| The Bella Vista Bulletin: Issue #1 | Started by: Rawley on Nov 24, '24 20:04 |
|
The printers and paper boys work quickly- almost as quickly as the writers themselves. But with everything going on in the crime world, it felt necessary to put some stories out there. After all, no one else was. Entire cities were being decimated without so much as a notice as to why or how. And with all the foundations laid, Rawley finally held the first issue in his hands. The Bella Vista Bulletin. A home-grown source of news and entertainment by the people, for the people. The first issue would be brief- after all, operating these presses ain't cheap- but future issues would be empowered with the resources to inform and entertain. Chuck Bass sat alone in a luxurious hotel suite in Chicago, a glass of whiskey resting lazily in his hand as the afternoon sun cast long shadows through the large windows. He was miles away from Bella Vista, but his mind was sharp and focused, as it always was. The first issue of The Bella Vista Bulletin had arrived earlier that day, shipped to him directly by Rawley, one of his fellow crew members who had recently taken on the daring venture of launching this new publication. Chuck, ever the strategic mind, had to see what the streets were saying what they thought of the chaos surrounding their world. With a measured curiosity, he opened the paper. The headlines immediately caught his eye. Russo, Denaro, and Provenzano, three of the biggest names in the underworld had been slain in what appeared to be a bloody dispute, the details of which were almost as tangled as the web they had created. Chuck couldn’t help but smirk as he read. This kind of violence was nothing new to him, but the tone of the article, the way it painted the picture of uncertainty and power struggles, felt fresh. The Bulletin didn’t shy away from the murkier aspects of their world. In fact, it seemed to revel in the chaos, its writers pulling no punches in calling out the lack of clarity that often accompanies such carnage. Chuck had seen enough of it firsthand, but now it was being chronicled with a raw, unapologetic energy that made him admire the audacity behind it. His fingers lingered over the page as he moved on to the editorial about the turnover in leadership, questioning whether death truly brought about change. He chuckled darkly. As someone who’d navigated the labyrinth of power shifts in his own way, he understood all too well that it wasn’t always the ones who survived who shaped the future, it was those who took action when it mattered. Rawley’s message was clear: in this world, survival didn’t guarantee a legacy, and change was often a facade. Chuck knew that he had a role to play in this ongoing drama. Despite his own cynicism, Chuck couldn't help but be impressed with Rawley’s boldness. The Bulletin wasn’t just a gossip girl or a simple chronicle of crime it was a call to attention, a demand for accountability. While many chose to hide behind veils of secrecy, this newspaper was pulling back the curtain, shedding light on the darker corners of the mafia world. Chuck had a natural respect for anyone who could play the game with such flair, and it was clear that Rawley was not only surviving but thriving. He had created something worth reading, and that, in itself, was an achievement. As Chuck finished reading, he set the paper down with a nod of approval. He picked up his phone, dialing Rawley’s number. When the line picked up, Chuck’s voice was smooth but direct. “Rawley, it’s Chuck. I’ve just finished the first issue of The Bella Vista Bulletin. Impressive work. You’ve got a sharp eye for this kind of thing—keep it up. You’ve got my support for whatever comes next.” With a grin, he added, “Congratulations on the new venture. Looks like you’ve got a real publication on your hands.” |

Droopy approached the corner where the paperboy stood on his soapbox, shouting out the paper's name and hinting at the articles written within. Having just moved from the city at the center of chaos, his interest was piqued, and thus, he decided to purchase an issue from the paperboy. He was new to this life and knew very little of those that were at the top of the pecking order, and a chance to learn about the war that broke out without needing to pry or bug others seemed like the safest bet. |

The bigger question here is not will the leadership tell us what's happening but will those leading the leaders tell us what's happening..? We all know there is a greater being on this earth. They send special messages in bubbles on special devices from the future. They tell them Whats 'Appening and then they enforce it. Why else would some of the things that happen happen? Why else would they paint their faces yellow and wear strange contorted expressions? Why else would all sort of random objects appear in conversation? What? Who are you calling crazy? I'm telling you. I've seen the other side. I've seen a silver car with a white pipe sticking out of it. It had some mad white haired guy, a dog and a young kid all in it then it flew away. They brought these devices and some guy called biff controls them. It's the truth I tell ya! |

TheD watches a man in a tinfoil hat wander by, muttering something about biffs. 'Anyway...", he thinks, as he sits down to finally read the newspaper he bought several days ago.
Wow! This is the best damn read I've had in a long time. I don't know who hired this Rawley fella' but it was a smart choice. |

atuP falls and smashes her head on the street. She then realized she fell asleep while reading the bulletin. "Damn" she mumbles, while scratching her wound "thats a lame ass boring newspaper. I think i should consider bringing The Weekly Gazette back" |

Vincenzo set aside the paper after finishing the articles. Despite their assertions to the contrary, the reporter seemed well informed for his money and Vincenzo had appreciated their insight. He had heard negative reviews of the production from those others around him who had tossed their own copies aside and he wondered why. It was certainly a newspaper that he would be keeping a keen eye on and would very much looking forward to reading again in the future. |

Too safe for my taste. Where are the brave investigative journalists who uncover the things that either nobody knows or nobody is willing to talk about? Where are the brave investigative journalists who will speak truth to power? I'm talking about The Reaper Daily. I'm talking about Systematic Immolation of Gnus. I'm certainly not talking about the Gwarble Barble, or whatever the fuck it was called. Thank you for the first issue. You got your feet wet. For the next issue, get your hands dirty. |

This is a decent publication and I feel has had a little bit of harsh criticism. While it is not the Bloody Tissue it is willing to offer some level of objection and probing question. You tend to find with such publication that to be successful that they don't need to be massively objective but just prompt debate and conversation. I'd say it's one of the better efforts of recent times. |

Louise put down the paper after reading it thoroughly. It's been a while since he read a paper since he's been quite busy as of late. So it was a good change of pace, a break if you will, from the mundane. It certainly made him laugh and smile. It kept him engaged the whole way through. "Can't wait for the next issue.", he said as the waiter came to take his plate of spaghetti away and leave a check.
He finished his whine and chuckled at the comments page of the newspaper and thought to himself, "Well, where's their paper? It's easy to criticize when you're not in the business."
Louis folded his paper under his arm, payed his bill and got into his car where his driver was waiting for him to go back to the headquarters. |

Good day to you Rawley. This is one hell of a write-up. This read does beat a blank because as you stated nobody else is coming forth. I guess you know in this line of work terrible information will always land on our desks. And sometimes we run with it. I am pleased you did just that because a fine citizen as myself will help you sort out the truth and the bullshit. The four names mentioned all had one thing in common. They were all bold. One GFC Joe Ligambi was already dead prior to the deaths of CL Provenzano and CL Denaro. Just goes to show it does not pay to stick one's nose into another GFC's city. To make that scene even worse Joe did not go to GFC Peta. Can't get any sloppier than that. Now with the case of Provenzano, a few short months ago a couple of ass kissing clows dropped into his office with intentions of provoking Provenzano. They gave it their best circus act to bait him to give reason to have him killed by the squad. They miserably failed. On the very day CL Provenzano was shot in cold blood was the day they decided to go ahead and use those old logs. They had to come up with something because of sloppy Joe's piss poor business ideals. The squad is now sitting on more intense paranoia. GFC Nuccio had no knowledge whatsoever of the happenings in both LV/LA and the death of CL Provenzano and CL Denaro. And he should have at the very least been concerned why CL Provenzano was gunned down. And those shit logs are not the reason as stated. Is that just a 'Bib" reading "I'm GFC"? Detroit is in trouble if that is the case. The fact he is content with a dead GFC Lamgambi (kin) to dictate who will sit alongside him spells trouble. I stumbled across far more information that I could have ever imagine. But then again, I am a trusted soul. My downfall is I am feared because I did not beat to any outsider's drum. It does not pay to be a puppet. Puppets get disposed of and I have a list of those too. |

Same, my downfall is also that I am feared. I can't get a date in this town without women screaming and running as soon as they see my face. Must be my immense influence and reputation. |

Ah. So we have the classice scenario. "Ze logs. Get ze logs." I known you owe this street absolutely nothing as a k8n of the deceased Constipated but why not share what you know? Why is the clock and dagger still going on? I know we are mobsters but we generally attempt to act with honour and that defines us from the street urchins. That and the impeccable suits, high quality cigars and being stinking rich but hey ho. Fuck the soup kitchen. So if you feel this world needs to see the truth. Why not reveal it? |
