I never wanted this life. Sure, I grew up in the neighborhood, saw what goes on, the glamor of the life. But I wanted to forge my own path. Thought I was above it all. So I kept my nose clean. Did well in school, stayed out of trouble. Joined up to serve my country. Then when I got home, Uncle Sam turned his back. But you know who didn’t? Uncle Joe. He took me in when I needed work, gave me a chance. I worked hard, was a good earner, and I climbed the ladder. When things went sideways, I felt I proved myself. It hurt to lose Joe Ligambi, Kenny Russo and so many others who helped me along the way. I was grateful for Amira Ligambi, though. It was inspiring how she stepped up, took the reins to ensure the Family would survive. So when the call came, the answer was easy and instant.
