come in."

Cara felt tickled by her warm, glowing smile. She felt safe and accepted here, unlike other trial shifts where she felt intimidated and uncomfortable. The lady pointed her freshly painted fingernail at the chair in front of her desk. Cara nodded quickly as she slid into the chair. She fixed her posture, her knees slightly shaking as she was nervous and didn't want to make a bad impression.

The office was small, dominated by a single desk and chairs on both sides. Miss Mondeyo sat at her chair and readjusted her glasses while she looked over Cara's resume. She looked up, her hands closed together.

Having already done the introductions at the interview, Miss Mondeyo dived right into it.

"So, Cara. The job will entail a lot of paperwork. I am busy all year round as we manage a lot of clients' financials. As you know, accounting clerks are in high demand, especially in these times where a lot of companies are facing financial scrutiny."

And this was no secret.

Luckily, her parents pushed- well, more like encouraged her to follow the accounting pathway. She was grateful she took her parents' advice, as the industry became relatively stable despite the current economic crisis.

"Right, of course. Like you said, many companies are in deep and also have needed to restructure their operations. I can definitely assist, wherever I am needed." Cara affirmed.

The one thing that Cara never prepared herself for though, was having to forget about a normal life in this job. These clients were not just anyone, they were high-profile families... rich gangster mobs looking to maximize their profits - not letting anyone get in their way.

In hindsight, Cara was just grateful to land a position as she was barely scraping by with the restaurant wages and disgusting canned food.

She shook hands with Miss Mondeyo and started getting to work on her first day...
