"Pour me your finest whiskey, Simon!" Laughing, Kat flung herself into a chair at one of the tables. "I have quite the announcement for you good sir." Simon arched his eyebrow at her. They had been friends for quite some time and he could only guess at what this could mean since last time he had saw her he talked her into looking for work around the streets. Musing on whether this news would mean trouble for her and ultimately himself as he never strayed from her. Kind of like her guardian angel or a fairy godmother. He poured her the drink she so eloquently requested of him as a chuckle left his throat. "Keep dreamin', bud." Taking the drink from her, she turned so her full attention was on him. Her eyes almost seeing through as she stated intently. "My announcement is so grand. Do you know that I am not everyone's cup of tea? Could you imagine a delight like myself is not meant for everyone? The absurdity!" Laughter rang out of her like musical bells. Her eyes filled with mischief. Si could just imagine the person that told her that. Was he dead? Or was he lucky enough to be roaming around because she had been in a good mood at the time? There were secrets to the woman that sat in front of him. He knew some of the horrors that she had survived, and yet the horrors she could inflict were more terrifying. This blonde haired angel hid many dark secrets locked tight in her, and some of them he didn't even know after fifteen years. "You were never much for tea, Kat. Besides what would other people want in their tea? Boring and dull?" "I know, besides whatever they have in those cups I do not want any of. My cup is filled with terror, dark wars and a lot of light. I am a contradiction even to myself, and yet, I make more sense than those that dream of what they will never have. Green grass, picket fences, and the happy-go-lucky dreams. Those are not real, and while my heads can reach the clouds I much rather be real." Nearly spitting out his drink, Simon looked at her dead in the eye. "You are terrifyingly that, m'dear. Have another drink then off home you go. I need to get some work done." Downing her drink in record time, Kat got up to leave. Her hand on the door when Simon had a thought. "Kat, is the person still alive?" "If you mean what I think you mean, for now they are in the land of the living. I am merciful if not nothing else." Winking she floated through the door and back into the city. A shiver ran through Simon but he shook his head and went back to his work. |
