Hello Wonderful Person Reading This Extremely Important Thread. Before you read what is written here allow me to say I am aware of the awesome name I use and the even more awesome person I am, and how that may make this question seem. However, this is a real question I have and have had for quite some time.
What is the opinion on wearing clothing at your residence (be it a house, flat, apartment, mansion, house boat, car, RV, trailer, or anything else) and your responsibility to people who may see you through your windows or in your pool/hot tub or on your porch/deck/balcony? I am of the belief that you can be how you want in your residence, however do you have a duty to those who may see in your windows? Obviously there is a difference between trying to be seen and just living your life as you wish in your residence.
Finally and I do not think anyone would take it this way but there is the obvious exception if you live near a place where you should be aware it is unacceptable.
Thanks for reading and possibly responding as this is a question I have had for many years. |

When I was single and alone all the time, I finally woke up one day and said why bother. Stayed like that for years except for obvious exceptions. I would make an attempt to keep my windows covered, but I always figured if a neighbor saw me... then maybe they shouldnt be looking in my house. I did have a hottub on my back screened patio at the time and that wasnt entirely covered from sight, so I'd leave the skinny dipping to a night time activity. |

This isn't exactly about clothing and stuff, but I know someone and in her home, Bedrooms are off limit. No no, you don't understand. They are off limit for EVERYONE. Not her, not her children, not her husband, nobody is allowed. And nobody absolutely nobody is allowed to sit on the beds cos that ruins the sheets. Even when her husband was ill he was outside in the hall Weird ass people |

Tyrant - I am very much the same in the thinking that I am not going out of my way to be seen but at the same time I am not going out of my way to perform ninja moves to not be in front of a window ever. My apologies on you not being single anymore though. They are always trying to hold the greats down. :D
Sprite - Well Damn has anyone inquired about what is in or under that bed? I see all the makings of a made for TV movie. What was in the room at the end of the hall? |

I'm a very private person and keep my blinds closed most of the time, so this isn't something I worry about a whole lot. It's an interesting question though, so I can share my thoughts. I wouldn't say a person has a responsibility of policing themselves in their own home, as far as how they do or don't dress. There are exceptions, as you alluded to, but for the most part, walk around the house the way you want. It's on them if they look in and see something they don't like. It's probably a bit different when it comes to being in your back yard and the like, especially if you have nearby neighbors. I have a pool in my back yard, but I also have two different neighbors with a mostly unobstructed view into my yard, so I'm not going skinny dipping anytime soon. I wouldn't want someone doing that if roles were reversed, so I'm not going to do that either. But in the house, wear or don't wear what you want. |

YPD - They really do hold us down. My wife is totally opposed to it. Times like these I miss having freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want. The things I sacrifice for love. |

I don't wear a lot at home, and honestly I don't even think about it. If some creeper looks through my window, I hope they enjoy the show. The only bad thing is I live behind a church, I'm sure the little old ladies have gotten some enjoyment if they look through my windows. |

Wyzguy - Thank you for sharing your thoughts and perspective I enjoy learning about the opinion of everyone in life. I could certainly agree that inside your home is different than outside of it and providing a level of privacy to your neighbors is a polite if not borderline mandatory thing to do in that case. Tyrant - Not even a king in your own home anymore? It is alright I am sure you had a great run in your time :). Hayley - I agree and it does seem that everyone is of the same opinion that inside your home is your space and you are not obligated to alter your life for someone who may be passing by. This is also my opinion but given the diversity of people here both in belief and country I was interested. |

There is no true etiquette for what to wear, the true etiquette is not looking in other peoples windows. |

I’d stand on the ‘do what you like but have social consideration’ line. If you want to truck around in the buff throwing wet sponges at each other, knock yourself out. However if you have open curtains, maybe don’t stand in the window with your vernaculars on display for any school kid that has the misfortune to glance your way. Do what you like but don’t be a prick about it. |

Legally, if you are inside your own flat/apartment/area of a flat (balcony) - You can do whatever you want, wear what you want or not.
I remember reading a case that the guy (who was a pedo) was always on his window, naked, watching kids on the playground across the park and pretty much police could not do anything because he was in his own flat, doing nothing, but being naked (and staring at the kids) but yeah. |

My apartment buildings have a long and terrible history of catching on fire. So I am always clothed unless showering. The only thing I will leave uncovered is socks are the devil. |

I live in Florida; the weather here makes it hard to want to wear clothes. occasionally, there's the need to dress for incliment weather. if the degree in the house is 67, then absolutely I'm wearing clothes, otherwise hell nah. |
