Current Lottery State Started by: Dutch_Man on Feb 04, '12 14:04

As many have noticed, the Lottery we currently have is flawed. For those of you who don't know let me explain; Say the lotto is around 4 million up to a few minutes before drawing. All someone has to do is buy twice that amount to insure a win. Basically stacking the lotto. Some may say it is not a flaw but a calculated risk as there is potential for them to lose all of that money but lets face it. It is a very small risk compared to a large gain.

What I suggest is a pick three lotto system. Many states have a pick three lotto such as Wisconsin; http://www.wilottery.com/lottogames/pick3.aspx

So it would be easy to use an outside source to use as a source for our numbers.  Most states also do it daily so picking one day a week to have our lotto would also be an easy task.

I think this system would prove to be a bit more fair for those interested in playing the lotto.

Non winning weeks would allow for a rollover amount for the next week.

Forgot to mention:

Price per ticket would be 1k per ticket.

Also maybe have it so the minimum you would win from the lotto is 1mill?

I'm unsure how is it more fair with your method?

If you own 3% of the tickets, you have a 3% chance of winning and 97% chance of losing.

If you own 50% of the tickets, you have a 50% chance of winning and 50% chance of losing.

This system scales perfectly, the math scales perfectly, the risk versus reward is exactly the same for every single person.

The problem here is you are hearing about the guys who put in 10 mill and won the pot... What you don't hear is the guys who put in 10 mill and LOST the pot.

I agree with Squishy ;)

Your in depth analysis and participation there has astounded me ThirdSun! winks

However I must agree with your agreement, Squishy is correct and the risk vs reward is as fair as its going to ever get imo.

If someone has the funds to to stick in 10 million and risk it then fair play to them, there will be times when they aren't the winner.
