TheGeneral Returns Started by: TheGeneral on Nov 23, '24 22:19

The taxi screeched to a halt in front of the familiar brownstone, the faded grandeur of the building mocking the man who once called it home. TheGeneral stepped out, his tailored suit ill-fitting after years in the concrete confines of prison. The city had changed, grown slicker, more ruthless. Yet, it was still New York, and he was still TheGeneral.

He rang the doorbell, the chime echoing through the silent house. The door creaked open, revealing a face etched with age and suspicion. "You," the old man spat, his voice a rusty whisper. "What do you want?"

TheGeneral smiled, a thin line across his lips. "I'm home, aren't I?"

The old man snorted. "Home? This ain't no home for a traitor."

TheGeneral's smile widened, his eyes flashing with a dangerous light. "Traitor? Or just a man who learned the hard way that loyalty is a luxury few can afford?"

He pushed past the old man, his footsteps echoing through the empty halls. The silence, broken only by the ticking of the grandfather clock, was deafening. It was a stark contrast to the cacophony of the streets, a mirror to the emptiness he felt inside.

TheGeneral paused in front of the grand staircase, his gaze sweeping across the familiar space. This was where he'd grown up, where he'd learned the rules of the game. But the game had changed, and so had he.

He turned to the old man, his voice low and menacing. "I'm back, and I'm here to reclaim what's mine."
