Valiant dusts himself off and walks out the dark alleyway looks around and turns to glare at the mugger he just knocked out after a fight. He smiled and started walking towards a small crowd gathered outside a bar, he leaned against the wall near the entrance and looked at them casually until one of them noticed him and asked what he was looking at. Not much man, chill out. I just overheard your conversation and wanted to ask you people something. I'm sure that a lot of you are considering this Chicago auth proposal made by the leaders of New Orleans, New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Pretty sure most of you are happy to see this, two weeks from now we might have one, two or more leaders setting up in Chicago. Yay you say. I do too, but still I wonder if you're really prepared for what is to come, or if you'll be prepared when it's time to leave your current family and take the big bold step. When you do decide to do this, you'll be on your own, or at least that's what I am assuming. It's you and your RH and maybe one or two other members to start with. Fact still remains that if more people decide to set up shop, one or two of those might have a nice little itchy finger and a gun to back it up with, thus leaving someone whom they do not wish to be in the same city as them, dead. You ready to die for a bold suit? What makes you think you're capable of leading, the suit in itself doesn't make you a "leader" I've seen far too many in the past claim to be leaders just by wearing a bold suit, but as soon as they get their suit....nothing much happens after that, it's one lazy day after another. What you got to bring to the table that none of the others have so far? Something new, something you can call your own (except for your family name), any ideas of what to do with the city maybe? If you're going to be a leader who does nothing but talks to his or her members and achieves nothing in his or her lifetime, has no goals whatsoever, I believe you'll be looking at some funny fishies at the bottom of the ocean soon enough. Do you have any goals at all, or is getting the bold suit it? If that's all you wanted, I laugh at you. Seriously. Do you have the funds to start your own family? If you can't afford it and have to take loans, you can expect some people being pissed off in losing millions if you happen to die, but shame on them for borrowing you money knowing full well what the risks are that you're taking and then bitching at your son or daughter, right? Will you be one of those hypocritical types or will you keep your word, you know like, say you're going to do one thing and actually do it, or promise one thing and actually keep that promise. Your word as a leader means as much as the word of a bum if you tend to lie every single time you speak, so beware, this could and probably would make you end up with those funny looking fishies as well. There's more to think about, but to be honest, think about this for a moment, I don't need you to answer any of it, quite frankly I don't even want you to answer it, I just want you to think real good about it, and what it is you're wanting to do in two weeks from now. If you believe just wearing the bold suit makes you a leader, you couldn't be more wrong, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to run a great and efficient family, if you don't have the time nor effort to put into it to make it great, and the city of Chicago along with your fellow leader(s) of Chicago (the head family), I believe you'd be better off being at home in whatever family and city you're currently residing in. Think about it. Valiant nods his head and walks away whistling, he walks back towards the dark alleyway and turns to look at the mugger who's waking up right as he arrives, Valiant takes two steps back, and with all he's got he kicks the bugger in the face, knocking him out cold. Goodnight! He says and continues walking down the street, heading home to Casa Ombra. |

We aren't falling for it. You are clearly trying to keep the competition from setting up. To those who are considering it, DO IT! Don't let this guy slow you down. He just wants to scare you away from it. :) |

Fear makes people do stupid things. One stupid thing which might be setting up in Chicago despite reading this and not being prepared for it, so in fact, I might actually be helping them make a rash decision to setting up, but they don't know about it. God I love reversed psychology. Don't you Parker? Valiant smiles and pats Parker on his back. |

Well I would have to agree on with Valiant_Luciano on this, very well put too might I add. Time, dedication, and experience it's all crucial to running a successful family, just like Valiant said don't set yourself up to fall down just because you want to look buff in your new suit. If your not ready, your just not ready don't take it to heart it doesn't mean you should never be a leader just maybe in this point of time it might be in your best interest if you want to live your life out to its full potential when you might be more equipped to do the job. Eh, really is something to think about id say... Good speech, Dakine. |

I, for one, won't be setting up as the political climate is too complicated for me to fathom right now. But best of luck to all of you who decide to go bold. JarJar finds a secure hiding place and waits for the Chicago crossfire to die down... |

On the contrary, JarJar. I think the political climate is Perfect for people to grab their chance. The way things are structured leaves everyone to deal with their own city, opposed to one collective group dealing with all matters together. Which ensures each person is given their own chance to make a go of it. Even if your disliked by 1 city head, you still stand a chance. As I've said before, I just hope we get more action this time than last, my father expected 5 or 6 people at least to make their mark and only Animal and a couple of others had the testicular fortitude to go out on a limb. Look where he is now! |

TheShooter has a good point. I've recently only came back to these shores after a short vacation. I missed the war and many other things. In all honesty I can see other people who came out on top set up their friends in cities. In this case its different. In this case anyone who has the balls to set up can. I think its the best time to give it your all because their might not be another shot. This didn't happen when other Leaders were in power. I can't even think of another time of when this chance of glory was given (I was not here for the one with Animal participating). This is a great opportunity to anyone and everyone. |

And also, if you want to become a leader so that you can be well liked, then I think you will be disappointed when you set up. Sometimes the fastest way to become unpopular is to gain power, because as soon as you say or do something your fellow Mafiosos do not like, they flip on you so fast you may not even realize it right away. So make sure to have a plan in mind and don't change like the weather based on what mood people are in that day. |

Kira is right in that respect. You need thick skin if you want to survive as a leader in these 6 cities, it's not an easy job. I've had many ancestors that have gone on to become a leader and from what I've read in their journals, they all seem to have loved the experience. It brings a whole new edge to this world. It does of course, come with the largest consequence of all. You will die, sometimes a lot sooner rather than later. Pulling on the bold suit is the fastest route to the bottom of the ocean around these parts. Almost always there will be someone that doesn't like you, for any reason. It doesn't matter who you are, how loved you think you are, someone hates you and someone will make it their aim to kill you. In any case, I'm looking forward to it. |

Its a ton of work - Just be prepared if you are going to be setting up and you plan to stay alive and run a family. You must enforce rules on friends, be diplomatic, but also know people backstab. You must stay activr, but not too active. You must recruit, but not whore. Just be sure its in your blood.. and go for it if it is. |

I don't, in any way, wish to go against the grain....but please do not be put off by all the "it's hard work...there's too much pressure" malarkey that's being banded around these days. Crew leadership, at least from my ancestors' journals is a hell of a lot of un - it can be hard, but that depends on the leader - you get out what you put in, and surrounding yourself with the best people always helps! How often these days do you see Families falling all because the leader picked the wrong people to support them? It's all well and good picking someone you think is a friend, someone you like talking to - but what good is that if you both share the same sleeping habits? Both of you is unavailable at the same time, thus not only leaving your family at risk from outsiders, but unable to recruit should opportunities arise. |

Sambora - Lets be honest here, your ancestors were always drunk, so it's no wonder they had a lot of fun in their time! Or at least my ancestors journals indicate that ;-) Been a long time since our paths have crossed, didn't even know your lineage still walked these streets! |
