Murder Mystery Started by: Sapphira on Dec 30, '24 18:09

I know I had just arrived in the motor city, but the death, really, MURDER, weighed heavily on my heart. Who would do such a thing to a nice couple, and in broad daylight? I definitely had to find out, sooner, rather than later. I decided to start at their house. My mom cleaned a lot, but maybe, just maybe, I could find something hidden somewhere. As a child, I remember paying in the house, there were al sorts of paces to hide people ad things. My parents had given me the keys to their house years ago, in case something happened.

As usual, the house was so clean you could eat off the floor. mostly beautiful hardwood floors, as mom thought, the vacuums threw more dust than they sucked up, she was funny that way. It was not a huge house by any means, but enough for 3 people ad a guest. Usually, one of the family members came over Such fun we had playing outside with the cousins, whatever our young minds could come up with, we played. Everything looked in order, so where would I find....then I saw it. something I had not recognized before: a gun, a 45 caliber just sitting there. We never had guns in the house, what was this doing just laying around?

I went to their room. It feels like an invasion of privacy. Thier private space, and who wants to think about what goes on in there, not me!  I had to, to see if any clues surfaced. On the surface it looked normal. Well, this is not sitting right at all. There are secret passages in the house, maybe the dingbat police did not go into those. I checked the time, it was getting late, I would have to return at another time.

I returned early to the house, and realized, I had left the .45, where I had found it. It was on a side table in the living room yesterday, hopefully, it still was. As I entered, I went right to the gun, but it was gone! Obviously, someone had been here since I left last. Probably the killer. That rat bastard, refiling through their personal things, he was HERE, touching.... just thinking about it was pissing me off even more.

I headed towards the secret passages, to see what I could find there. the doorknob was kind of touchy, you had to really know how to talk to nicely to open it. Voila! it was open, like a good little door. The memories started flooded back of my childhood of hiding and playing for hours on end.  Mom cleaned this place spotless too, so no dust to make me sneeze. The sun made a beautiful beam through the window on the east wall. I was so caught up in memories, I almost forgot why I was here: evidence, anything.

I began searching everything. If I could open it, it was searched. All of a sudden, a bunch of papers fell out. They smelled of perfume. I started opening these smelly sheets of paper. It was nothing that my mom wore, so I do not know who they are from. After reading a few lines, I wanted to throw up. It read like a romance novel. I did not finish reading it, I get the picture loud and clear: my dad was a cheating bastard!

Then, I heard what sounded like someone in the house! I ran to where the sound was, and it was a man trashing the place, lie he was looking for something. He obviously did not hear me with all of the racket he was making, so I had the element of surprise. I pulled my weapon, and in a loud voice: I said:  What do you think you are doing?

He looked at me surprised and stopped what he was doing, and said he came to collect for his Boss on the contracts. I of Course found this interesting and managed to get him singing like a canary. I got this idea, to meet this so-called Boss, and um get a "contract" myself or a meeting or something. Somehow had to meet this person and deal with them personally. Alas, it was getting late again, another time, this would have to take some serious careful planning on my part.

So, I had found out Dad was a damn cheater... I had looked up to that man my whole life. As they say a daughter marries a man like her father. Every daughter is "daddy's little girl'", " princess", or some other nickname...and of course wrapped around his finger too, if he was like my dad, anyways. I was not by no means spoiled rotten though. My father taught me all sorts of things, really any kid should know. He taught me, survival. Things like being conscious of your surroundings and being ready for anything to happen and always be prepared. So to find out a different side of him, we kind of shattered my image of him. I thought I knew him, as we were so close, or so I thought. (sigh)

What if anything did that have anything to do with my parents' murder? Would this guy I have meeting with even tell me anything? and if I found out things about my father, is there anything about my mother too, was she cheating, or something more sinister going on? I am certainly going to find out. What would I find out next? I checked the time, it was still early, I had time to do another sweep of the house again. I got to the house and went to my old room, wondering if anything was in there. It looked the same as when I had left it for college all them years ago, so it was not going to help at all.

I wondered, did my mother know about Dads extracurricular activities. If she did, neither one of them had indicated anything was happening between them, no fighting, or anything. Mom never mentioned "divorce" either, but really, would she? Maybe she would not have said anything to me at all. Or, maybe, I was to blind to see it, as they were my parents. who really wants to fathom family issues within their own family? It was time for the meeting. I showered, and changed my clothes, into something more attractive and appealing that showed off my long slender legs, and patent leather stiletto heels.

I showed up at the agreed meeting place, some park I was not familiar with. I would imagine the bodyguards would be around without being truly being seen. I greeted the person; he said his name is "Jack". He thought I wanted a contract. Actually, I said I am there to inquire about a contract. and he said: " What makes you think I will give up that information?"  I said Well, for one, you are not protected, (remember the part about always come prepared) and two, I might make it worth your while.

So, I told him what I knew already. Then, asked him how he fit into the equation, and I would know if he was telling the truth. He was kind of pissed the guy at the house gave him up so easily, he had thought he had trained him better than that. Then came the biggest shock of my life, and I will never forget what he said next as long as I live. He said both of my parents hired him to kil the other! I said, they did not! He said, yes. Your father wanted your mother dead because he found another love, and well divorce is expensive. Your mother, well she knew he was a cheating bastard. Neither of them knew about the contract the other had with me, he said.so they thought they both were going to get away with murder, and then what? insurance money, did they even have any?  Well, that is it, that is what happened. I thanked Jack, if that is what his name was, for filing in all the holes to my parents' story.
