Yes I throw poo at people, but this is a more serious topic. My issue is with those that switch families when their crew leader dies. Many a times I have witnessed members of waring families switch to another family once their leader dies. This is the Mafia, La Cosa Nostra. Please tell me what gives someone the right to switch from one family to another? The way my ancestors taught me was that if you are in a family you die fighting for THAT family. You do not go and run to someone else's family hoping they will open their arms to you. You took an oath. You pledged your allegiance to a family. Yet once trouble comes you leave. What kind of mafioso/a are you? |

I have seen members join the family that just slaughtered their own.. Its a decision they make.. yes they live..is it dishonorable? I believe it is yes. We all leave a legacy - it follows us and tells a story of who we are and the decisions we make..right or wrong. |

Coughs.. Sorry about that.. When you believe in something - sometimes you do what you must...right or wrong. We have all made bad decisions during our career as criminals.. right?? Hell yeah! and we have all got murdered for them, etc etc :) Does it have to be done sometimes? maybe.. should it be? not really |

In a perfect world, what should happen is that if your crew leader tragically passes, the war should still be fought by the remaining members. If you happen to win the war, the one with the highest rank and experience should take over there reigns of the HQ. You proceed from there. Yes it is easy to jump ship and join someone else, but it just isn't right. You should always remain loyal to the one that gave you a home in the first place. Giving them everything you have in return. A true mafioso would do this, no questions asked. |

Or you could do it the smart way. Join up with a new leader, play it smart, play it cool. Then when things have settled down, strike. But if you want to die like a moron, cool, cool. |

As is hammered into us by the powers that be, you're not family until you're made. You can't have your cake and eat it. Beyond made man, you have an arguement, and I personally would never be able to trust a made man that didn't stand by their family, but people like me (at the time) a wee Goomba that had no gun capable of fighting? All dying for the cause would have done is given someone else a training shot and wasted 2 days of my time. |

i can understand both views.. i personally agree with what Chris and i think Rick has made a valid point that i strongly agree with. What honour is held if you let yourself get slaughtered like an animal for your family.. Wouldnt that be some-what disgraceful, fighting with no gun power and practically painting a red target on your face, screaming honour until someone comes and shoots you down? If you are a made man(/woman), with the experience and power to do least some damage to your enemy and make your family proud then yes. i agree, shame on your name and i fully cheer on Hoody to throw poo your way. These are my views at the present moment.&. may change... |

Rick_with_a_silent_P, every member of a family can help out in a war. I know for a fact that you were used by your family (or at least asked to help out_ during the war. And I doubt that _Rhuarc_ ever once told you that you were not a part of his family. As for two days wasted, cry me a river. |

Theoretically after the leader goes down, the members should still fight, right? But when someone of rank sets up to house the homeless and continue the fight, they are automatically seen as "rogue" and then all of the "netural" families come in to finish them off. So that seems to suggest once the main leader is gone, there is no more family. You can choose to die unsponsored, or relocate out of town to offer your services to a family that wasn't involved with the war. From there you can plot your revenge, or turn over a new leaf. Sometimes, if a family's beef was only with the leader, they might try to take over the former leader's crews and tell them that they now work for them. Now, is this called living on your knees, or did you boss really make a dumb assed mistake and deserved to be wacked? I remember when the leader who gave me my rank decided to retire, he gave us the option to leave, or to join him in some fun before retiring. The fun consisted of killing a leader in another city for no apparent reason. And suppose if your leader dies a different tragic death (e.g. struck down by the gods)? Who would your fight be with then? If there is no honor in your boss's actions, which is part of our code as members of Cosa Nostra (no "La" necessary except if you are a cop or someone of that nature), do you (and would you) still follow him to the death? I thought I would throw that question out there. |

There has always been a fine line between how authentic you can keep a game. For instance, in the real Italian mafia if you killed a don you could never become a don. So, how could that make logical game sense? It doesn't. So in game there is only so much you can do to be as authentic to real life mafia. Deciding to join a family after you boss dies doesn't make any sense in a real mafia setting. Doing in in a game where you only goal is to become a boss one day, makes complete sense. Would I ever switch families? No, I wouldn't. I would die fighting for what my boss and family has built. Does that mean you shouldn't? of course not. Blaze your own trail. Much respect V |

There are plenty of cases dealing with territory wars where lower members of certain families were more or less pressed into service of a dominant family. I'm not saying that they achieved any high rank in the new family, but in reality there is evidence that not everyone in a family that loses a war is killed. I'm not saying that family swapping is always good, but I really think it should be up to the leaders as to who they're willing to sponsor and who they'll trust. |

| I think there is a different in being part of a family or changing a crew. When you become a Wise guy in my opinion you 're part of a family and you'll stuck with them to the end. When you have a lower rank you 're part of the crew from that family, and then I think its oke to switch or change crew after a war. | |

| I dont see the problem if your crew leader dies then unlucky mate but you have to do whatever it takes to stay alive so if that means joining another family then so be it. | |
